Offers behavior analysis, improved our endpoint security posture but a lot of false positives where things are incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow
I would like to improve the integration process because a big selling point was the ease of integration within the Fortinet ecosystem. I would expect more built-in collaboration to allow for easier threat mitigation across Fortinet systems. The strength of FortiEDR lies in its overall ability to protect us from new threats. We have encountered issues with it as well. We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team. I would like to see improved heuristics so the system better understands what's legitimate and doesn't keep blocking it after minor updates.

Provides a centralized dashboard, protects older servers, and reduces our time to detect
Trend Vision One's ability to cover all our servers is important because we can detect and quarantine any vulnerabilities as well as block and isolate third-party applications from being installed on our servers. The centralized visibility empowers us to monitor and manage all our servers from a single console. This includes generating reports, deploying security updates, and identifying offline or outdated servers. The centralized visibility and management across protection layers have helped increase our efficiency. We receive alerts and make changes all from one place. Trend Vision One helps us protect our servers, specifically our older servers that are not supported by Microsoft. It has reduced our time to detect by 50 percent. Trend Micro XDR has reduced the time spent on false positive alerts by up to 40 percent.

A technically stable and feature-rich endpoint security, but potential drawbacks include higher renewal costs and challenges with technical support
There is a need for enhancement in certain reporting formats. For instance, if I need information about the impact of a specific virus or a particular email in terms of infections over the past two or three months, the current reporting system lacks this capability. Currently, I have to manually input the details, generate a report, and then extract the information from the entire Excel sheet. I would prefer an improvement where this filtering capability is available directly in the initial report. There are two notable points that need consideration. Firstly, the technicalities of Trend Micro are evolving due to the software's cloud nature. Secondly, as a client, such as a hospital and not an IT-focused organization, we require a more user-friendly approach. Trend Micro should consider simplifying processes for clients like us, acknowledging that not every organization is an IT company. We want to maintain our focus on our core business rather than having to divert attention to IT.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The setup is pretty simple."
"The stability is very good."
"Ability to get forensics details and also memory exfiltration."
"Impressive detection capabilities"
"It is stable and scalable."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other."
"XDR provided a much more deep view into what is actually happening."
"We had previously deployed on-premises, and all we had to do was access the designated console and click a button to migrate all on-premises agents to cloud agents."
"Its detection rate is valuable. It is really an easy product to install and manage. It is quite effective at what it does, and if needed, it can also be co-managed, which means 24 hours and seven days a week monitoring through a SOC."
"They were one of the companies, early on, that spent a lot of time integrating their toolsets, and I was really impressed with that... the endpoint management system could reach out to the Deep Discovery system on the network and pick up something that it perceived as a suspicious object."
"VisionOne offers a clear window into the security posture of our endpoints."
"The proactive approach is the best feature."
"For scalability, I would give a rating of ten out of ten."
"The solution is very easy to use."
"The monitoring is very good."
"Its ability to detect ransomware and malware is the most valuable. Its protection is also good."
"It's easier to integrate Apex One than Kaspersky. It also performs well, and the customer feedback has been positive."
"Its threat-hunting capabilities and the information about the known threats are the most available features. It can easily catch any threat in our environment."
"It's made it easier for us to monitor the security environment in general."
"The most valuable aspect is achieving zero attacks and zero data compromise."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the endpoint security with the zero-day vulnerability. They have an on-premise sandboxing solution which prevents any of those zero-day vulnerability issues."
"I like One Endpoint Security's playbooks because they make it easier to set rules and policies. You can customize the playbooks and use them in more than one company. If you manage multiple businesses, it's a great way to set separate policies for each group. You can check for vulnerabilities, attacks, bugs, or anything strange. It also allows you to conduct performance analysis."

Cons

"It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"I haven't seen the use of AI in the solution."
"To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced."
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"The solution is not user-friendly."
"The centralized dashboard has room for improvement."
"We'd like to see a few more integrations."
"When you deploy these tools from Trend Micro, the integration and getting them to work together, are among the more difficult pieces of the puzzle. But when you get that set up and working, you're glad you did."
"A room for improvement in Trend Micro XDR is more visibility into the alerts. We do get alerts from the solution, but when we are away, we need to have more visibility."
"Trend Micro doesn't have the next-generation firewall."
"It would be ideal if they could improve the control of connectivity between sensors."
"The support documentation could be more comprehensive."
"It is very expensive."
"Technical support is very very slow. There is no French support. Only English. The experts are in England, the United States, or Japan, I don't know where. So the support is really lacking."
"The reporting can be improved. We'd like to have had broader insights as to what was happening on a machine."
"The tool needs to improve its dashboard so that all the products can be managed from a single console."
"I'd like to see the different interface components combined into one, or be allowed to get to the agent management portion without having to log into the main console."
"This software could affect the performance of your device negatively, particularly causing slow performance after installation."
"I want more options and flexibility when creating rules. I want to set rules that are contingent, like "If this happens, then this, this, and this will happen.""
"No product can ever be rated a ten out of ten. They are always improving on one aspect or another."
"The time required for Apex One to notify us of detection in the central console should be reduced."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I know it is tough to get big budget additions up front, but I highly recommend deploying environment wide and adding the forensic service."
"The hardware costs about €100,000 and about €20,000 annually for access."
"The pricing is typical for enterprises and fairly priced."
"Fortinet FortiEDR is available at a very competitive price compared to the other products in the market."
"Fortinet FortiEDR has a yearly subscription."
"The solution is not expensive."
"Offered at a high price"
"The price is comprable to other endpoint security solutions."
"It is definitely not cheap. I do believe you get what you pay for to some degree. It is cost-effective."
"It is costly. It is not that affordable for a small organization. Only big organizations can afford it. It is a new feature that has been added, so its price is fair. Its licensing is probably subscription-based. It is for one or two years."
"They've introduced a credit system, where we purchase credits and then allocate them to the specific services we need active."
"It would be nice if it was a little bit cheaper, but I think it has a fair price. It is comparable to others in the market."
"The pricing of the solution is okay. There is a need for me to look into the new pricing plan introduced by the solution recently."
"The pricing for Trend Vision One is reasonable."
"The solution is fairly priced."
"Trend Micro XDR is expensive, and you have to pay for it yearly."
"The license fee for 300 users is approximately $2,000 USD and $500 USD for the implementation cost."
"Apex One is a bit expensive, but the additional AWS costs are limited. It's competitive compared to other solutions in the market. It's a good price for the functionality that it provides."
"The price for Trend Micro is reasonable."
"Apex One's pricing is highly competitive. That's one advantage. We compared the pricing of solutions that do everything we want, and others are more expensive than what we have. There are no additional maintenance fees, but we have a support contract that we renew annually."
"The cost of this solution is mid-level; not cheap nor expensive."
"Licensing costs depend completely on the number of users or licenses. They have a specific pricing structure. For example, if you are looking for 100 users to be on the product, in the Indian market (we're based in India), the cost is nearly $2,500 to $3,000 maximum for one three-year license."
"Its pricing should be improved."
"Trend Micro Apex One's pricing is good."
