Unification of security features strengthens network protection
The overall network security is good. It's big-picture, all in one bundle. It's valuable to have everything in one place instead of spreading across different products. Unified security management positively affects a company's security operations. They have one unified view of the security. I can connect multiple gateways to the management and have it in one place. I can have reporting and views in a single pane of glass on the consolidated platform. It's easy to use. The management is the best on the market. It's very easy to work with, read, understand, and navigate. It helps increase our customer's security posture. We can see in some cases CloudGuard improves our customers' posture overall.

Incident reporting, logging, and reports alarms and alerts
The product has already improved in the sense that they are continuously making the effort to make the product better. We are now starting to work with a new version over this past month. The product improvement is there and new features are coming out. Then they have just announced something to do with the EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response). In four months, feature-wise, a lot has been going on. They have concentrated their effort and their focus now is on USM Anywhere, which is the cloud-based system. But we already know that in our case, some of these clients will not want to send their information to the cloud. This is why we are focusing on USM on-premise and the appliance model. Otherwise, it would have been much easier for us to go into the USM Anywhere cloud-based product in terms of deployment and maintenance. So in all, I would say the core improvements are going on. What I have seen in the product itself right now, is adequate to meet the present requirements. But of course, the requirements will keep on changing.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The product offers an easy and nice way to manage the gateways, similar to on-prem hardware. It has packet filtering features. Our security operations are faster and less prone to errors. We selected CloudGuard Network Security due to its visibility."
"CloudGuard Network Security has helped reduce our organizational risk by about 15%."
"I feel safe deploying Check Point, and the security lets me sleep well at night."
"Its blades and VSLS (Virtual System Load Sharing) work fine."
"The comprehensiveness of the CloudGuard’s threat prevention security is great, especially once they integrate Dome9 in the whole thing. That really ties the whole thing together, so you can tie your entire cloud environment together into one central location, which is nice. Previously, we had three or four different tools that we were trying to leverage to do the same stuff that we are able to do with CloudGuard."
"CloudGuard Network security has increased our confidence in secure cloud deployments and migrations by 50%."
"This solution brings us closer to having a better security score, which helps us a lot in complying with information regulations based on security."
"Check Point CloudGuard Network Security has positively impacted my organization by making the network more secure and controlling the access to the applications."
"The product is powerful and rapidly developing into an all-in-one solution."

Cons

"While today we can manage some scopes, there are still some segments in the OSI layer we cannot manage."
"We have Microsoft CASB cloud app security and it's one of the least compatible firewalls. They really need to look at this, as both Check Point and Microsoft are major players. Why aren't they compatible? If we had Palo Alto then we wouldn't have this problem."
"What I would like for future updates would be faster updates to apply, and perhaps a greater presence in the local language for the regions of Latin America."
"Clustering in Azure is a bit different, not using the Check Point cluster but relying on load balancing. It's not as instant as I'm used to; in Azure, it might take around half a minute to a minute, and during this time, services could be down. The delay is attributed to Azure using its load balancing mechanisms instead of the Check Point cluster."
"The networking system updates, when delayed, can lead to misconfigurations and data loss."
"The documentation has been rough. Being able to do it yourself can be hit or miss given the constraints of the documentation."
"The user interface could be more intuitive, and the initial setup and configuration can be complex, requiring a technical team."
"The initial setup was a bit complex."
"The depth of the technical documentation needs to be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We explored both pay-as-you-go and build-your-own-licensing models, and found both to be competitive."
"Licensing is available on a monthly or yearly basis."
"The cost is on the higher side, as it is based on workload, hence we need to decide which VPC or workload needs to be part of CloudGuard."
"It is an expensive product, but when you realize that you need it, it does not feel so expensive. We have had a good experience with them as partners. They have helped us with designing and having good architecture and the best equipment at the best prices. We find it a good deal."
"We are using our BYOL. We are using our existing Check Point discounts to work with licensing. Overall, it is very competitive. Its pricing is reasonable to me."
"It is fairly priced, but it can be a little expensive from time to time."
"We pay approximately ‎€150,000 ($166,000 USD) per year."
"They're a little high in price. The price could be lower."
