Allows us to containerize microservices but could be more UI-based
We used to work on monolithic architecture to develop the application until it goes to the production environment. It takes a huge amount of time. Now, we are using a microservices architecture. Rather than creating the application as a whole, we are dividing the application into small services. Each microservice is loosely coupled. With each microservice, we can develop and containerize it in the form of a Docker container. If an application has a hundred microservices, like on an e-commerce portal website, then the login is usually one application, the catalog is one application, and the E-card is one application. Each application can be considered as one service. For each microservice, we can develop a code and containerize it.

Easy to install with good support, but the deployment of applications could be simplified
We are resellers and not end-users. We sell this type of platform to our customers for data science and analytics If customers focus on primary apps or if they are using them for data science, this is a good solution. If a customer is focused on application modernization or CI/CD, there are some…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is stable."
"The most valuable feature is that it is cost-saving."
"The most valuable features of Docker are its security, detailed documentation, and ease of use, and the Docker Swarm is not as complex as Kubernetes."
"The most valuable feature of Docker is that it revolutionized virtualization by providing a new approach with containers that completely nullified the time it used to take to deploy applications on virtual servers, resulting in deployment times that can be as quick as milliseconds, unless it is a heavy application, such as Java. Additionally, resource utilization has greatly improved with Docker, allowing for more resources to be allocated to other tasks. These are a few key features that make Docker a preferred choice."
"Docker is very reliable. It's easy to scale, and it's very stable."
"Docker's containerization property is its main selling point."
"The initial setup was easy, and you are only required to run commands."
"The solution is easy to install."
"If customers focus on primary apps or if they are using them for data science, this is a good solution."

Cons

"Docker could improve by having security vulnerability reports."
"I want to see if new architectures have been incorporated in Docker or if we have to wait for another release."
"The command line interface could be more intuitive. I constantly struggle with it."
"As for improving Docker, I would like to see enhancements in its user interface and documentation to make it even more user-friendly and accessible. I believe Docker will expand its scope and reduce limitations to support more applications, both online and offline. For instance, in scenarios like deployments on ships or during upgrades, Docker can continue to offer software services and container-based intelligence."
"We have found that it is not easy to install it into a Windows system."
"The product does not have an extensive documentation. The tool does not have good scenarios. We have to go through the GitHub repository and investigate similar scenarios. Also, if you are copying multiple things, then you can jeopardize the copy number. The copying aspect also lacks a UI part. We also need to limit the memory."
"The solution’s documentation could improve a bit."
"Docker can improve the integration with Microsoft Windows. It does not support native installations."
"The modernization in Ezmeral could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing is based on the number of users."
"I use the solution's open-source version."
"The product is a free open-source tool."
"Docker's price is good."
"We use the open-source version."
"Docker is a free-to-use solution. However, Docker Enterprise is not free."
"There is a license needed to use Docker."
"Docker has made some changes and there is an enterprise version that is affordable."
