Customizable, flexible, and saves on costs
The most valuable aspects of the solution include customization like custom objects, events, and menus. They offer the best advantages. We were able to do lots of automatization and increased functionalities with light modifications by ourselves, saving lots of money. Having a young talented programmer, during the six years of use, we were able to save around 75 000 EUR preparing simple modifications using customization rather than ordering them in IFS / Partner. The company management still believes that IFS with its flexibility is the best choice for companies that don't want to change all their processes in the way that an ERP system might require.

A hybrid scalable solution with a good user interface
The initial setup is easy. We have more than three teams, including an analysis and design team, a functional team, a technical team, a database administrator, and developers to deploy the solution. It takes around three months to two years to complete the deployment. It depends on the scope and financial cash flow of the customer. He may need to go through long-term implementation. Some customers need to finalize it in two months, but we usually do it in three months. First, we begin with project initiation, preparing for customer and stakeholder analysis, requirement gathering, and other preliminary steps before conducting detailed research. We adhere to the primary objectives, ensuring maintenance at the customer's end. Next, we move into the analysis phase, conducting an in-depth analysis of each process across all departments within the project scope. Upon obtaining approval for the applicable requirement document, we proceed to the design phase, developing a useful design document outline. Following the implementation of Business Central, these procedures exist primarily in virtual documentation and conceptual planning. Once approved, we initiate configuration and data gathering, including uploads and related tasks, proceeding to a demo showcasing the approved functionalities outlined in the design document. Subsequently, we focus on training and eventually transition to the go-live phase. These steps constitute our standard procedure for each project phase. During configuration, attention is paid to master data, group security, and all necessary elements within the configuration framework.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature is the maintenance module, which is essentially an industry-specific workflow designed with a manufacturing module as per industry standards. It's very precise and specific without having complex functionalities. It's straightforward. Field Service Management is definitely a wonderful product that IFS has developed because it caters to field services. The energy and utility sectors can answer their business needs using the software."
"The product is quite flexible."
"The main reason for the ERP project was to bring together our fourteen sites, which had until then worked in separate silos."
"The solution overall is very versatile and flexible, especially compared to other products."
"A high level of ERP can be handled in IFS."
"One of our favorite features is the "Info-Zone", which provides operational intelligence in flight and in context to guide both business users and support teams to productivity."
"Individual user profiles that can be configured as templates to minimize data entry."
"I like the connectivity and interfaces. In V10, it's easy to modify the interfaces and layouts, but it's becoming more complicated in the cloud. IFS is excellent at asset maintenance and incident management. They have specialized modules for IFS that cover incident and asset management and everything else connected to finance. The reporting in IFS is also easy to use."
"Microsoft Dynamics NAV's most valuable feature is the integration with other Microsoft solutions."
"The solution can scale."
"The selling feature is the most valuable."
"It is a stable solution."
"Our data is much more manageable than before."
"This is readily available and affordable, as well as user-friendly and simple to use in my opinion."
"The customer support is good. The first level of support agent in every case was able to solve the problem very quickly."
"NAV covers everything from purchasing and selling items to invoicing. Everything is within NAV, so it's all very neat."

Cons

"IFS Applications is not robust enough to handle high-volume transactions, so it's not suitable for larger enterprises."
"The integration is a bit complex, and post-implementation support services need to be improved. They have a service center based out of Sri Lanka. The support aspect is good, but the response time is a little slower than we anticipated. In the next release, it would be better if Warehouse Management could be improvised. They have a product line that's a data warehouse management system, but it's still premature and requires a bit of enhancement."
"Aspects of HR and payroll could be better."
"It would be ideal if, in the future, the product could incorporate IoT and blockchain elements. We'd like to explore more of these types of features going forward."
"There should be some improvements in the predefined templates in IFS Applications."
"There were initial difficulties when I started using the application."
"I have seen that one of the areas that my company has identified for improvement might be the rental management capabilities within the solution."
"The solution's initial setup process was complex...The technical support my company receives from the implementation partners of the solution is not that great."
"There is a lot of improvement needed in the top model, such as better integration with logistics, quality management, and data modeling for all revenue types."
"We need to customize more often than we would like."
"Some of the control aspects such as auditing can definitely be improved. For example, auditing is not very easy, and the user permissions are complicated."
"The solution is not best suited for larger-scale businesses."
"The solution is stable, but it could improve."
"The price of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central could be reduced."
"I wouldn't say that Microsoft Dynamics is very scalable."
"The configuration packages can be somewhat tiresome at times, and they can be slow when loading data."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is relatively high compared to competitors."
"IFS Applications are competitive in terms of pricing compared to other vendors, such as SAP, Oracle, and Epicor. They are generally cheaper, especially for licensing costs."
"There are varying license levels that you can purchase."
"Pricing is an area that could be improved. They could be more competitive."
"We pay for a license to use the solution, which is not very expensive."
"The pricing of the solution may appear to be expensive for smaller companies with only tens of users; however, for larger and mid-size industrial companies, IFS is able to win deals and the pricing is competitive in the market."
"Compared to SAP, the pricing for IFS Applications was very affordable. People using the solution would find that it's worth the money."
"It is better to buy implementation services from IFS than from partners"
"$80-$100 per license, per month."
"The price of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is reasonable."
"The license changes every year. Sometimes it's for fixed users, and sometimes it's for concurrent users."
"I give the solution a seven out of ten for pricing."
"The first time we tried to buy the newest version, it was expensive."
"The price of the solution is reasonable."
"In my opinion, the fees are reasonable."
"The solution's cost is reasonable."
