Great task features, useful multi-project tracking, and is great for project management
Pros and Cons
  • "It helps us to keep track of all of the remaining tasks on a project and the remaining number of days that exist on a project."
  • "It helps us to keep track of all of the remaining tasks on a project and the remaining number of days that exist on a project."
  • "The calendar selection for dates is not the easiest to navigate."
  • "The calendar selection for dates is not the easiest to navigate."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use Monday to keep track of action items for project management dealing with software development.

Our team manages multiple projects, and, for each project, we are able to create the individual tasks that need to be completed in order to finish the project.

We also use Monday to share with our team times that we will not be in the office or be available for team meetings.

It allows us to see which tasks are being worked on and which ones we have not started. It keeps our team members informed about our activities.

How has it helped my organization?

It helps us to keep track of all of the remaining tasks on a project and the remaining number of days that exist on a project.

It provides all team members with insights into multiple projects.

It also allows us to share information about project statuses with other team members.

I do like the feature where you can indicate whether you are working on a particular task or if you are stuck on a task.

It also gives provides more insight into the possible amount of time it could take to complete a specific task.

What is most valuable?

The ability to upload files associated with a particular task is very useful to us.

It helps us share examples of reports with our team members.

I have also found the task status feature to be valuable. You can indicate whether you have started on a task, are stuck on it, or have completed it.

I also like that you can add your own columns to each task within a project.

For example, if you wanted to add a column that's not already included in the Monday app to track a specific item for a project, you can do that as well.

What needs improvement?

The calendar selection for dates is not the easiest to navigate. Sometimes once you select a start date, it is hard to extend the selection out to the end date.  The date selection is confusing. If there was another method that they could use for this that would be better.

Also, I feel as though sometimes I received notifications for Monday boards that I am not even subscribed to and the notifications, in general, are a bit much.  There should be a way to indicate which Monday boards you would like to receive notifications for.

Excellent table planning, documentation, instant Gantt charting
Pros and Cons
  • "It's helped us organize and collaborate with clients and has been a great foundation/framework to support our growth."
  • "The product has helped our organization greatly, helping us organize and collaborate with clients and serving as a great foundation and framework to support our growth."
  • "Timetracking should be a little more powerful."
  • "Timetracking should be a little more powerful."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for project planning for software and UX design projects.

How has it helped my organization?

The product has helped our organization greatly. It's helped us organize and collaborate with clients and has been a great foundation/framework to support our growth.

What is most valuable?

We really enjoy table planning, documentation, instant Gantt charting, and collaboration. Emailing the board in updates is great. It offers helpful kanban views and multiple views in general. We can share it with clients as guests.

What needs improvement?

Story mapping would be ideal. Being able to create topic threads, not as updates and instead similar to Basecamp (in that it becomes a forum) would be useful.

Timetracking should be a little more powerful. A full harvest integration or something similar that allows time spent vs budget would be good.

The solution should offer burndown charts.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is quite good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is excellent and very proactive.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used to use Jira and switched as it's horrendously overcomplicated, scaled terribly, and takes the hardest path to a simple outcome.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is easy. It's great to let the user demo it for free.

What about the implementation team?

We did the setup in-house. It was not a great experience. I did it mostly myself.

What was our ROI?

ROI is unmeasurable in context of the product, however, I feel very satisfied we get value from the Monday investment.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Jira and Basecamp.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Reduces time-consuming tasks, helps with organization, and offers helpful color coding
Pros and Cons
  • "With Monday, everything is just one click away."
  • "Being able to keep track of everything has never been so easy."
  • "We'd like to see less downtime."
  • "We'd like to see less downtime. There have been times when I really needed to use Monday and it would be down for half a day and saying there is an error with the system."

What is our primary use case?

I am currently a recruiter at my job. I use the solution to keep track of everyone that is currently in the hiring process. I must say, It's so easy to keep track of everything - including what person needs to do which steps, who is ready to move on, etc.

It also helps to keep all 3rd parties I do hiring for separate from the others so there is no confusion. A majority of my work is being done through Fountain. Every important thing I need from someone, especially certain small details, is all a click away.

