Valuable for remote work security and enhances endpoint protection effectively
At my last job, we used FortiEDR to secure endpoints for 8,000 employees across MacBooks and Linux machines, ensuring the protection of backups and VPN connections. In 2020, we faced a significant challenge with remote work in Brazil, where BitLocker was utilized. FortiEDR proved invaluable as it…

Good protection with centralized visibility and nice executive dashboards
The endpoint protection is the most useful. It's powerful. I've faced issues with other products regarding ransomware; however, with Trend Micro, I have no fear of network attacks. I have experience with consistent protection. Customers have NDR and XDR protection, and it's very good for protection. There are also regulations within our country that require us to use XDR. The centralized visibility is good. It's great for the IT team as they have to export reports to management for compliance. It helps with reporting. It's essential. The centralized visibility and management across protection layers helped our efficiency. We have a limited number of security engineers. With Trend Micro and its centralized dashboard, it will show everything we've learned and reflect reporting on the dashboard and this helps when you have a limited amount of users. It simply reduces the number of people that need to be involved in the security effort. We use the executive dashboards on both sides. We can drill down on them right into XDR detection. It's essential when we have an incident. If we need to know more about the threat, we need to know where and how they are attacking. We can drill down and get forensic data. The solution's risk index feature is very good. It comes out of the box. Our customers can use it. The product has helped us decrease our time to detect and respond to threats.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"It is stable and scalable."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"It helps a lot to understand where the threat is coming from, where is it going, how is it being dealt with, et cetera."
"For our day-to-day use cases, the correlation and attribution of different alerts are valuable. It is sort of an SIEM, but it is intelligent enough to run the queries and intentionally detect and prioritize attacks for you. At the end of the day, it is different data that you see. It correlates data for you and makes it meaningful. You can see that someone got an email and clicked a link. That link downloaded, for example, malware into the memory of the machine. From there, you can see that they started moving laterally to your environment. I quite like it because it gives visibility, so Workbench is what we use every day"
"The integration is also nice because there are many external tools that we can connect to the platform, such as configuration management tools. Because the platform is integrated, I can manage almost the whole company across our global organization."
"I can prevent my environment from different types of attacks based on what I see in the Vision One console."
"For scalability, I would give a rating of ten out of ten."
"They were one of the companies, early on, that spent a lot of time integrating their toolsets, and I was really impressed with that... the endpoint management system could reach out to the Deep Discovery system on the network and pick up something that it perceived as a suspicious object."
"We are very impressed with the single pane of glass visibility that Trend Micro XDR provides."
"The solution is very easy to use."

Cons

"The support needs improvement."
"The amount of usage, the number of details we get, or the number of options that can be tweaked is limited in comparison to that with other EDR solutions"
"The solution is not user-friendly."
"The solution's installation from a central installation server could be improved because the engineers had a little bit of trouble getting it installed from a central location."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"Detections could be improved."
"It should integrate with more tools. There are a lot of tools that can do the PTP dump."
"Reporting could be a little bit better. They are working on it, and it is getting better."
"It would be better if it were more user-friendly. It would also be better if the implementation were more straightforward."
"While the continuous addition of features is commendable, the sheer volume of changes makes it difficult to stay abreast of the latest developments."
"We've received some mild complaints that the documentation is sometimes not up to date."
"We do use the automation capability a little. However, we noticed some limitations, especially on the playbook side."
"The zero trust is a bit complicated compared to other parts of the solution."
"Trend Micro doesn't have the next-generation firewall."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We got a good deal on licensing, so it is in the competitive range."
"It's moderately priced, neither cheap nor expensive."
"There are no issues with the pricing."
"I would rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"While the cost may have been high, we view it as a worthwhile investment due to Fortinet's reliability and long-term performance."
"Offered at a high price"
"The pricing is good."
"I'm not familiar with pricing, but it looks a bit costly compared to other vendors I think."
"Trend Micro XDR is reasonably priced for its value, comparable to other products like VMware Carbon Black."
"The pricing is competitive, and the cost aligns with the features we receive."
"The pricing for Trend Vision One is reasonable."
"Trend Micro's cost is higher than other solutions. That is the main reason why we need to switch to another solution."
"I do not have much visibility to it. It is definitely not a cheap product, but to my knowledge, it is out there with the big wigs in the industry, such as CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, and other EDR/XDR vendors. I had heard, and found out eventually, that their sales teams are very flexible, as more sales teams are."
"It is costly. It is not that affordable for a small organization. Only big organizations can afford it. It is a new feature that has been added, so its price is fair. Its licensing is probably subscription-based. It is for one or two years."
"Trend Micro XDR is expensive."
"It would be nice if it was a little bit cheaper, but I think it has a fair price. It is comparable to others in the market."
