We use this solution for security and supervision of our network. There are two people using PRTG Network Monitor in my company.
The solution is deployed on a private cloud with Microsoft Azure.
We use this solution for security and supervision of our network. There are two people using PRTG Network Monitor in my company.
The solution is deployed on a private cloud with Microsoft Azure.
It allows me to detect problems with the network, and it helps users propose the solution to resolve the problem.
The difference between PRTG and other products is that PRTG is integrated on Windows.
This solution is a good product so far, but I haven't been using it long enough to know how it could be improved.
I have been using this solution for two months.
It's stable.
It's not complex. We used eight people for deployment.
It's expensive to maintain. There are no costs in addition to the standard licensing fees.
I would rate this solution 8 out of 10.
I would recommend this solution for someone who wants to start using it.
We are using PRTG Network Monitor for performance monitoring. We use it to
monitor traffic and to identify network issues. In our school, the network is slow, so we use PRTG Network Monitor to capture the network and traffic status, and through it we found out that one of the servers is sending out messages.
PRTG Network Monitor is okay to use, but you need some time to analyze the data, so this could be an area for improvement.
If this solution has the feature of automatically locating or identifying the problematic area, it would be helpful to customers. This is a feature I'd like to see in the next release.
We've been using PRTG Network Monitor for many, many years.
This solution is stable.
PRTG Network Monitor is scalable.
The installation of PRTG Network Monitor was simple and straightforward. It took us two hours to complete, because we needed to locate and identify the rejected data.
We implemented this solution in-house, for a school.
We've used PRTG Network Monitor in-house before, but now we're using it for our consultation service.
The performance of this solution is okay.
We currently have 10 customers we provided PRTG Network Monitor to. We have three engineers in the network team who handle the deployment and maintenance of this solution.
I'm recommending this solution to people who want to start using it.
From what I know, people just need to go to the website and get the license for this solution.
My rating for PRTG Network Monitor is an eight out of ten.
We use PRTG network monitoring to monitor our server, especially for computing resources.
What I've found most valuable is the custom sensor, which allows you to write scripts or code to monitor a specific metric in your environment.
PRTG's application monitoring sensor is not strong and could be improved, and I've also had some issues with it crashing during upgrades. In the next release, I would like to see the ability to monitor connections between services.
I've been using this solution for more than a year.
The platform is stable - other than the issues with upgrading, we haven't encountered any problems with it.
I think the platform is relatively scalable - we added two additional probes, and everything has worked fine without any issues.
The technical support team is very responsive.
The initial setup was relatively easy.
Adding extra sensors will incur an additional cost.
I evaluated Centron, which is more flexible and customizable, but I think that PRTG is easier to administer. The initial setup with PRTG is also easier than with other solutions at the same level.
PRTG is very good for basic monitoring of computer resources and usage. However, if you have relatively complex environments, you may need a different product. I would give this solution a rating of six out of ten.
We use PRTG Network Monitor for network monitoring. We mainly monitor uptime on our switches and our network environment, and we're looking at expanding into server monitoring as well.
The Slack integration is fantastic, and I've actually found it to be very useful recently.
Integration into service management ticketing systems could be better. They should simplify the integration into big service management platforms like ServiceNow, Remedy, and Cherwell.
They're really into monitoring, but they don't do any self-resolution. It would be better if the company moved more into the AIOps space so that you could actually kick off some remedies. I know that you can execute some commands from the tool, but you need to develop those all yourself. It would be really handy if they had some auto-remedy scripts that they could develop on top.
I have been using PRTG Network Monitor for nearly ten years.
PRTG Network Monitor is very stable.
PRTG Network Monitor is very easy to scale.
The technical support was really good because I did get answers for what I was trying to do. They're very good.
When we first built it, it was very simple, but we completely rebuilt our PRTG about four years ago with the help of an external partner. It took us about one or two months to deploy this solution.
We don't perform any maintenance as such. Just every now and then, we update to the latest version to keep it fresh. We're always interested in making sure that our environment is as secure as possible. That's why we always put in the latest code.
We implemented this solution with the help of an external partner. Our experience with the external partner was good.
The price is actually on the cheaper side. If you're going with the unlimited license code, it's very cheap compared to competitors unless you're going for something free, like Zabbix. But you get what you pay for, and it doesn't have the full suite of products or tools like SolarWinds or a ScienceLogic.
If someone were looking for a basic monitoring tool for servers and networks, I would recommend PRTG Network Monitor. If they're looking at the whole stack and potentially integrating with an ITSM platform or looking at it for something like CMDB correction as well, there are other tools that I would actually recommend. I would recommend something like ScienceLogic if they were looking for full-stack integration with ITSM, CMDB, monitoring, and auto resolution.
On a scale from one to ten, I would give PRTG Network Monitor an eight.
We are using this solution for the health check of our infrastructure.
It is user-friendly. It is easy to set up health checks within PRTG and use scans. It is like a self-service tool, and anyone can configure their own settings within PRTG.
In our organization, we encounter performance issues with our PRTG probe service. I saw documentation from the vendor or Paessler mentioning that there are limitations for WMI sensors. Other than that, we are okay with PRTG.
I have been using this solution for almost two years.
It is stable.
Its scalability is fine. We have between 300 to 500 people. We have plans to increase its usage.
Their support is good. We can easily reach out to the vendor or the Paessler support team.
When I started with my company, they were already using PRTG and SCOM. PRTG is more user-friendly than SCOM. I prefer PRTG over SCOM, but it also depends on the use case.
