A robust platform, with consistent performance, and good support
Hitachi's support helps us to quickly and effectively resolve any issues we may have. Hitachi's roadmap is good. They maintain consistent performance levels with each new version and a robust platform. While we don't anticipate significant innovations in storage, the current storage capabilities are commendable. I am satisfied with the decision to purchase Hitachi products because they provide a storage solution with good performance and quality, which is exactly what we need. The solution's performance, specifically IOPS, is good. Since we have a complex business, knowing that the system's performance is reliable provides us with peace of mind. The flexible media option, which helps consolidate multiple use cases within the same platform, is very important because it provides a significant performance boost.

Offers good support but there are issues with the language barrier
Huawei has a lot of penetration into accounts in Islamabad and the whole region, especially in Islamabad, because this is where our capital is, this is where most of the government offices are. They have a really nice marketing team that keeps on promoting all of their successes over various platforms. They are relatively cheaper when it comes to cloud services but they have a few weaknesses at the same time. IBM has AI tools and they have IBM Watson and Huawei doesn't. If you compare our deployment team from IBM versus our technical team from Huawei, with IBM we have five people, and for Huawei, we have 20 people. There is a major difference because you're getting more business from Huawei compared to IBM. We have a separate team for administration, installation, configuration, storage, and cloud.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"This is one of the most reliable and dependable products on the market."
"The first thing that attracted this model to us was the non-disruptive migration. We had a very large database application that was on older gear and needed to be migrated to these arrays. We had experience with virtualizing behind an array and moving applications and data but this made it even better."
"Storage is the most valuable feature."
"There are no significant challenges in terms of scalability, and it can accommodate larger storage capacities compared to other storage solutions."
"Its scalability and performance are the most valuable. It is quite scalable and has a huge capacity."
"It is very flexible, and it is very useful when you want to virtualize different storage from different vendors."
"The product offers high stability."
"I am happy about the storage system and availability."
"Huawei has a lot of penetration into accounts in Islamabad and the whole region, especially in Islamabad, because this is where our capital is, this is where most of the government offices are."

Cons

"The complex setup phase is an area where improvements are needed."
"The embedded management for installation feature has neither simplified nor complicated the management process, therefore, there is room for improvement."
"If they had a certain approach to layered storage, it would be better. For example, adaption to the browser, or having a centralized console."
"One problem is that there are too many management tools for the F Series and for all the other Hitachi storage systems. There are four or five such solutions. Maybe these could be combined in the future."
"There is a drawback related to Hitachi's configuration flexibility. The Hitachi storage platform solution is not flexible. That means that both the Hitachi and the partner presale guys have to do a lot of work to design a solution."
"The distributor needs more knowledgeable resources for technical support. It would be better to connect directly to the vendor in case of queries."
"One improvement I am hoping for in the next release is unified storage."
"The pricing is high, but the product is good. Additional features like data duplication might make it even better."
"It is an expensive product. They should lower the price."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price of the solution is reasonable compared to others, such as Dell EMC."
"It is expensive as compared to other vendors, but its price is good if you are looking for stability, reliability, performance, and security."
"The licensing cost of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G Series, whether it would be high or more affordable, would depend on location. For example, here in Brazil, Hitachi charges in dollars and this means my company still needs to convert that into local currency. Sometimes, my company also needs to discuss the pricing with the Hitachi sales team and request for a discount. At the moment, pricing for Hitachi is high, but my team can have some global funding or global accounts that would help reach the price my company is aiming for."
"Hitachi VSP's pricing is good compared to other brands."
"It is a little expensive."
"Pricing could be better, because the cost is very high."
"The cost price of this product is better than its competitors."
"This solution is cheaper than Dell EMC VMAX. When you are looking for a high-end solution, price matters, but availability and stability are more important than the price."
