Offers flexibility in design and saves time in budgeting and forecasting processes
I find Board to be simple and easy to use. It offers significant flexibility in designing solutions. The system overall is very useful, with many capabilities that provide flexibility. Our budgeting and forecasting processes support around three hundred twenty users who would otherwise rely on Excel, making Board invaluable for saving time.

Workflow is straightforward and simple to understand, but there should be more automation and more simplicity from an end-user point of view
There is a little bit of reliance upon understanding the syntax of the actions that you want to take. Some of the other competitors have moved forward with that in terms of being able to make it more drag and drop and more logical, but there is still some way to go for UNIT4 in doing that, but they're getting there. With all these things, automation helps. The more they can do to simplify some of the complexities from the financial reporting, evaluation, and analysis sides, the better it would be. I'd like to see more automation and more simplicity from an end-user point of view.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think the product is good in terms of ease of use."
"This platform has helped our organization streamline our budget process and give us insight into our customers, products and services."
"Our data is now more structured. Between our data warehouse and BOARD, which are both brand new, we now have a more structured data view with more accurate, timely data."
"I like this solution because it's so versatile, you can really model it after your specific business practices."
"All staff can now see their relevant scorecards online."
"A lot of flexibility from the data modeling standpoint. It can add specific line items into our budget, for example, or if we want to make changes to the data model itself, we have that flexibility."
"Other than that, I can't think of another software solution that we've managed at the city that went as well as BOARD has."
"Support from BOARD is fantastic; always returning with solutions for both server and application questions."
"Its workflow is straightforward and simple to understand."

Cons

"The setup was a bit complex."
"Board's integration could be a bit more robust, but what we have works. If the design isn't right, the flexibility of Board can negatively impact performance."
"Initial setup was complex because my company has its own fiscal calendar that was difficult to set up."
"Again, it's very powerful, but there is also a big learning curve. It should be a little more intuitive."
"It can have more functionality for narrative reporting. They should also improve their training courses, which are currently very lightweight. When you get into more complex things, it is quite difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do, and you have to look at a lot of videos before you actually understand, which is a bit frustrating. Their training can be more comprehensive."
"We are looking for ways to distinguish zeros versus nulls in BOARD."
"It needs more export to Excel functionality. Right now, we're having to build within the cloud-based platform, as well as build within the Excel add-in, because the export to Excel is somewhat ugly."
"It's very powerful, but there is also a big learning curve. It should be a little more intuitive."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It is not the cheapest product on earth, but you get so much. It provides good value for money."
"Find a partner who will take responsibility for the implementation, and be available for support."
"The solution is quite expensive, if it is made cheaper then we can have more clients. I rate it four out of ten."
"In terms of the pricing, it was reasonable. BOARD is not the lowest in the market, but it was reasonable for us."
"The tool's price is a bit high compared to other solutions."
"It's perhaps on the slightly richer side of pricing for the markets that we focus on because we tend to focus on the SME or the small to medium enterprise market, whereas a lot of UNIT4 ERP customers are in local government, universities, etc. Some years ago, they were launching an initiative to be keenly priced for that SME market, but today, the foot has come off the accelerator a bit. It isn't the cheapest, but it is also not the most expensive one."
