PR
Provides centralized data observability features and has an easy-to-use user interface.
The product's initial setup is in a daily improvement stage, deploying new plugins for upstream and downstream resources. It takes 25 minutes to complete. The process involves integrating with third-party services for Single Sign-On (SSO). It requires only one executive for maintenance as it has easy-to-use navigation and user interface.

Application performance management and error resolution improved with data-driven insights
Dynatrace has multiple functions compared to Splunk AppDynamics, so Splunk AppDynamics should add those functions, which are not available as of now. Dynatrace has a universal agent that collects all information related to their CI, and if one CI has multiple languages, then there is no need to instrument multiple agents. However, Splunk AppDynamics requires multiple agents; if I have one server with multiple applications in different languages, then I need to instrument different agents for each application. Splunk AppDynamics should work with Dynatrace with one single universal agent that works with all application languages, eliminating the need for multiple implementations.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It makes organizing work easier based on its relevance to specific projects and teams."
"The AppDyniamics technical support is good. We haven't had any problems with them. They answer very quickly."
"End-user monitoring (web and mobile)"
"Database scaling or migration projects play a supportive role throughout the development, monitoring, and troubleshooting phases."
"It has improved our organization with its ability to catch issues quickly and fix them."
"The most valuable feature of AppDynamics is that you can easily determine the load on the application."
"We are able to correlate performance between tiers."
"AppDynamics' most valuable features are the response time of the business transaction modules, the ability to monitor multiple services, and testing and developing environments."
"We can view the server activities, including issues in the process, with a single click."

Cons

"For anomaly detection, the product provides only the last three weeks of data, while some competitors can analyze a more extended data history."
"The solution's pricing could be improved and made more competitive."
"In terms of improvements we would like to see, we want to understand what the battery consumption metrics are whenever a user is viewing. It would be really helpful for us if we could get those details levels."
"The setup, implementation and use are clumsy and need to be refined."
"They are using Flash for their website, which is very slow. We had hoped the website would be much faster to use, and that is definitely what we want to see."
"The infrastructure is not as good as other solutions."
"The solution has performance issues after we deploy the agent."
"This feature needs to be properly described to a client, and then the client needs to have a use case. There are some clients which do not need it and some clients who do. It is not for everyone and is dependant on their use case."
"Regarding Search Guard functionality, there is room for improvement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product has moderate pricing."
"Take into consideration what you get for specific pricing models and how much it costs to add on things you may need later."
"AppDynamics is what I would consider an enterprise-level solution. This means that it's a solution that is intended for use by larger organizations, while small or medium-sized businesses may find it difficult to afford. The number of agents required will also impact the pricing, and smaller companies may only be able to afford a limited number of agents. Essentially, the cost of the solution is not within the reach of every organization, and only some may be able to afford it."
"It would be better if there were more solutions incorporated into the base price. "
"The licensing scheme is very complex. They need to make it easier."
"We find its pricing reasonable and competitive. After it was acquired by Cisco, we found it acceptable."
"AppDynamics is priced on the higher side."
"It does require licensing to be paid."
"There is a license to use this solution. However, the clients pay for the licenses we are the service provider."
