Used for unified observability, network compliance with built-in multiple dashboard
LogicMonitor is a SaaS-based solution, but users can deploy it wherever they want. They can deploy collectors in the cloud, on-premises, on their servers, or VMs. It's flexible in how it can be deployed. However, unlike many other monitoring tools, you don't need to set up a lot of infrastructure. For an enterprise customer, LogicMonitor may not be considered excessively expensive. It tends to have a higher price tag compared to legacy monitoring solutions, yet it offers more value. Smaller customers with only a few hundred licenses might perceive it as pricier since they have fewer items to monitor and fewer demands. The true value of the solution shines in large, intricate environments where it can effectively monitor hundreds of devices. In terms of advice, anyone currently using a monitoring solution is likely aware of its shortcomings. I suggest not hesitating to challenge the status quo and explore alternative solutions. LogicMonitor, among others, represents a significant step forward in SaaS-based monitoring solutions. These platforms offer considerable value with minimal ramp-up time and learning curve. Considering a solution like LogicMonitor, it's crucial to identify the gaps in your current monitoring environment. I encourage you to try it; reach out to a reseller, such as myself, or directly to LogicMonitor to explore the platform. It's one of those situations where seeing is believing; you need to experience the value firsthand. We haven't had any issues with LogicMonitor. All of my clients have loved it and are renewing their subscriptions. It has been fantastic compared to many other tools we've used, especially in the reusability space. Overall, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

Easy to use, simple to learn, and offers real-time observability
We primarily use the solution for security as well as application monitoring. We use it for security as well.  The solution has been very critical for monitoring. It offers real-time observability. We're able to catch real issues right away.  We can manage multiple screens with multiple panels.…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"LogicMonitor helps us prevent potential downtime. It's pretty good. It generates low-level warnings that aren't necessarily preemptive but can still alert us to issues we should investigate. These warnings allow us to correlate data and identify areas where we should take action, even if the issues aren't critical."
"The breadth of its ability to monitor all our environments, putting it in one place, has been helpful. This way, we don't have to manage multiple tools and try to juggle multiple balls to keep our environment monitored. It presents a clear picture to us of what is going on."
"LogicMonitor saves time in terms of its ability to proxy a connection through a device. For example, if you are troubleshooting a device, which you may want to connect to, you can proxy this connection through the platform. As a support resource, I don't need to use multiple platforms to connect to a device to further investigate the issue. It is all consolidated. From that perspective, it saves time because a resource now only needs to use one platform."
"Having a full team at LogicMonitor for support is super helpful as they are available all the time to answer any questions you may have."
"The most valuable feature of LogicMonitor is the infrastructure monitoring capability."
"LogicMonitor is good for getting a full view of your topologies. They have LiveMaps, which give you a visual representation of your infrastructure."
"LogicMonitor added AI technology to help understand what's normal and that has helped quite a bit, so that's the feature I found most valuable in the product. The product is also doing quite well with identifying devices and customizing a particular Cisco version or model number. LogicMonitor continues to be active in updating what is available to be monitored, and it's been very good with keeping those things current, so that's another valuable feature of the product."
"The concept of developing a dashboard template for ourselves, then cloning it for every single customer, and only having to change one piece of information, is a godsend. That's one of the strengths. We can develop a template that fits every customer and just change the information that is presented."
"We can ingest logs and make reports out of them. It is a good tool which can help us monitor any issues."
"We can integrate threat intelligence solutions into the product."
"Scalability has been good for our needs. We haven't run into any scaling issues in regards to size so far."
"Support has been excellent. Sumo Logic's support staff is really good, both their account management staff and direct support."
"I have no concerns about the stability of the product. I feel it handles the stress we put on it very well."
"It helps a lot because we can troubleshoot issues pretty easily."
"The tool has key features like operability. It will alert the admins whenever a device is onboarded."
"It provides easy visibility. I also like the shareable queries because we share a lot across groups."

