Extensive support experience and seamless deployment enable efficient troubleshooting
Red Hat is definitely the reason why we go for Linux and why we choose it above Ubuntu. The idea is security and the inbuilt security features. We don't have separate security experts here, so we configure it ourselves. We choose those systems that already have a lot of security features. Red Hat SE Linux is something we appreciate. Regarding the most valuable features of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, flexibility is the biggest reason. The fact that I can easily manage kernel parameters is a testament to the flexibility of the operating system, and that is why we use it on virtually all our servers. There are two reasons why I always turn to either Amazon Linux or Ubuntu. My preference for Amazon Linux is because of its SE Linux implementations. My preference for Linux entirely is because of its customizable nature. It is flexible and I can change it to fit whatever my applications' needs are.

Improved security features with gaming enhancements while supporting various features
I understand that Windows 11 supports quite a bit of additional features for people who are, for example, into high-end gaming and the features that support that kind of utility. It's not personally much of a thing for me, however, I've heard about differences between the two operating system versions. To the best of my knowledge, I think Windows 11 brings some AI features for Microsoft Copilot, which probably weren't as integrated into the previous version. There are the occasional bugs and issues that pop up, yet none are significant enough for me to consider a major update. Overall, it's a smooth experience.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Whenever I deploy solutions on Amazon Linux, I almost never have to worry about the operating system."
"It's very straightforward. There is virtually no learning curve at all."
"One of the most valuable features is that there is one processor. Some other valuable features are the firewall, antivirus protection, Microsoft Defender, and Outlook."
"It is user-friendly, and it supports many applications. I am working as an enterprise lead, so I have different client applications, and they are mostly compatible with Windows. The graphical interface of Windows 10 is better than Windows 8."
"Good user interface, flexible and stable."
"Windows 10 has significantly improved; it processes information more quickly, and when using mapping software such as QGIS or ArcGIS, the system remains stable, especially when handling heavy files."
"Technical support is available 24/7 and we find them to be helpful."
"Windows 10 is user friendly and is a high performing solution."
"Windows 10 is unique in that it comes with its own antivirus firewall, which obviates the need to purchase one separately."

Cons

"I have honestly never had any problems with Amazon Linux, aside from disk space issues."
"I think there are too many unnecessary questions when installing the solution. I try to do it as quickly as possible, answering "no" or "I don't want" to most questions. I don't remember the questions because I just try to skip them all. I don't pay attention to particular questions as I don't need them. I know I'll get Windows at the end, which I need. Compared to years ago, the installation process now has many more non-technical questions about usage and family members, which I don't like."
"The pricing could always be lower."
"I prefer Linux over Windows 10 because the command prompt is better in Linux."
"They should lower the price point."
"The system frequently attempts to update Windows 10 software, which significantly slows down my laptop computer."
"The security and the updates could use improvements, as well as scalability."
"The interface could be more user-friendly."
"I have some challenges with the search box. It's a good tool, but sometimes there are some problems. For example, I can't find an application that I installed earlier."
