Helps me be proactive in solving a customer's problem before it even happens
This is a new solution by HP. It's less than two years, we're among the first to implement the solution, so I'm sure that there is a lot of room for enhancement and continuous improvement in the future. They have added a new feature, which was not part of the solution, which is they support what they call hybrid apps; before, it was only supporting native. That is something they work with your R & D, whereby they support this feature in the parent version of AppPulse.

Real-time monitoring has improved our banking API performance and supports detailed business transaction analysis
The real-time monitoring is what we can see for anything that is needed in terms of CPU, memory, or the connections or the sessions related. It's real-time monitoring of performance of each of the components, which is what we need and use all the time. It's highly effective, I would say. Infrastructure visibility, transaction monitoring, to check the actual user experience in terms of the response time, MRT and all those things. We do the component monitoring like the API performance and the connections and all those things, but we also do the business process monitoring and business transaction monitoring.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For us it is easy; it is friendly and it has information that is important for the business."
"Customer are able to develop more quickly versions in which users can see the application to correct and monetize it."
"The speed that you can get AppPulse out there was the brightest spot of this whole process."
"Customers are seeing the benefits immediately, mainly in the back office."
"This product has many valuable features, and it is very important for us to identify the response time, identify the different operating systems, the brand of the smart phones, and where customers are using them - not only in Mexico, but in different parts of the world."
"The benefits are the ease of integration into OMI, the speed of the deployment, and the quick ROI in value that it adds in a space where we were kind of flying blind before we had it."
"It identifies transactions and flows of the operations that our customers use with our mobile application."
"It provides a lot of customer insight, understanding the customer's needs, understanding the customer's issues, and it gives me a more proactive approach to solving a customer problem before it happens."
"The release management capabilities are great."
"The solution helps us provide a better user experience to our customers."
"AppDynamics is scalable. They can monitor billions of transactions because they're not monitoring all transactions. They're monitoring samples. So, they can offer good monitoring for the huge sites."
"Technical support was excellent."
"AppDynamics gives synopsis information so we're able to at least find out where exactly the problem is."
"The product is good for the enterprise SAS application performance monitoring and is good for a larger scale deployment such as what my company is working on."
"It is easy to gain visibility into complex environments with AppDynamics, combining operational information and business information with strong business IQ support, making it simple, useful, intuitive, and feature-rich overall."
"It gives me the ability to trace logs between transactions, for example, a DB transaction or JVM transaction from one hub to the other, so I can easily find out where the problem is or where the bottleneck of the issues lies."

Cons

"I would love if AppPulse delivered more details about my users, for example, age and sex. It could split up the users into categories based on how frequently they use my product."
"The regulations should be better customized for the kind of data that we cannot send to the SALs environment."
"In the next release, I would like to see heat-map tracking."
"The only other thing that would come to mind is the ability to get CI information from AppPulse into OMi."
"However, false positives is definitely something you will need to watch out for."
"I would like to see more reporting and analytics."
"The one that sticks out in my mind is some flexibility to do recurring downtime."
"We are using AppPulse, but not as extensively as we expected, due to the limitations and the regulations that we have to meet."
"AppDynamics Server Monitoring lacks investment in new technologies like Kubernetes and cloud solutions."
"AppDynamics could benefit from greater integration with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and machine learning."
"I have found it sometimes a bit difficult to trace the transaction all the way through to the application. I'm not sure if that problem is on the database side or on the application side, but that would be something that I would like to be improved. The traceability from the application to the database, sometimes, is a bit of a challenge. If you're using AppDynamics, with the Java agent, for instance, you need to be able to trace it through."
"It needs strengthening in the database tiers."
"We have hundreds of services and multiple shared health rules for alerting for each of them, AppD has no easy way to pull up all the health rules for a particular service to send off the each app owner to validate alerting thresholds."
"Customization requires a few manual tweaks."
"At this time, we don't have much visibility on the virtual environment, monitoring, and all other things."
"If you have a single URL and all the operations are coming in as part of the header, you will not be able to segregate them for different actions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It was a no-brainer from a cost perspective compared to the other tools that we buy as an IT organization."
"I believe there was probably an extra charge whenever I wanted to contact the support team."
"AppDynamics is more expensive than competitors."
"AppDynamics is priced on the higher side."
"The pricing is quite comparable to similar solutions in the market. All these solutions at the moment are cheap, but it is like paying for insurance; you pay insurance to avoid major damage."
"My understanding is that the price of this solution is quite high, compared to other products."
"Purchasing the product through the AWS Marketplace was good."
"Our purchasing experience through the AWS Marketplace has been pretty painless."
"The solution is highly expensive"