How has it helped my organization?

It has improved so much. We used to use Excel. Something somehow always went wrong. With Monday, everything is just so easy. I can make separate columns. It's really understandable. It's well organized. I just love it!

The separation of companies I hire for is quite helpful. Being able to keep track of everything has never been so easy. It has avoided our companies from having to look everywhere for certain things. It has taken time-consuming tasks down from minutes to seconds. It's easier to get things done.

What is most valuable?

Group separation and being able to change the colors of some categories are great.

That has been what I love the most. We used to have everything on paper and everything with colorful tabs to separate things. It's frustrating when everything keeps falling off.

With Monday, everything is just one click away. Everything we have is separated by groups within groups. Color has different meaning. We know when the tab is green by their name there ready to move on to the next thing. When something is red we know we are missing important documents. My co-workers and I are always on track and knowing what to get done with the hiring process.

What needs improvement?

We'd like to see less downtime. There have been times when I really needed to use Monday and it would be down for half a day and saying there is an error with the system.

Sometimes it can be really slow as well. Everything we need is kept on Monday. When Monday is down for half the day it's just a lot of time wasted. There are times we missed timelines to call certain places, as, by the time the system was finally up, the place we needed to call or the person we hired was no longer available.

For how long have I used the solution?

I been using Monday for half a year now.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used Excel before. We wanted something less time-consuming and more understandable.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's worth the price. The product has made everything a lot easier.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did look at other options. I wasn't the one who picked Monday, however.

Increases visibility, allows for private boards, and helps with organization
Pros and Cons
  • "It's really helped to streamline communication between our team members as well as our clients."
  • "Our entire team would be lost without using Monday.com, I don't think we could function without it."
  • "The docs feature seems like it could be a little more user-friendly."
  • "The docs feature seems like it could be a little more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

Our entire marketing team uses Monday to manage our day-to-day operations. It is the best possible tool to keep our team organized. Additionally, our creative department uses Monday to manage all of the creative requests that come in, whether that's internal or from our clients.

It really allows us to fully track projects and communication efficiently, as well as share information between team members quickly. Our entire team would be lost without using Monday.com, I don't think we could function without it.

How has it helped my organization?

It's really helped to streamline communication between our team members as well as our clients.

We are a growing digital marketing agency and have used Monday.com to show our clients how we value full transparency when we're working on different tasks/projects for them. Adding outside users to the Monday boards really helps us bring home that concept.

It makes a big impact when we can show what we're working on for someone, tag them on the board, and really visually be able to describe what our team is doing for them.

What is most valuable?

The ability to upload large files is extremely beneficial to our creative department. It helps to keep everything in one place instead of trying to use outside cloud-based platforms to transfer files.

Our team also uses the calendar view and board features for time off tracking for our staff. This gives everyone full visibility to see when people are in the office or when they are out of the office, on vacation, etc.

We also love that you can make private boards for projects that may only involve a few people on the team.

What needs improvement?

The docs feature seems like it could be a little more user-friendly. I would love to be able to use the docs and tag individual users that are directly correlating to individual cards.

I know you can import essentially an entire section from a board, however, it would be great to just be able to pull in one specific item from a board vs pulling in the entire group of items. I'm not sure if this is possible with the current API, however, I would love to see it work more like a google doc to take notes for our team calls, etc.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for five years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to set up with excellent automations and sharable boards
Pros and Cons
  • "The automations are fantastic for rewarding progress."
  • "Monday has allowed us to work and flow as a growing team and has provided a concrete organizational basis for how we run our day-to-day."
  • "While great, the shareable boards lack some features that normal boards possess and that’s a big burden for us."
  • "While great, the shareable boards lack some features that normal boards possess and that’s a big burden for us."

What is our primary use case?

We are a small startup media company with a lot going on. As we grew, disorganization became a serious problem. I turned to Monday, which has allowed us to work and flow as a growing team. It has also provided a concrete organizational basis for how we run our day-to-day.

How has it helped my organization?

It’s all about organization and communication. Monday has a million different features, so we can organize how we want, not how we’re told to. This has led to more creative problem solving when it comes to growth and has greatly improved client rapport and retention.

