My company wants to change from the legacy system to the new system and new technology.
They also want it to be on-prem.
Our kind of enterprise is expanding and wants to change the system to adopt a workflow. They want to improve productivity.
My company wants to change from the legacy system to the new system and new technology.

They provide a full service.
My company has been using SAP ERP for ten years.
On average, the companies that use SAP ERP have around 50 users.
=> I mean that related to license, company may has over 200 or 300 employees, but company only buys 50 account for 50, 70 end-users to use system.
Technical support is fast. Whenever we have a problem, I contact levels 1 or 2 and they are timely.
SAP is more expensive than some of its competitors.
I would rate SAP ERP an 8.5 out of ten. Not a ten because the solution could be cheaper.
I'm the company manager and we are customers of SAP.
Control and governance are the best features of SAP. We have good support as well and there is a big ecosystem around SAP where we can get technical support.
SAP is always costlier than other products so I'd like to see the pricing improved for preferred customers. Integration could also be improved.
I've been using this solution for 10 years.
This solution is stable.
The solution is scalable. There are four plants in my area and about 100 people using SAP. There are many, many more users worldwide.
We are satisfied with the technical support.
We used JD Edwards before SAP and as a corporate move, all the plants went over to SAP and our department also moved eventually. The company chose a good product.
The initial setup is somewhat difficult but with the kind of support we have it's not a problem. The installation or implementation is a tough thing for SAP, there are multiple factors which have to be taken into consideration.
For larger companies, I think SAP is the best solution we have in ERP.
I would rate this solution an eight out of 10.
It meets our requirements for a product to help us integrate and track business requirements and processes. Within the nature of our business, it meets our requirements for what we need it to do.
SAP ERP has a solution for all our requirements. That is the only way I can put it because the evaluation was done by somebody else at our company many years back. What the product delivers kind of meets our requirements. That is the most valuable feature.
The biggest issue with the solution is that it could be a little more user-friendly.
We have been using SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) for at least 10 years, but actually for as many as 15 years.
SAP ERP is a stable solution. We do not have trouble with crashes, bugs, and glitches.
SAP ERP is scalable. Our current user base is maybe around 1,000 people. We should be able to increase that at will if we have the need.
I do not think that SAP ERP fits perfectly to all industries. You have got to be careful in choosing it or other solutions. SAP is mostly good for manufacturing. It is good for certain sectors of the industry and works in our case, but it is not for every type of business.
People do not have to do a lot of preparation before bringing the product onboard such as reading a lot of documentation. Mostly it is better that they see demos and project how it really works in their environment before they go for it because it is not user-friendly. If the business is within the service industry and service provision is the kind of environment they work in, I do not think I would suggest SAP ERP as a solution. If the potential client wants to use it for retail, again I would not suggest it because it is far too complicated for what they need to do and there are better solutions for that use case. It is typically good for manufacturing and those kinds of core product development industries.
On a scale from one to ten (where one is the worst and ten is the best), I would rate SAP ERP as around an eight-out-of-ten overall. For me the only thing that plays against it is that it could be more user friendly, that is the biggest issue I am looking at.
The system can be integrated with other SAP functionalities - such as finance, production, sales, marketing, HR, et cetera, and can also be customized to become a model that's specifically designed for my business. That's the solution's most valuable aspect.
The solution is quite expensive. They need to work on the pricing to make it more reasonable.
There are no extra features needed. It's quite a complete solution.
I've been using the solution for seven years now. It's been a good amount of time.
The solution offers quite good stability. The performance is reliable. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's very good.
The solution is a bit smaller than I prefer to use, however, we don't have to take too many liberties with it, so, for us, it's fine.
We have about 20 users on the product currently.
We have reached out to technical support in the past. They've been quite good and I would say that, overall, we've been satisfied with the level of support they've provided.
The initial setup was pretty straightforward. I don't believe it was complex.
The vendor handled the entire setup for our organization. We didn't actually have to worry about the implementation process.
The costs are high in terms of licensing. It will be too expensive for many companies if they are considering using this solution.
We're just customers. We don't have a business relationship with SAP.
We are using the latest version of the solution.
Although it is a good product, I'd recommend that other organizations consider an alternate solution. This is due to the fact that it's a very expensive model. For us, for the very initial stage of our business, we've spent quite a lot on it. If a company has a vision for the next five years, it could prove difficult to adhere to the solution should things unexpectedly change.
It might be better to have a basic application available on the market. The licensing costs are far too high on this one.
I'd rate the solution seven out of ten, even though the costs are so large. In this time of COVID, people really are more cost-conscious and high licensing costs are untenable for a lot of businesses.
We are using SAP ERP and the financial part and procurement part and also HR, as well.
