Increases visibility, allows for private boards, and helps with organization
Pros and Cons
  • "It's really helped to streamline communication between our team members as well as our clients."
  • "The docs feature seems like it could be a little more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

Our entire marketing team uses Monday to manage our day-to-day operations. It is the best possible tool to keep our team organized. Additionally, our creative department uses Monday to manage all of the creative requests that come in, whether that's internal or from our clients.

It really allows us to fully track projects and communication efficiently, as well as share information between team members quickly. Our entire team would be lost without using Monday.com, I don't think we could function without it.

How has it helped my organization?

It's really helped to streamline communication between our team members as well as our clients.

We are a growing digital marketing agency and have used Monday.com to show our clients how we value full transparency when we're working on different tasks/projects for them. Adding outside users to the Monday boards really helps us bring home that concept.

It makes a big impact when we can show what we're working on for someone, tag them on the board, and really visually be able to describe what our team is doing for them.

What is most valuable?

The ability to upload large files is extremely beneficial to our creative department. It helps to keep everything in one place instead of trying to use outside cloud-based platforms to transfer files.

Our team also uses the calendar view and board features for time off tracking for our staff. This gives everyone full visibility to see when people are in the office or when they are out of the office, on vacation, etc.

We also love that you can make private boards for projects that may only involve a few people on the team.

What needs improvement?

The docs feature seems like it could be a little more user-friendly. I would love to be able to use the docs and tag individual users that are directly correlating to individual cards.

I know you can import essentially an entire section from a board, however, it would be great to just be able to pull in one specific item from a board vs pulling in the entire group of items. I'm not sure if this is possible with the current API, however, I would love to see it work more like a google doc to take notes for our team calls, etc.

Centralizes communications, offers great visibility, and makes it easy to assign tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "I am able to add in deadlines and filter by work assigned, in progress, and completed."
  • "It would be nice to have a general section at the top of each group."

What is our primary use case?

I work at a digital marketing agency. I am a media buyer, and I am constantly working with other departments on my team (graphic designers, email, project managers, dev team, account managers, etc).

Monday allows clear communication by task, project, and department and makes it easy for us since we are all in different time zones. I like Monday as it allows me to divide up my work by client. I can color coordinate each client and have all necessary work/tasks/projects under each client. I organize by month to ensure everything is done on time and can start over fresh at the beginning of each month.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday allows me to divide up my work by tasks or clients. I am able to add in deadlines and filter by work assigned, in progress, and completed.

It's very helpful as a visual tool of what my daily tasks are. It's the perfect solution for someone who is very into organization and also is a visual person, as you can color code everything, filter by the specifications you desire (due date, progress, client, etc), and you're able to "clean" the space by removing tasks that have already been completed.

What is most valuable?

My favorite feature is being able to create team tasks and assign them to the correct team member with the necessary due dates, notes, documents, etc.

Everything is held all in one place which makes communication and visibility great.

It's easy to get siloed into your own department, and when you're working remotely sometimes communication can be hard. Being able to see the progress in real-time of different projects that you are working on with team members is very helpful.

You can even add clients to the tasks so they can also keep up to date with how things are coming along.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice to have a general section at the top of each group. For instance, I have my own media buying board that is divided up into "groups" (one for each client). It would be ideal to have a place at the top of each group to write down evergreen information. For example, for me, I could include things like goals, budget, strategy, quarterly to-do's, and other things I am not necessarily checking off or marking as done weekly or monthly. This could also be helpful when onboarding new employees and getting them brought up to speedo on clients. It could also be a place where we link things like brand guidelines and other important documents from the client.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about a year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Youtrack. It was not user-friendly and not very visual.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the implementation in-house.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options first.

Great collaboration capabilities with helpful copy and tracking features
Pros and Cons
  • "It has made the entire tracking process much easier."
  • "If Monday.com could increase the refresh rate of the site, that would make things a little better."

What is our primary use case?

Our team manages a portfolio of projects. Each team member manages their own portfolio. We use Monday.com to track projects, alongside costs, time, etc. If a client sends updates, we keep track of these notes within Monday.com as this allows team members the ability to stay in the loop with the project.

We also use Monday.com to keep record of holidays and PTO (Paid Time Off). We utilize a dashboard that allows visibility into each persons requests to help us plan when we will need additional support to ensure project management stays on track.

How has it helped my organization?

It has made the entire tracking process much easier.

It gives an easy, high-level view of the inner workings of the business. It cuts out the need to constantly send emails and follow-up emails for the current status of a project.

It also ensures we are not wasting time waiting on responses when we can easily check the status of a project by using Monday.com. As our team continues to grow, it also provides an easy way for new team members to ensure they are 'visible' and able to see what everyone else is currently working on.

