Improved network visibility has enabled faster incident resolution and collaborative monitoring
When I open ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer, I start by checking the dashboard for any alerts. There are no features that came up during implementation that I am not using today, and we are happy with whatever we configured. ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer does change how my team works together and improves collaboration. I would advise someone considering ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer that it is a good product, economical, and has a better interface and dashboard to monitor network activity. I give this product a rating of 10.

An affordable product with great integration capabilities
Plixer Core Platform is a valuable feature and a good software. Plixer Scrutinizer uses NetFlow analysis to monitor whatever is there in a network. Price-wise, Plixer Scrutinizer is not an expensive product. Basically, Plixer Scrutinizer is an affordable product. Plixer Scrutinizer is a tool that allows for customization, especially in scenarios where customers need new product features. Plixer Scrutinizer is a tool that can integrate with any other brand or product in the market, so it is not an area of concern.

Pros

"ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer has detection capabilities for flow, event, and service flow."
"I give this solution a rating of 10 out of 10 and absolutely recommend it based on our experience."
"I would advise someone considering ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer that it is a good product, economical, and has a better interface and dashboard to monitor network activity."
"The impact of ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer on our team's daily operations is immediate, shifting the entire department from a fire-fighting mindset to a proactive management style."
"One of the most valuable features of Plixer Scrutinizer is the reporting, particularly how easy it is to drill down into the reports. Another valuable feature of the solution is its overall visibility. It's great. I also liked Plixer Scrutinizer in terms of deployment time and that it's very simple to set up. Once you get the appliance set up and connected, the customer starts to see results immediately, versus other solutions where that could take a while."
"We didn't experience any bugs."
"It shows us the saturation of the network of devices. It gives us a clear view of the flows in the network to understand, for instance, planning upgrades in the network to get an idea of what's going on the network on traffic flows. It gives us insight, for instance, on what's going on on our VPN Client. There are a lot of things where it provides very helpful information. It also gives us our security reports with quite detailed information on what's going on in the network, and whether there are data exfiltrations and so on."
"I honestly don't think there are many areas where Scrutinizer could be improved; it's a pretty robust, out-of-the-box solution."
"The internal reputation of our IT to resolve historical bandwidth problems has 100 percent improved."
"There are other tools out there that will do what Scrutinizer does. But what I have found with Scrutinizer is that it does it very quickly. I've taken 25 million individual data fragments from the different sensors, and it has graphed that and mapped it and presented a picture within 30 seconds. It has a very efficient database algorithm that I am really impressed with."
"The most valuable features of Plixer Scrutinizer are its ease of use, accessibility, and UI."
"It's agnostic as far as what your network gear is. As long as it supports an sFlow, JFlow, NetFlow, some kind of flow monitoring, Plixer will support it very well."

Cons

"In ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer, we have to set custom thresholds to get alerted if there is a problem in network connectivity. It would be helpful if we could automate the tool such that we don't have to set thresholds manually, and the tool automatically alerts us when it detects issues."
"ManageEngine's product has some performance issues. It runs very slowly when the system is large and does not support high availability for big flow and high-level operations."
"The single biggest friction point I experience with ManageEngine NetFlow Analyzer comes down to database storage management and disk space explosion, as flow data records literally record every single conversation passing throughout the monitored interfaces."
"It would be useful if there was a way to back up the configuration information. E.g., if you wanted to deploy a new instance or disaster recovery, you could quite easily deploy and restore the config, as opposed to having to restore all the NetFlow data. If there was just a button that said "backup config information", that would be good."
"Knowing that they're coming out with a new user interface, that is an area where there is room for improvement. There are so many variables. They should limit the variables in the user interface and create some classes, like "simple," "novice," and "expert" to narrow down the variables within it."
"The reporting structure, the front-end GUI, also needs some work. It needs some getting used to. It works fairly well, but it's a technical tool rather than a user tool. You have to understand the structure of the databases before you can really use it."
"I wish the reporting side was easier to work with, but it does a decent job. I also wish the reporting side was a little more intuitive or they offered more reporting examples."
"Data retention needs improvement. Data retention is a thing where we are looking for a better way to collect flow data for a longer time to do forensic research on security incidents. By default, data retention is quite low. We need detailed data in safe storage for a longer time, e.g., for a couple of months. An improvement would be a way to export data into a secure long-term storage."
"Though Plixer Scrutinizer has network detection and response, it's an area that needs just a little more rounding out."
"There is room for improvement around the data that they have on the website about solutions... they should have more templated solutions on their website. Going out and identifying how to do RTP performance with a Cisco router, or how to do application response times in an Arrista data center deployment was where most of the work was... They should spend some more time documenting solutions and putting together white papers."
"From what I understand it is that the solution is not very scalable in a high volume traffic environment with a large number of flows."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I rate Plixer Scrutinizer's price a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price or affordable, and ten is high price or expensive."
"We pay our one-off cost for the licenses, per device, in blocks of 50. And then we pay an annual maintenance fee of about $15,000 Australian, which is, at this point in time, about $9,000 US, for those 250 devices. The upfront costs for the 250-license use, were about $50,000 Australian, which is about $32,000 US."
"Our entire solution, amortized over five years, is in the vicinity of $40,000 to $50,000 a year."
"The licensing cost for Plixer Scrutinizer is in the middle. It's not the cheapest, but it's not the most expensive. Its licensing model is based on how many exporters, how many devices export information to the system. Plixer Scrutinizer has different modules you could add such as the security module which would cost extra."
"We have increased the license over time. We have added more licenses as the network has grown."
"We recently bought a license upgrade, so we will integrate more exporters. We upgraded from a 25 exporter license to a 50 exporter license. Therefore, there will be more flows, and this will be an extension. I don't know when we will purchase a faster server, because the server that we have is quite new."
"The license is per device. We have 50 devices."
"We just renewed. The pricing is 5,000 euro per year. This is the final price. All tax (20 percent) is included."