It is a comprehensive and robust solution. It can provide lots of functional features.
It's great for enterprise-level organizations.
The user interface isn't that great. This is an area they could really improve on.
In general, a user should attend training before they can use this platform. There's definitely a learning curve. As a new user or employee, there may be some difficulty with onboarding.
The assisting module is good enough for our construction company, however, some specific areas for construction domains are not tailor-made for construction. Ssome construction operations within the solution do not fulfill our requirements. That it is an ERP struggle, and perhaps not specific to this solution. It may not have specific details for our industry. It's fair to say that the existing module, on HR and on procurement, is good enough for us.
In this company, I've been using the solution for more than ten years.
The stability of the solution is quite good actually. It's very stable. Once you have set up and configured it well, the system works very well. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's reliable.
I haven't really dealt too much with scalability. Our company has been pretty steady in terms of usage. We haven't really increased anything. IN our environment, scalability isn't so much of an issue.
That sai, it is my understanding that the solution scales well, and if a company needs to expand it, they can do so with relative ease.
I have dealt with technical support in the past. I consider them to be quite good. They are not too bad, actually. Whenever we raise a support ticket, generally we have got a response within two to three days. They are knowledgable and answer our questions.
The initial setup can be quite complex. You need to have someone who is quite knowledgeable on the solution in order to successfully implement it. SAP is quite difficult.
We're just a customer. We don't have a relationship with the organization.
If a company is considering using this solution, they need to know that training is a must for new users and employees.
I'd rate the solution at an eight out of a score of ten.
In this company, we are using only two modules, which are for purchase and sale. There is some part of the financial process involved as well. What our company has is not an enterprise version of SAP. So in my experience with the company, when I am modeling the purchase process, is not the same as using the full SAP ERP process at all. We use a process model in which we are utilizing SAP for some stages and after that, the process goes to another BPMS (Business Process Management Solution). We use Camunda BPM for additional processing.
The major problem that we have using SAP ERP in Iran is that we can not customize our complete process in compliance with regulations when using the full version and all its features. This has to do somewhat with the process we want to use. Customizing ERP SAP for what we need to do is very expensive and it is not within the budget of many companies in our country. So the company I work for is seeing SAP as one, two, or three parts of a larger process and using it where we can.
It is really the most important problem for the people in my country when they are using SAP ERP. They can not model their process exactly in the standard processes of SAP. The customization is too expensive (it is not low-code). That is the reason that SAP is not more widely used in my country. It needs to be customized (coding) or it is not going to work the way it needs to for compliance. if your company is in low level of maturity, it will be hard or even impossible that processes follow the SAP default processes.
Companies pay a lot of money for SAP ERP and large companies in Iran are paying for that and it is said that the project was a mistake due to not knowing what was needed and what SAP was providing for them. But all the people I know can not afford the cost to make it work the way it needs to.
As far as I know, not only did not it help the organization to improve its processes, but also it did not shorten the length of processes. in fact it made the processes more longer than what it was, due to the low organizational and process maturity level (processes could not be the exact ERP processes, they need to be customized).
I think that the ability to describe details of processes in ERP is significant comparing to BPMS.in SAP ERP it is the most interesting thing to me that there are many details prepared in advance which are very slight but important, although it may not be suitable for everyone who wants an ERP or BPMS that is less complex and easier to use. for example; if you want to submit a PO, the SAP have prepared all the details you need to submit in advance. All I am trying to say is that it is kind of a perfect best practice to use.
I can not completely understand or agree with this opinion, but people say that the SAP ERP's UI/UX (User Interface/User Experience) is awful. It is true that it is very complicated. When employers in a company want to use ERP, you are going to have some complexity and even conflicts. All people can not use ERP because it is complicated to use almost by nature. Because it is difficult to use, some people like our junior financial staffs will not usually be able to work with it because of the complexity.
For me, I really like the product and the possibilities because I can use it to see all of the details that I want. SAP ERP is very good for a production company that has physical products because they can use it perfectly and see all the details about the business processes that they need to know. I have not experienced other ERP solutions or other ERP software but, as far as I know, SAP ERP is very full-featured and offers good visibility into processes. This is the purpose of the product.
Although it may be good for me and other technical and advanced business users, the UI/UX could be a lot better. I think that especially in some of the financial modules, they need to have some improvements in budget control. It is an important component for planning and it is not being handled well for all users. That we can not do more with controlling budgeting with an ERP solution means that the solution has some weaknesses in it.
It is a sort of tangential problem with the product. Because of extreme changes in the dollar exchange rate, when you want to put in a PO (purchase order) the price will change as time passes. By the day you need to pay the bill, it could be more than the budget that was projected. That is an example of the reason why we can not control our budget. The dollar exchange rate is changing daily and even hourly in our country. We want to be able to control the budget in SAP, but it does not update the budget field in the form in real-time values of the exchange rates. Our company can not use this feature and we have to do the budgeting part manually.