What is most valuable?

The collaboration capabilities are great. It makes it much easier to know who is working on which projects, as well as who they are working with. It's also been super helpful to be able to 'copy' an item, as so often our projects are similar in nature so I am able to quickly use the copy feature and then change a few details to match the new project. This may only save a few seconds, however, it does make things much simpler and more efficient. I also like the ability to assign a project to another team member where needed, this makes it easier to pass on work when required.

What needs improvement?

Overall, Monday.com does a good job of providing a valuable service. It's hard for me to pinpoint any areas that I feel are significantly lacking. One area perhaps that could be improved upon would be the drag feature. For example, when I need to drag one item/project from one space and move to another. Often, it can appear to move very slowly and I end up misplacing where I am intending to put the item. Otherwise, if Monday.com could increase the refresh rate of the site, that would make things a little better also.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for over one year now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I've been very impressed with the stability; I have never had any issues. The system is constantly working and I've never experienced any system outages/unexpected delays from Monday.com

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is scalable. I believe it has the potential to be in every company.

How are customer service and support?

We have not had to interact with customer service/support yet.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not look at any other service.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

What was our ROI?

The ROI we have seen is in the ease with which our team is able to efficiently work together. It's hard to put a price on that.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm unfamiliar with pricing as I am just a user.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Our company has only used Monday.com.

What other advice do I have?

I have no notes at present; keep up the great work!

Malleable with tons of features and great tagging capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "I love that Monday.com has boards that can change with a click from a list, to a calendar, to a form that you can send and collect data, etc."
  • "I find that I sometimes have used the "status" column has input values other than done, working on it, etc., which conflicts with this bigger picture, and over the years is building up in a way that looks daunting as I'm not sure how to go back and mark it another way, so I skip it."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com as a communications solution for our different teams to effectively have individual ownership of completing assigned weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks and projects.

Our teams using Monday.com consists of the following: sales, management, operations/administrative, production, and more.

I have a shared workspace with my co-music director, assistant music director, and SDR, (we'll be onboarding another SDR and assistant music director soon) where we convene weekly via meetings, take notes, then post our weekly directives with deadlines in our main workspace.

How has it helped my organization?

The tiered top-down organization of teams > groups > projects > individually assigned tasks and accountability is remarkable.

Tagging people is super easy with "pulses" that can show up in an inbox, as a direct email, as notifications on desktops and devices, of which I use multiple devices and it's great on all of them. The interaction between different company departments is seamless and our departments contribute information to each other on a minute-by-minute and hourly basis.

The software is designed in such a way that any company can form fit it to handle complex workflow.

What is most valuable?

I love that Monday.com has boards that can change with a click from a list, to a calendar, to a form that you can send and collect data, etc.

Each board is malleable even if you've been using it for a long time. Redesigning and keeping your data is pretty easy. The output of information to spreadsheets is quite simple.

There are so many other features that I haven't even tapped into, however, I sometimes look for features and there is always some kind of plug-in that Monday.com has at the ready. There are so many support options to make sure your workspace is precisely what you need to have to improve your own job's efficiency.

What needs improvement?

I'm very satisfied and don't have much to say regarding immediate improvement feedback. If it doesn't exist, perhaps there could be a simplified view of all personal tasks that haven't yet been completed.

"My Work" is a board that is supposed to take care of this. I find that I sometimes have used the "status" column has input values other than done, working on it, etc., which conflicts with this bigger picture, and over the years is building up in a way that looks daunting as I'm not sure how to go back and mark it another way, so I skip it. This could be my own user malfunction.

Generally, I'm quite happy with the software.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using monday.com since June of 2020. I love it.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Monday.com seems quite stable. From June of 2020 until today, 4/20/22, I have only experienced the software being "down" maybe two times for development. It seems very stable to me even as we feed it a lot of info.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is huge. We started small and have grown to well-designed boards. We've grown to seven workspaces that I know about. Each workspace has pretty deep departmental personalities.

How are customer service and support?

I feel that customer service has probably been pretty strong. I have never heard any grumbling from our team members regarding the usability of Monday.com or challenges in figuring out how to use it.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We mostly used Google Docs in the past for company organizing. We still do, however, we switched to Monday.com as it is way more comprehensive for project management.

How was the initial setup?

The initial set up was slightly clumsy for us, however, those growing pains faded pretty quickly once the software became familiar.

We have many team members who are adept at setting up boards and groups efficiently now.

The initial complexity was simply getting familiar with the depth of the software, however, it was pretty intuitive and set up well to self-educate (including "help" and online tutorials, etc.).

