Under-implementation and lag in benchmark support and lacks support for AIX
We use CIS (Center for Internet Security) Benchmark. It's actually a membership-type thing. And they have hardening rules and benchmarks, and it's a very common standard. They have products out there that Syscat is an older one, and they have a newer one, which I can't remember the name of. But it runs on your system, and they have benchmarks in there, and it scores your system based on hardening. We maintain a matrix of our hardened systems on a daily basis and know whether that score changed or not and alert if it does change. And then, in our environment, we have a whole lot of other tools out there.

Provides necessary protection against current and relevant threats
I use Trend Micro Deep Security to enhance the security of our servers, which run various operating systems, including Solaris. For our servers, especially those involved in Webex, we deploy agents and enable specific modules like anti-malware, intrusion detection, and firewall protection Trend…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's what we use the CIS Benchmarks for. It's for employing hardening rules and keeping them up to date when things happen on our systems. So it's really configurations and stuff that harden and report back."
"It helps with virtual patching and IDS fetching."
"It's easy to use and the interface is simple."
"The customer service/technical support for this solution is very fast."
"Patch management is most valuable. The major selling point of Deep Security is that it is based on the cloud. Deep Security is for the servers and databases of data centers, and generally, for patch management, you have to shut down the machines, and then you have to restart them. So, they need shutdown time, which is a cost. Big enterprises don't want to shut down their database or their data center for any kind of patch. Deep Security creates a wall and downloads all patches. You install it on the cloud. So, it saves your server from any kind of intrusion or any kind of penetration, and whenever you get a chance or time, in six, eight, or nine months, you can physically download or install all those patches in one go. So, it saves you time. It also saves your shutdown time and keeps your data center safe."
"Deep Security provides us with a lot of reassurance about security threats. You don't have to worry about a patch not being there in the software. You're confident that all the patches and vulnerabilities are taken care of."
"Support and threat prevention are the most valuable features of this solution."
"The traceback feature in XDR is amazing. You can trace back an attack. You can playback where an attack actually occurred and see how the attacker moved. We can easily show this to management, and it makes it easy to make them understand and convince them, which is the best thing."
"It is connected into an intelligence database and is quick to pick up new threats. It also reduces my workload with its speed and the protection that it provides."

Cons

"This solution is really unusable from my perspective at this point. Overall, I would rate the solution a one of ten."
"The cost is very high."
"There is room for improvement with Trend Micro Deep Security, as there are instances where installations may need to be redone. There seem to be glitches when working with older Windows servers, such as those from 2003 or 2005, requiring us to uninstall and reinstall the product to resolve the issue."
"The email relays and proxies could be improved."
"I would like them to add EDR features, moving away from traditional signature-based anti-malware."
"It would be better if they merge a few features into one product. For example, they have an encryption feature that is separately sold. If they could merge it with Apex One or any endpoint security solution, maybe it would also be good for the end user."
"There should be signature-based advanced and responsive features."
"The situation with the currency in Turkey makes this solution a little bit on the expensive side, and if it were lowered then it would be more competitive."
"I would rate tech support in the range of six to eight out of 10. Time to provide solution could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The AWS licensing model is scalable and easy to use, but could do with tiered discounts. I am not sure how well this model will scale when we start to use Auto Scaling with AWS resources."
"We did not purchase it through the AWS Marketplace because we have used Trend Micro in the past."
"I rate the price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is low, and ten is a high price. It is a very costly tool...There are no additional payments to be made other than the normal price of the tool."
"Purchasing this solution through the AWS Marketplace was secure and quick. AWS has good prices for a good product."
"There is a subscription cost to use this product."
"The pricing is fair."
"It's more expensive than other solutions, such as Sophos and Kaspersky, as an endpoint solution."
"Some of our customers complain about the cost of this solution."
