Reports generation remains efficient while support and updates require attention
The biggest problem for not using Aruba Airwave extensively now is that HP is not upgrading this tool. They're not investing money and time into it, which is why we're not using it. I find the price of Aruba Central compared to Aruba Airwave to be more expensive. Customers start to complain and get annoyed about the license price. For example, when customers have 500 access points and features about access point licenses, moving to Central requires purchasing new licenses. This makes customers annoyed and complaining about this situation. It's hard to move from on-premises to Central because they always compare costs. If Aruba gave free licenses, they could move. But going to cloud and Central means more investment, and their budget doesn't cover the new investment. This creates problems for local partner companies.

Monitor broadcast systems effectively with real-time data processing and insightful feedback
The solution will monitor data in real-time and can scale out well. For instance, in a television studio, I might deal with about three hundred pieces of equipment. However, in other sites, it can handle 200 to 2500 nodes that send data every second. The system efficiently processes and analyzes data to provide insightful feedback, such as pinpointing specific equipment errors. It also offers predictive analytics based on received data, rather than just storing it.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most beneficial feature for network monitoring in Aruba Airwave is the Live Heat Map. It helps identify interferences, coverage issues, and user connectivity issues. The device management capability of Aruba Airwave is good. It provides end-to-end visibility from the user to the access point, the switch, and the internet breakout. From a monitoring, management, and orchestration standpoint, it is very effective and can manage any scale of deployment."
"What I like best about Aruba Airwave is its orchestration feature because it saves configuration time. I also like that it allows you to do ZTP installations for new Aruba equipment."
"The solution's initial setup process is straightforward."
"AirWave definitely helps us troubleshoot and get to the root cause of the issues. It gives you an excellent indication of what's going on within your network at different locations. You can get to the area, take a look at the AirWave analysis, and make informed decisions."
"The monitoring and administration allow configurations for checking the association of the user to the network, then to the AP, then to the switch, and back to the controller."
"The technical support services are good."
"The feature that proved most beneficial for our organization's network monitoring is the virtual four, which we use frequently when working with Aruba."
"It's scalable because it's licensed per device and we bought licenses with each device. I would rate it a nine out of ten for scalability."
"The solution is user-friendly and is readily customizable, which allows us to do control and monitoring in a single stage."
"Data Miner allows you to take control. It has an API to talk to different products, including drivers to talk to the APIs of third-party products. You can control it from the screen."
"The solution will monitor data in real-time and can scale out well."
"The most valuable feature of DataMiner is its comprehensiveness. It provides an open driver that allows you to customize and program each aspect of the system. Additionally, there are many separate modules available that can be used to enhance the system's capabilities beyond just monitoring, allowing you to manage your entire workflow. This is a valuable feature that makes troubleshooting easier and helps to optimize the use of the system."

Cons

"The biggest problem for not using Aruba Airwave extensively now is that HP is not upgrading this tool. They're not investing money and time into it, which is why we're not using it."
"Cost is always a big issue for partners."
"The overall monitoring of this solution could be improved."
"Pricing for Aruba Airwave could be cheaper, which is an area for improvement in the solution."
"We encounter delayed ETAs in the manufacturing of hardware."
"When upgrading hardware, there were technical issues with network interfaces and Red Hat, which required escalation to developers."
"My general opinion on Aruba Airwave is that it's acceptable, but it's not ideal because we are accustomed to Cisco."
"I want a management solution to manage and monitor everything from a single dashboard. This is not there with Airwave."
"I am looking forward to the company continuing to improve its solution and incorporate new technologies. Specifically, I hope that they will allow their cloud database environment to host services, rather than requiring the use of on-premises digital or physical servers. The company is moving in this direction, but I am still waiting for this capability to be implemented."
"We would like to have more products supported by the drivers because there are so many products out there. If DataMiner has not built the drivers to support them we can not control them, we can only see them based on SNMP. If more drivers are included, it won't cost us if we have new products."
"The system's complexity during installation could be reduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the product’s pricing a five out of ten."
"The licensing is on an yearly basis."
"AirWave is a very expensive solution. If you implement it in a wide range network, it will cost a lot. There is no option to sell it outside that price segment, which is a problem."
"This product is not expensive."
"Run a 90 day free Proof of Concept (PoC) for each product by implementing and using it fully in your environment. This way you will be educated on its features, functionality, and manageability."
"It's device-based licensing. One device requires one license."
"Aruba Airwave's licensing cost is not that expensive."
"We must buy a new license to connect more devices to scale up the solution."
"DataMiner is an expensive solution and that is why many companies do not use it. Other solutions are less expensive."