What is most valuable?

The automations are fantastic for rewarding progress. I also really enjoy the ability to tag coworkers in projects instead of emailing them or using Slack. Also, the shareable boards have been a game-changer with clients. The automations are fantastic for rewarding progress.

What needs improvement?

While great, the shareable boards lack some features that normal boards possess and that’s a big burden for us. It’s hard to not know what the client sees and that makes us look a little unorganized. They can also be a little buggy sometimes.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

What about the implementation team?

Centralizes communications, offers great visibility, and makes it easy to assign tasks
Pros and Cons
  • "I am able to add in deadlines and filter by work assigned, in progress, and completed."
  • "Monday allows clear communication by task, project, and department and makes it easy for us since we are all in different time zones."
  • "It would be nice to have a general section at the top of each group."
  • "It would be nice to have a general section at the top of each group."

What is our primary use case?

I work at a digital marketing agency. I am a media buyer, and I am constantly working with other departments on my team (graphic designers, email, project managers, dev team, account managers, etc).

Monday allows clear communication by task, project, and department and makes it easy for us since we are all in different time zones. I like Monday as it allows me to divide up my work by client. I can color coordinate each client and have all necessary work/tasks/projects under each client. I organize by month to ensure everything is done on time and can start over fresh at the beginning of each month.

How has it helped my organization?

Monday allows me to divide up my work by tasks or clients. I am able to add in deadlines and filter by work assigned, in progress, and completed.

It's very helpful as a visual tool of what my daily tasks are. It's the perfect solution for someone who is very into organization and also is a visual person, as you can color code everything, filter by the specifications you desire (due date, progress, client, etc), and you're able to "clean" the space by removing tasks that have already been completed.

What is most valuable?

My favorite feature is being able to create team tasks and assign them to the correct team member with the necessary due dates, notes, documents, etc.

Everything is held all in one place which makes communication and visibility great.

It's easy to get siloed into your own department, and when you're working remotely sometimes communication can be hard. Being able to see the progress in real-time of different projects that you are working on with team members is very helpful.

You can even add clients to the tasks so they can also keep up to date with how things are coming along.

What needs improvement?

It would be nice to have a general section at the top of each group. For instance, I have my own media buying board that is divided up into "groups" (one for each client). It would be ideal to have a place at the top of each group to write down evergreen information. For example, for me, I could include things like goals, budget, strategy, quarterly to-do's, and other things I am not necessarily checking off or marking as done weekly or monthly. This could also be helpful when onboarding new employees and getting them brought up to speedo on clients. It could also be a place where we link things like brand guidelines and other important documents from the client.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about a year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I previously used Youtrack. It was not user-friendly and not very visual.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the implementation in-house.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I did not evaluate other options first.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Cost effective with great Slack integrations and useful color coding
Pros and Cons
  • "With multiple team members working on multiple fast-moving briefs, tasks, and projects - often remotely and in different timezones - Monday.com has become our reliable source of truth to oversee and manage everything that's going on."
  • "With multiple team members working on multiple fast-moving briefs, tasks, and projects - often remotely and in different timezones - Monday.com has become our reliable source of truth to oversee and manage everything that's going on."
  • "The marketing notification emails from Monday.com are really poor and of little value to the user."
  • "The marketing notification emails from Monday.com are really poor and of little value to the user."

What is our primary use case?

We use Monday.com to efficiently manage marketing briefs, projects, teams, and marketing deadlines.

Marketing Managers will submit a brief to the platform and indicate the resourcing requirements. The brief will then be assigned to one or several members of the creative studio team who specialize in delivering work across video, design, copy, and production.

With a hybrid team that works both remotely and in the office - and sometimes in different time zones - it allows us to manage multiple projects across consumer, PR, B2B, and partner marketing.

How has it helped my organization?

With multiple team members working on multiple fast-moving briefs, tasks, and projects - often remotely and in different timezones - Monday.com has become our reliable source of truth to oversee and manage everything that's going on.

