Allows for storage optimization and archiving functionality of DocAve Backup is valuable for organizations with large amounts of data
With DocAve Backup, we are using one component in DocAve, which is the storage optimization parts. It's actually an archive function. So some of our clients, they have a lot of data, like a quarter of a petabyte of data, in their 365 tenants. And that is very costly because the storage you get in…

Has a straightforward backup process
It required 2-3 people to deploy. It is deployed in a hybrid manner. It took almost 2-3 hours for the process to complete. The deployment procedure begins by accessing the Veeam Backup website to download the necessary software. Subsequently, the software is managed on the server where installation is intended. Before proceeding with installation, it's recommended to have a backup, ensuring functionality on the server. The installation process itself is distinct, not combined with the backup sector. Each step is downloadable, contributing to the installation information. The final step involves creating a backup job. Users can choose the backup type they prefer, whether it's full, implemented, or differential. Following this, the backup can be saved on desired media, such as servers.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature includes leaving the stub files behind and integrating that with the recenter feature."
"Backup and Restore for SharePoint & Microsoft Office 365 is easy to use."
"The stability has always been very good."
"The solution has good scalability."
"The solution does a good job with VM backups."
"I'm satisfied with tech support, because the solution is so stable that I haven't had the need to engage any of the engineers yet."
"Simple and stable."
"A quick-working solution that is very user friendly."
"It's fairly easy to manage and set up."
"Integration with various applications, such as on-premises laptops and desktop backups, as well as applications and databases, is excellent."
"The product’s configuration and settings are very easy."
"Instant recovery, ease of use, and integrations are some of the valuable features."

Cons

"The user experience needs a little refreshing touch."
"We need more options for the backup schedule."
"The solution's updates and rollouts of the patches cause a lot of problems."
"I think the solution itself keeps up with everything else. Sometimes it would be nice if they could move a little bit quicker and have faster updates, but in terms of the features, it's absolutely fine and adequate."
"If they could add more support for all of the modern hypervisors, that would make Veeam much better and more flexible to work with. For example, there is no solution for VM to VM replication when it comes to Oracle OEM servers."
"Veeam Backup Replication could improve by making the monitoring system free. If I would like to have any monitoring system by Veeam I have to purchase it. It should come free with the solution. They should provide a monitoring system to make the work easier and smooth."
"It would be nice to see more affordable training options for individuals who want to enhance their skills. Some people I know have been interested in training courses, but they found them too expensive."
"It's a great product, but only if you have everything virtualized."
"Near-synchronous, better RPO and RTO snapshot-based takes a lot of space and resources."
"Unfortunately, the software only runs on Windows."
"Veeam currently lacks features for backing up to network-attached storage. Veeam Backup & Replication agents do not support S3 storage. Only Veeam Backup & Replication server supports S3 storage."
"There is a lot of room for improvement, but the primary issue we have is that it's not built for the cloud."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Regarding CloudArchiver, you purchase per terabyte."
"The solution’s pricing is expensive."
"The solution could also be cheaper."
"We try to use perpetual licensing, and there are no additional costs. They have recently moved to universal licensing, which is more expensive, and I would like them to go back to host licensing."
"We have a yearly perpetual license."
"Our licensing fees are paid yearly and the cost is about $12,000 Swiss Francs ($17,400 USD)."
"It is approximately $4,000 to $5,000 for the purchase of the product and I paid an additional $2,000 for the renewal."
"We pay for a license to use this solution, and we recommend that our customers pay for a license and a renewal license."
"The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill."
"The price is a bit high. Licensing type is VMware friendly, so it is easy."
"The price of the solution could improve when comparing it to competitors. The market is very competitive and they should have some discounts or special offers."

Disaster recovery planning is something that seems challenging for all businesses. Virtualization in addition to its operational flexibility, and cost reduction benefits, has helped companies improve their DR posture. Virtualization has made it easier to move machines from production to…