What about the implementation team?

I don't know if we had outside assistance or not.

What was our ROI?

I don't know the price, however, we use this software every day constantly, so the return is certainly worth it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I'm only a user of the software; I'm not privy to the costs and licensing.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I didn't choose Monday.com. I do not know if other options were in the running.

What other advice do I have?

I received an email tonight from a person at another company who noticed that we shared a Monday.com query form to complete. She reached out to me directly via email to ask how I like Monday.com. I gave a great review to her and told her to reach out if she has questions.

Great features, various views, and a helpful kanban tool
Pros and Cons
  • "I really really like the sort by name or dates functions as they toggle and make being able to offer super-quick organization a breeze, especially when client-facing."
  • "I have never not found a feature I want."

What is our primary use case?

I work in multiple areas in design, consulting, and managing health businesses, and enjoy my environments being diverse across the board.

I often will add my clients as guests and sometimes also as collaborators. I am often remote and not office based so having a tool that has a well-functioning app is integral to retaining me as a customer and the clients usually say they love the easy app also.

I am also a visual/design-motivated person so the aesthetics and UX side of a tool is integral also.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday.com has really improved the professional presentation of information and the ability for me to be able to facilitate transparency on the progress of a variety of jobs.

I also use it for personal use with budgeting and helping me with day-to-day life as the deadlines functions keep me on track.

The kanban tool is great when working with teams. My personal subscription when shared has usually resulted in clients signing up themselves as it is so user-friendly. Obviously, it's well developed and tested prior to release.

What is most valuable?

I have really appreciated the many features of Monday.com. The most valuable are usually the ones I repeatedly use time and time and time again.

I really really like the sort by name or dates functions as they toggle and make being able to offer super-quick organization a breeze, especially when client-facing.

The ability to have timeline and calendar views is simply magnificent - they really help too especially when partnered with the useful alarms functions to remind us when stuff needs to happen.

What needs improvement?

I have never not found a feature I want. Monday.com is intuitive to use, and color coding and groups make tracking tasks a breeze. The calendar and Kanban features are aces. Being able to store files in tasks also makes organizing and finding large volumes of information so easy, especially over time.

The phone app is awesome and any clients I have ever added to my boards have gone on to subscribe themselves following access.

I have tried other tools since first subscribing but have always ended up coming back to Monday. Who thought you could ever love Mondays so much?

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for several years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I'm very positive in regard to the stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I'm very positive about the scalability.

How are customer service and support?

We've never needed support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I did not use a different solution previously.

I do find the pricing a little expensive.

Great integrations, customization capabilities, and excellent collaboration features
Pros and Cons
  • "I love being able to "check off" a task by changing its status to "done." It also disappears off the list when you complete it."
  • "Monday.com has tons of features and capabilities. However, you’ll need to upgrade your plan to actually benefit the most from these tools."

What is our primary use case?

Our education team at our non-profit uses this site to assign each other tasks, to stay organized, and to sort out different categories of things to focus on.

In addition to its support for a wide range of use cases, the site is loaded with functionality.

It comes with collaboration features, timeline views, calendar views, time tracking features, and dozens of integrations.

My boss usually will tag me in task items after our weekly meetings so that we can keep track of them together. When I have completed a task, I enjoy changing the tab from "working on it" to "done". It is so satisfying!

How has it helped my organization?

It has drastically helped me to get organized in the office and for personal to-do lists as well.

Our whole nonprofit uses it to tag each other for meetings and tasks to work on and focus on. Whether you want a big-picture view or want to see daily tasks at-a-glance, you can easily switch views and drill down or zoom out as far as you need.

The satisfaction that I receive from completing tasks pushes me to want to complete the whole list.

With the right integrations, you don’t have to bounce back and forth between platforms, you can build workflow automation to eliminate repetitive administrative tasks, and keep everyone in the loop on autopilot.

Monday’s project management software syncs up with just about anything you’d need it to, including Slack, Dropbox, Zoom, and Google Calendar.

What is most valuable?

I love being able to "check off" a task by changing its status to "done." It also disappears off the list when you complete it.

Monday.com is one of the few project management tools on the market with built-in time tracking capabilities. Most project management tools only offer time tracking as an add-on. When the time tracking and project management tools play well together, you get a deeper look at how long tasks take, the entire timeline of your projects—down to the minute, and identify your most time-consuming tasks. You can turn the tracker on or off with a click or enter time manually. You can even track time from anywhere using the mobile app and a few taps.

Thanks to Monday.com’s automation, you can eliminate repetitive tasks, like notifying your team or moving a card from one column to the next. It's great!

