Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"With Dundas BI, you have a lot of visualization choices, and you can also do customizations by using HTML coding and JavaScript. The ease of development was one of the main factors for going for Dundas BI. The client had different reporting tools, but they wanted something that could accommodate all requirements.""We use Dundas to report on machine sensor data and create dashboards.""The Layers feature organizes my work and makes it easier, instead of having to use scripting to show and hide when drilling down.""The solution has a good drag-and-drop feature for creating dashboards.""We have now the ability to create interactive and complex reports without the need for software developers and code.""It was quite easy to use. The UI was basically drag-and-drop based. So, even if you were a beginner at coding software or something else, it would be easy to catch up on Dundas BI."

"The features I find most valuable are 'Discover,' 'Formulate,' and 'Model.' I use them regularly to build logic and create reports for my job.""It seems quite performant in analyzing multi-dimensional information sets and presenting them.""It proved to be a very powerful and useful tool due to its breakdown capabilities, easy reporting features, flexibility in building custom calculations, and the ability to integrate them into reports.""Pyramid has a wide level of uses, as it's a complete ETL process and has a good level of connecting to a lot of data sources.""It offers a wide range of analytics options including statistics and visualizations, as well as prediction capabilities, allowing users to make forecasts based on the latest data.""The on-premise version has quite good scalability.""I think the most valuable Pyramid Analytics feature is the solution's ability to drill down and dice in the loop. I think it is better than InExcel or Power BI.""The most valuable feature of Pyramid Analytics, outshining even top-tier platforms like Power BI, is its robust support for DAX queries."

Cons
"I would love to see more functions built in inside the application, instead of being scripted. They already did some of that in the new release, version 5, like forecasting, trend lines, etc., and I would love to see more of these kinds of calculations, which we used to do it by scripts before.""Working with the color palette is difficult in Dundas BI. They can work on different color palettes and make them organized and user-friendly. It would help a long way. Most of the time, the users face challenges in assigning colors to the fields that they have created or to the dimensions and measures in a chart.""I cannot select a visualization and see what filters are connected to it.""Lacks sufficient online support.""For every object, references are generated, but sometimes, there was a problem with the references overlapping each other. Everything would go off. It would stop working, and then from the admin side, people had to do something to bring it up again.""It would be helpful if Dundas made the UI more user-friendly like the leading tools and decreased the learning curve. It should be simpler for a beginner to build dashboards."

More Dundas BI Cons →

"The general amount of negative comments that I am hearing from my team makes me very wary.""I find that this is quite a heavy, time-consuming tool for developers.""There is room for improvement in terms of documentation and examples, especially for newcomers like me who are learning both business intelligence and Pyramid.""There is room for improvement in terms of the user interface, particularly when it comes to modifying connections between filters and visual components in a dashboard.""I think the graphic number of charts and components could be higher, at least comparable to Brain Power BI.""It would be desirable to have the possibility to generate a data dictionary, detailing the original physical tables, renamed fields, and derived fields.""Even though the solution has a functionality for every step, it's not so well- defined. That needs to be improved.""Pyramid Analytics could improve by speeding up data refresh, especially for large datasets."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I'm not aware of its cost. Its licensing was probably role-wise. Most of us had reader access, editor access, or developer access. For admin, there were certain restrictions. So, I'm assuming it had role-wise licensing."
  • "I am not majorly involved in its licensing. We are not the end license purchaser of the Dundas BI. It costs somewhere around $4,000 a year for the enterprise solution, but I am not sure."

  • "The licensing cost is not excessively expensive, but it does increase with the addition of new features and modules."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Dundas BI solution.

A Business Intelligence Consultant at Siemens Industry says, “The flexibility of the dashboard designer is great. You can control every single pixel and no matter what the user asks for we can deliver. It has a lot of out-of-the-box options that you can use to customize your dashboard. There is also the option to use their JavaScript API, however, in 99% of the cases, the built-in options are more than enough. I also love the control you have on what queries Dundas BI is generating against our databases. This allows us to create really fast dashboards even when running against millions of records.”

James D., System Architect at Yulista, LLC mentions that the most valuable aspect of the solution is its “ability to warehouse query results. This is good because you do not have to have a data warehouse, you let Dundas warehouse the results of a query that runs long during off hours.”

Another reviewer shares, “The built-in ETL functionality has allowed us to combine data sources without the need for a full SSIS package. This saves time and allows for a quicker time to market.”