I have more than five years of experience in this area of business process analysis, but I am fairly new with this company. I have only been with them for about six months. I am currently working with them on SAP ERP (Systems Applications and Products, Enterprise Resource Planning) for about one month.
I have only been using this product for one month, but in one month I saw some bugs. So there are areas where it needs improvement still and can continue to be better. SAP is better than other ERPs and mostly with fewer bugs, I guess. In some cases, it is better than other solutions as far as stability. I am not a software engineer and this is only from what I experience. A software engineer can tell more details about scalability.
When working with the program, it sometimes just slows down. Even in large companies that have a lot of resources, lag happens sometimes. If it takes two to five minutes to load the data, we get used to it. We can not do anything else but wait.
SAP ERP has been used in many large companies, so I guess it has a reputation for being scalable. In my company, we have about 10 to 20 people using the product. But we are a small part related to a large company . In that parent company, there are somewhere between 2,000 or 3,000 people who are using SAP.
I do not know if other ERP solutions have a heatmap to show where there is the most activity. SAP ERP does not have this feature. Camunda has a heatmap that is used with the optimize and Cockpit module. The heatmap in Camunda gives you a perfect view of your company process. The map shows exactly where the processes have some difficulties at a glance. For example, it will show where the most steps are used and where work slows down with bottlenecks. Having this information can give you insight into improving your larger view of your process and where it is working or not. You can see the whole picture in one window, and you can see all the stages of the process. You can easily define where it is most important to work on making improvements.
Because we can not do customizations of SAP easily in our company and because of its cost, I can not recommend SAP ERP to people in a similar situation because I know that it would be a failure for them. But because of the issues with expenditure and because of the dollar exchange rate problems, my advice to these people is to use some opensource solution for BPMS like Bizagi, or Camunda, or Bonita.
If the technical people in the company can support the Java behind it, Bonita is the best of these solutions as a choice for their company in my opinion.
On the scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would still rate SAP ERP as an eight-out-of-ten. It is a good rating for a good product. I think it is one of the best in the world but it does not work in our country for very many businesses. The problem that it has for people in our country does not change the fact that it is the best at what it does.
We are using this solution to help us with business processes and to run our business efficiently.
The most valuable features are that it's very customizable and it's flexible.
The initial setup could be simplified.
Technical support response time could be better.
SAP ERP needs to be more innovative when it comes to areas like mobility and the internet. They have to enable it.
I have been working with SAP ERP for approximately ten years.
It's a stable solution and we have plans to increase our usage.
SAP ERP is very scalable.
Technical support is good, but there is always room for improvement. They could be faster.
The initial setup is a bit complex.
It took approximately six months to deploy.
We had a tech agency help with deployment.
There are licensing costs.
I would recommend this solution but not on a large scale. They should start on a smaller scale.
I would rate SAP ERP an eight out of ten.
I worked with some other ERPs previously and I am a computer engineer. I find it to be very stable in comparison to other systems. There is no downtime. That's important to us due to the fact that we have companies around the world and don't have specific service hours. It needs to constantly be running, and it can do that beautifully.
The architecture of the solution overall is great. It's great for development, testing, and production. I've worked with solutions where the architecture wasn't as strong and it was a disaster.
The integration of the solution is great.
The system is very big. It is not exactly user-friendly, due to the fact that it's so massive and complex.
You need to put a lot of data into the system in order to get something out of it.
The solution is expensive.
Our company began using SAP during its first installation in Slovenia. We've used it since 1998. It's been more than 20 years at this point, so more than two decades of working with the solution.
The solution is stable. There are no concerns there. We don't have bugs or glitches. It works extremely well and it reliable.
The solution is very scalable. It's quite a sizeable product, to begin with. Users would have no problem expanding it out if they need to.
We have around 1,000 users on the solution currently.
Technical support has largely been very supportive of our company. If we need an SAP developer, we're able to get one. However, the solution has been so stable so far there have been very few problems in general, so we haven't needed much help. Overall, we are satisfied with the level of support we get.
We require 10-12 people to handle the maintenance on the solution.
The pricing of the solution could be a bit lower. It's on the more expensive side, as far as solutions go.
We're just a customer. We don't have any kind of business relationship with SAP. We aren't consultants or resellers.
We use SAP ERP, and on the other side, on the office side, and the user side, we are straight Microsoft.
I'd rate the solution eight out of ten. It's not exactly user-friendly and is quite a sizeable solution. If it weren't for that and the high price tag I might rate it a bit higher.