What needs improvement?

I don't have any feedback for improvement - I love the site. The idea behind a project management platform is that it makes your lives easier rather than adding yet another tool your team doesn’t know how to use.

In less than an hour, you and your team will know all you need to know—without relying on professional training. There’s an extensive knowledge base with hundreds of video tutorials to help you get started, troubleshoot problems, and get your crew up to speed. When we were introduced, we loved the concept and didn't even need training for it.

Monday.com has tons of features and capabilities. However, you’ll need to upgrade your plan to actually benefit the most from these tools. For example, Gantt charts and timeline views aren’t available with the entry-level plan. To access time tracking and private boards, you’ll need to upgrade to a higher level.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Monday for about a year now. It was introduced to my team at work.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I used a regular planner and my smartphone before. I now have Monday on my phone as an app and it's great.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

If you want all of the features, be willing to pay more, however, the basic levels are great.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was not in a position to choose, however, I am glad we went with Monday.

Worth the money with great automation and helpful tracking capabilities
Pros and Cons
  • "All employees can access it so everyone is in the know of what jobs are coming in and what jobs are going out."
  • "It does everything we need it to, so no improvements are necessary."

What is our primary use case?

We are a manufacturing company and we use Monday.com to keep track of our production log. It has simplified our work and all employees can access it from anywhere.

We also use it for our sample logs, employee holidays and to see the invoice statuses.

How has it helped my organization?

All employees can access it so everyone is in the know of what jobs are coming in and what jobs are going out.

We can see what date something came in to our goods in, what we received using the description column, when invoices have been paid and what date the goods are expected to be delivered back to the customer.

What is most valuable?

All of it is great. It has a section for everything and you can create automation so it fits your needs perfectly.

What needs improvement?

It does everything we need it to, so I would say no improvements are necessary.

if I had to say something .. a link between boards that takes you to the board in question when you click on it.

e.g. board 1 for samples - related to board 2 production. If I could add a link from the sample to then take you to see what job it relates too (similar to when you click the link on the message area).

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is great.

How are customer service and support?

We have not yet used technical support, however, I have noticed when the platform is down, it gets resolved very quickly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Excel which was not as user-friendly and not as easily accessible for employees. We switched to Monday.com

How was the initial setup?

It's a very straightforward setup - all of the employees profiles are added at the beginning and can start viewing straight away.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the setup in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is well worth the money - a one stop shop management system.

Helpful for managing statuses for projects, notifications, and comment sections
Pros and Cons
  • "I especially like the dashboards where you can combine info from different boards into one."
  • "It would be nice to have more custom automation and also to simplify some steps to better manage a team and a workload for projects."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution for project and team management.

We use this to track project timelines, hours used, and the teams assigned to work on them. We also connect with clients in different time zones using the Monday.com platform and it has been working great for now.

There are some things I think it should implement, however, overall, it is a great platform to use for big or small teams. The organization capabilities are the main draw. I wish it had a better integration with Google Drive to share assets though.

Overall it does what we need which is to keep the team and projects aligned and organized.

How has it helped my organization?

We are a company with overseas teams and the platform helps us be all connected and updated in all of the projects we handle on a daily basis.

We also connect with clients and stakeholders on any updates a project may need to have.

We also use it for onboarding clients and new team members. This helps streamline the process and makes it very easy for everyone to learn the tool since we can set it up as different steps they need to go through.

Everyone is happy with this solution and also with the new features they launch every month.

What is most valuable?

The solution is helpful for managing statuses for projects, notifications, and comment sections. I especially like the dashboards where you can combine info from different boards into one.

I like the system's integration features since they allow me to streamline my work process. The UI/UX is simple and easy to use, making it easy to see where projects are and where they are headed. I particularly like how we can post summaries and project ideas in clearly accessible locations.

Everything we do is documented, which is useful for both internal and external purposes.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice to have more custom automation and also to simplify some steps to better manage a team and a workload for projects. It would also be nice to integrate a billing system in it for agencies to bill their clients.

There are some features that are overcomplicated to implement and that are not great for the user. I don't want to have to call someone every time I want to set up new automation or special board to get help.

There are some things we would like to be able to do that the platform doesn't have integrated and a lot of other platforms are needed to make it work.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for almost two years.

How are customer service and support?

We've had a good experience so far; all our questions were answered or solved.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Yes, however, this one is the one my current company uses.

What about the implementation team?

We did the setup in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is a bit high for the enterprise level and it doesn't offer that many extra features.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Yes, however, it was not my decision to go with this product.

What other advice do I have?

There are things to improve, however, they are constantly adding new features for the users.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
