AWS Lambda needs to improve cold start time. Some AWS Lambda functions require a cold start, and if you need AWS Lambda to provide quick responses, you need some of the AWS Lambdas to be always on, which is risky. We need AWS Lambda's cold start time to be reduced so that we can use it much faster than now. We need a better way to handle the cold start. We should be able to start AWS Lambda much before in a predictable way instead of just calling and then having it start.

Cloud optimization has transformed our cost control and now drives efficient FinOps decisions
The best features that Spot offers include automated cost optimization, advanced container and Kubernetes management, and extensions to security as well as compliance, AI-driven insights, and multi-cloud integration, enabling organizations to work across different cloud environments and benefit any customer.Spot's automated cost optimization works by continuously analyzing the workload and applying policies to minimize cloud spend without sacrificing performance. Spot automatically chooses the most cost-effective mix of pricing models such as spot instances, reserved instances, savings plans, and on-demand based on real-time demand and availability. Spot has positively impacted our organization by automating cloud resource management, which has significantly cut costs and improved efficiency. We have seen up to 70 percent savings, as well as better scalability, reliability, and tighter integration with AWS. This integration has opened several doors to the partner ecosystem, different marketplaces, and has allowed us to leverage programs while tapping into the Amazon network and ecosystem more effectively.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It enables the launch of thousands of instances simultaneously,"
"The most valuable feature is that it scans the cloud system and if they are any security anomalies it triggers an email."
"I appreciate AWS Lambda for its serverless computing, with charges incurred only for the used instances, and this serverless architecture enables the activation of instances based on task load, contributing significantly to cost efficiency."
"Lambda is trigger-based, which means it only activates when accessed, ensuring cost savings."
"We are building a Twitter-like application in the boot camp. I have used Lamda for the integration of the post-confirmation page in the application. This will help you get your one-time password via mail. You can log in with the help of a post-confirmation page. We didn’t want to setup an instance specifically for confirmation. We used the Lambda function so that it goes back to sleep after pushing up."
"What I like best about AWS Lambda is that it's feature-rich, and I appreciate that. I also like that it's stable and supports many languages."
"The solution works for small applications. It is a serverless tool that is quick to spin up. We needn’t consider anything in the bag."
"One of the most valuable features of AWS Lambda is the performance. Lambda is very technical and has very high performance, as well as good real-time performance."
"Spot has positively impacted our organization by automating cloud resource management, which has significantly cut costs and improved efficiency."
"The solution helps us to manage and scale automatically whenever there is a limit to the increase in the application workflow."
"The solution offers both block access and file access, making it a nice solution for customers."

Cons

"AWS Lambda has some size limitations in the code line, you can't do a couple of functions to do the job."
"The product needs some updating as far as ease-of-customization and configuration opportunities to work with solutions outside of the cloud."
"The feature to attach external storage, such as an S3 or elastic storage, must be added to AWS Lambda. This is its area for improvement."
"The user-friendliness of the solution could be improved."
"My opinion is that the integration could be improved in this solution. We have had some difficulties integrating the EC2 module, but we found a solution for that by ourselves."
"The solution should continue to streamline integrations with AWS services."
"I would like to see the five zero four AWS Lambda invocation fixed. This is basically a time-out error."
"Having a better preview would be helpful."
"The solution doesn't have support from OCI, and it should start working to onboard OCI."
"There are no particular areas for improvement I can identify."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its pricing is on the higher side."
"AWS Lambda is cheap."
"AWS Lambda license is paid on a monthly basis."
"AWS Lambda is cost-effective, with a minimal maintenance cost."
"The pricing is on-demand and based on runs or times that are billed out monthly."
"We only need to pay for the compute time our code consumes."
"We don't need to pay for licensing to use Lambda."
"The solution is part of the AWS subscription model that is paid annually."