The pricing for PRTG in our case is reasonable because we have a lot of applications to monitor within PRTG. It is not that expensive.
I would rate PRTG Network Monitor a nine out of 10.
We primarily use the solution for monitoring.
It's easy to implement and configure.
The client list capabilities are excellent. For us, the solution is a good fit.
Technical support has been very helpful so far.
The solution has been stable for the six months that we have used it.
We've found that the product is scalable.
I get messages from all the things that happened, and we are informed about issues after that fact. We need something that is more predictive. We would prefer if it wasn't a solution that was corrective and instead offered predictive insights so that we can handle problems before they even occur.
We are using EMC storage and we are finding that it is difficult to implement monitoring for it for some reason. If they could work to make that easier, that would be ideal. It should work with commonly used equipment and offer more templates.
Every time there is an update, the templates should also be updated as well.
We've been using the solution for about six months. It hasn't been too long just yet.
The stability has been great. There are no bugs or glitches. We do not find that it crashes or freeze. It's been reliable. The performance is good.
The scalability is good. If a company needs to expand it, it can.
At the moment, we use it with four technicians and we have our own domain to handle. We have a central monitoring system in our IT office.
So far, technical support has been good. We are based in the Netherlands, however, they do offer worldwide support. They are helpful, responsive, and knowledgeable. We've been very happy with the level of attention we can get.
The initial setup is very straightforward. It's pretty easy to configure. it's not overly complex or difficult.
The pricing is reasonable so far. It's proven to be a good investment for our company.
Although we aren't actively searching for other solutions, from time to time, we do check the market to see what else is available and compare it to this product.
We are a customer and an end-user.
We're working with the latest version of the solution at this time.
I'd advise new users that, although the setup and configuration are pretty easy, it's a good idea to start with training so that you get to know the product before you begin using it.
I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten We've been happy with it in general.
We primarily use the solution for applicative monitoring, or network and applicative monitoring for some customers so that they can make sure that all equipment is up, and sometimes we use it to look for some more accurate sensors.
Ergonomy is very useful to us. It was really easy to use. It's not really a feature, however, ergonomy and the way I could very simply makeup, let's say, basic monitoring, and then go much deeper when there is a need is helpful.
The alerts are very helpful to have access to.
The possibility to make maps is very valuable.
The initial setup is very simple.
So far, we've found the solution to be quite stable.
I don't really have opinions on what types of features should be added. I haven't seen anything really lacking.
The possibility to export the part of the sensor we made would be helpful. For instance, if you're doing monitoring for customers and we want to share this with them or bring them an on-premises tool as well for them, you can't export just one part. You have got to rebuild everything. Just to remake it on another premise, you've got to rebuild it from scratch.
I've been using the solution for three years at this point.
The stability is quite good. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. the performance is reliable.
There are about 20 users handling this product.
We haven't really attempted to scale it in any way. Therefore, I can't speak to how easy or difficult the solution would be to expand.
We've reached out to technical support in the past. We've been quite satisfied with the level of service we receive. We've found them to be very helpful and responsive when we have queries.
We are looking to take on other products. We are expanding, we are trying to share the two with other departments. As it often happens, the other departments say, "Well, why did you choose this and not something else?" And not
this or that?" Currently, we're looking into potential replacements.
The initial setup is very simple and straightforward. It's not a complex process. A company shouldn't have too much trouble with the implementation process.
I can't say how long the deployment took. I can't recall the exact amount of time.
For maintenance, we update the solution regularly. That's handled internally by our team.
While the setup was handled internally, for the sensors, sometimes we had to reach out to the help desk for assistance. However, we did not use an integrator or consultant for the process.
I'm not an expert on pricing, however, I would describe the pricing as pretty cheap. It's not overly expensive.
I'm paying something like €1000 per year for the maintenance. I've got unlimited sensors.
Three years ago when we took PRTG, we had a trainee make a small inquiry and we concluded that regarding the needs we have today, PRTG was the best solution. We concluded at the time that it would be much easier to use. The technical gap between PRTG and the other solutions would not be relevant to how we planned to use it.
We're just a customer and end-user. We don't have a business relationship with PRTG.
We're currently using the latest version of the solution.
Im not a network specialist, bu5 I would recommend PRTG. We've been extremely satisfied with its capabilities overall. I would rate it at a nine out of ten.
We use it specifically for our network devices and service providers. We're able to know if the connection with a certain internet service provider is still alive.
It is able to satisfy all our requirements in terms of email notifications and specific errors on the devices.
I would like to have a VM version that can be installed on a cloud such as Azure. We're using Azure, and we're eliminating on-premise servers. It would be helpful to have a PRTG version that can be installed on the Azure cloud.
I have been using this solution for five to six months.
It is stable. So far, we didn't have any problem with the product.
We're using the free version, and we can only enroll up to 100 sensors.
Currently, we have two system administrators who use this solution.
We didn't use their support. We're using the free version.
We were using SolarWinds. SolarWinds is much more expensive than PRTG.
For those who have no experience with PRTG, it would be quite complex. Luckily, we have an experienced and knowledgeable staff. Our team did not encounter any problems. The whole set up took two to four days.
We set it up ourselves. We had two system administrators for its deployment.
We are using the basic PRTG that we can download for free. For now, we only need to monitor less than 100 devices. For more than 100 devices, we would need to buy a license. PRTG is much cheaper than SolarWinds.
I would definitely recommend this solution. I have friends in other companies who are also using PRTG, and their feedback is also good.
I would rate PRTG Network Monitor an eight out of ten. We're happy with the results.