Cons

"There are some very specific things that need improvement in LogicMonitor. One is the lack of formatting for customized alerts, particularly the delivery of them to our email channel. We'd also like to see further customization of dashboards. Finally, something that is specific to us as an MSP that uses LogicMonitor, is white-labeling or skinning of the product, so we can make it look more customer-focused for our customers."
"We are working with LogicMonitor to get flexibility to see the absolute running numbers, rather than doing an average. They can keep the average for customers who want it, but there should be a way to at least show the real numbers, which are coming every second on the screen."
"One drawback of LogicMonitor is its licensing model, which requires an additional license for each module. For example, if you need to use Azure monitoring, you'll need an additional license on top of the base license."
"The dashboards can be improved. They are good, but there is a pain point. To show things to management, to explain pain points to other customers, to show them exactly where we can do better, the dashboarding could be better. Dashboards need to show the key things. Nobody is going to go into the ample details of Excel sheets or HTML."
"The only functional area I can think of that has room for improvement would be the dashboards. They could use a refresh. It would be nice if there were more widgets and more types of widgets."
"LogicMonitor can easily easy to pull data from one item at a time. I have yet to find a good way to get LogicMonitor to show me all the WAN devices and how they're doing in terms of capacity."
"The topology mapping is all based on the dynamic discovery of devices that could talk to each other. There is no real manual way that you can set up a join between two devices to say, "This is how this network is actually set up." For example, if you have a device, and you're only pinning that device and not getting any real intelligent information from it, then it can't appear on the map with other devices. Or if it can appear, then it won't show you which devices are actually joined to it."
"LogicMonitor has good features, but the ease of use is a little bit confusing. Additionally, we are looking for workflow automation, which is a little bit tricky for LogicMonitor."
"If you look at some of the other offerings right now that are available in the market, they do offer APM as well as the product they're offering. I believe Sumo Logic is not there yet. So that's something which I would love to see."
"Sumo Logic Security is expensive, and its pricing could be improved."
"There are some API gaps that are missing."
"If you want to up your subscription through the AWS Marketplace, it can be difficult. You can't just go back to the AWS Marketplace, and say, "I want a bigger one now." You have to contact the sales team, then they do it on the back-end. This could definitely be improved."
"It would be nice to have an improved ability to scroll through logs within a time frame. Right now, we can search for specific errors. However, if we want to look for "before and after" within a specific time frame, it's not easy using the tool. This would be an improvement."
"The solution should improve its UI."
"I would like to see improvement in the user experience when configuring things, ingesting logs, and creating ports."
"We would like to have some type of predefined setup for the logs, making the setup easier by default."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"In terms of pricing, I would rate LogicMonitor four out of five."
"We are on an enterprise license plan, we are paying $7.75 per device a month. That is for a commitment of 350 devices. Anything that is over the 350 is charged at 1.2 times the rate; 1.2 times $7.75 would be the overage charge. We are looking at increasing our commitment to either 450 or 500 devices. It changes our pricing if we go to 450 devices, bringing it from $7.75 down to $7.70. If we go for 500 devices, it brings it from $7.75 down to $7.50. We will probably factor in the volume discount drop from $7.75 to $7.50 in our decision of whether we uplift or not. We also have some cloud monitors, which are about $500 a month."
"We pay for the enterprise tech support."
"The features were very valuable to us because we could consolidate them into one platform and have a good user experience with the platform, our accounts, and the support team. That was the key driver for us. That was what we were looking for. We looked for a comprehensive solution that could provide advanced features all in one platform, and LogicMonitor was the solution that we chose. It definitely has a premium price. However, you are getting what you pay for in a very effective way. That was important in our decision-making.The features were very valuable to us because we could consolidate them into one platform and have a good user experience with the platform, our accounts, and the support team. "LogicMonitor is competitively priced at the same level as other vendors, like Datadog."
"I know we are saving at least several hundred thousand dollars in that we're not buying Cisco Prime."
"We've had customers who have reduced their costs by not having multiple platforms for monitoring. That said, especially with super-large environments, the cost model for LogicMonitor is the one area where we run into issues."
"We have definitely seen ROI with LogicMonitor. We used to provide 24/7 IT support for our users. We have since been able to change to operating just within normal business hours for IT support, and LogicMonitor was a large part of being able to accomplish that."
"The license pricing model is based on the events that are processed through the solution."
"The pricing is good. It's not an issue for us."
"Purchasing Sumo Logic through the AWS Marketplace was a simple step."
"Pricing has been cheaper than some of the competing tools, like Splunk."
"The AWS Marketplace pricing is borderline. Every annual renewal, we always contemplate if we are getting what we think we could out of it or could we do it cheaper with some other product."
"I don't pay the bill. I've heard the AWS Marketplace pricing is high, but I like the value."
"If we went to ELK Stack, which is open source, it would have been less costly, but it would have required more development from our side."
"The pricing is a little high, but for the features that we receive from Sumo Logic, it suits the price. For some small organizations, the price might be a little high."