It enables us to work fast and manage internal resources and a huge volume of marketing deliverables and external deadlines more easily and efficiently. It's easy to log into the platform anywhere with an internet connection meaning it's always available to check and keep updated on what's going on and what needs to happen.

What is most valuable?

The Slack integration is fantastic for working in a fast-paced environment. It's the quickest way to read, follow and respond to project updates and prevents important updates from being missed, whereas before the Slack integration these updates could easily be missed on the Monday.com platform.

The ability to see who has viewed an update or comment on Monday.com is really helpful when it comes to trusting that work is in hand, or suggesting that something needs chasing.

Being able to use colors to separate different types of projects is also really helpful from a user-friendly/UX perspective.

What needs improvement?

The marketing notification emails from Monday.com are really poor and of little value to the user.

For example, I get an email notifying me that "a team member has started on your item" which is meaningless information to me without actually opening up the Monday.com platform, which takes time and creates a slow and clunky process.

A new feature that gives studio teams the ability to upload creative content so reviews and feedback processes could also be managed on the platform would be really helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for 2.5 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is reliable and rarely buggy.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The product has great scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I'm unsure of how technical support is.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not previously use a different solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward to get started on even with minimal training.

What about the implementation team?

I'm unsure if a third party was involved with the setup.

What was our ROI?

The ROI would be hard to measure.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is cost-effective.

Powerful with great control over permission levels and excellent visibility across shared projects
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution just makes it so much easier to keep track of where things are."
  • "When I show this to clients (and even my mother who I do business with sometimes), they are so impressed at how organized and easy it is to access information."
  • "More customizations for automation would be useful."
  • "While I love Monday, getting others in the company to adopt it can be a real challenge."

What is our primary use case?

I use Monday mostly for providing visibility on shared projects. Before, at my full-time job in event marketing and branding. This was nice to have as my work would involve many people and many moving parts.

I had project boards for each event or campaign. I had a board to represent my project for the quarter and overall status (for the big picture, for example: for the manager). Then, I had my personal board here where I'd manage all the tasks from various projects I have.

I've also used this for independent contract work to keep track of things with clients.

How has it helped my organization?

The solution just makes it so much easier to keep track of where things are. I use Monday as a source of truth and sort of a knowledge hub for everything happening around a project. It also really helps to cut back on repetitive questions. After a while, people get the hint when you direct them to the Monday board when they keep asking you the same things.

As I mentioned in the con, universal adoption in an organization is a huge challenge. That's definitely something to be aware of when signing on as a customer.

What is most valuable?

I found shared boards and their various permission levels to be super valuable. When I show this to clients (and even my mother who I do business with sometimes), they are so impressed at how organized and easy it is to access information.

I like how I can silo who sees what by board (and not automatically have to allow everyone to see everything in the workspace). Also, while the automations could use some enhancements, the ones that work really work.

Monday is such a powerful tool. I have used it to integrate survey responses into a Slack group. I have used it to track my personal accomplishments. I have used it for so many things.

What needs improvement?

More customizations for automation would be useful. Sometimes, the built-in options are limiting and do not allow for the intended workflow.

Also, I find the data input aspect tedious. If there were more automated ways of updating boards that'd make it easier to maintain. While I love Monday, getting others in the company to adopt it can be a real challenge.

Lastly, I wish there were better tools for integrating work from each project. For example, as an event planner, I may have several event boards with different collaborators. Each event has various tasks and responsibilities and deadlines that I am personally responsible for. However, there is no seamless way to integrate all of my personal responsibilities into one space where I can easily manage the tasks. I understand I can assign them to myself and work that way, however, I just find it clunky and I wish Monday could show a little more love to the personal task management/organization side vs. being mostly a collaboration tool.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are occasional outages like most tech, however, it is mainly very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable.

How are customer service and support?

It takes a while to hear back from technical support with product-related questions.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I've used Asana before as it was free, however, the company I worked for signed up for Monday, and I have been hooked since then.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was very easy since I'm a small business.

What about the implementation team?

I did the setup in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It was pretty straightforward in my case, however, I am a small business. I'm sure this is more complex for big companies.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I had already used Monday for my job, therefore, I knew I wanted it for my personal and independent work as well.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
