In the case of integrating the solution with other applications, we need technical support for configuration. To make the process easier, they should add an integration API. It will help us save additional costs.

The solution's initial setup is easy. I rate its process a nine out of ten. It requires two technical support executives for maintenance.

Easy-to-use solution for chat and video conferencing, but lacks stability and scalability
Pros and Cons
  • "We like it because it makes it easy to communicate, chat, make video calls, and schedule meetings with people."
  • "There could be performance spikes and better reliability. We saw a lot of stability issues."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for many things, including chat, video conferencing, meeting rooms, and file storage. We've got lots of apps loaded in it. We're quite heavy users of it.

What is most valuable?

We like it because it makes it easy to communicate, chat, make video calls, and schedule meetings with people. It is a hell of a lot easier than the business used to be.

What needs improvement?

There could be performance spikes and better reliability. We saw a lot of stability issues.

Microsoft Teams rooms and their updates are highly unreliable. They don't release enough notes about it. They're very buggy, which we find highly frustrating.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Team for a long period.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are a lot of bugs. The app they release is often buggy and frequently experiences downtime.

We have many users on Mac, and Teams for Mac App often crashes. There are still some bugs until you raise a ticket, they fix them, and then they release an update, and it will break again. It's not reliable.

I rate the solution’s stability probably six or seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

If you want to include other people, it's so complex. Sometimes, if you want to add guests, they appear as external. You can add individuals as external or guests; they are quite different.

Additionally, the licensing process for adding people can be really complicated; it can take hours to show up. Sometimes, we create a user, and it may take 24 hours before they gain access to what they need. So, it's definitely not easy to scale.

I rate the solution’s scalability a six out of ten.

We have at least 300 people, including all of our external or guest, using the solution.

How are customer service and support?

The customer service is terrible. We've joined a group of 17 other companies with a joint ticket raised with Microsoft for issues with logging people out because of some issues. A big accounting firm was also part of the group, and big law firms were with us. Microsoft has done nothing. It's been three months, and they've not done anything.

How was the initial setup?

My initial response would be to describe the setup as highly complex.

I rate the initial setup a five out of ten, it wasn't simple, it wasn't complex. It fell somewhere in the middle, especially when compared to Zoom. We have extensively used Zoom before, and Zoom is genuinely easy to use, while Microsoft Teams is comparatively more challenging.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams’s pricing is low.

I rate the pricing four out of ten, where one is low and ten is high.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I’ve used Zoom before.

What other advice do I have?

I better recommend Zoom to other users.

Overall, I rate the solution a six out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Public Cloud

Has a team sharing feature for remote access and document collaboration during calls and meetings
Pros and Cons
  • "Team sharing is really cool. It's great to have remote access, document sharing, and collaboration during calls and meetings."
  • "In future releases, short voice messages would be useful."

What is our primary use case?

I use it for meeting prospects, current calls, and also for some apps like workflow and notes. It has been quite useful, and I find the tools and functionalities great.

What is most valuable?

Team sharing is really cool. It's great to have remote access, document sharing, and collaboration during calls and meetings. These features are excellent, and I haven't found them in other tools.

What needs improvement?

In future releases, short voice messages would be useful. Sometimes, when people are in other meetings, it would be great to leave a voice message if they're not reachable.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for the past four years. We use the latest version because it generally gets updated through backend policies.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. I would rate the stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are around 500 to 600 users in my organization using this solution.

What about the implementation team?

The setup is usually done by the IT people in the organization. As an end user, we just start using the features and the product.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My advice is that Microsoft Teams is not just a tool for meetings. It offers additional features and add-on apps like WebBooks, Azure, task planner, and more. Updates are regularly provided, and you can even use Excel tools on the go.

Overall, I would rate this solution a nine out of ten. If a tool provides everything I need without any issues, then it deserves the highest score. That's why I'm giving it a nine.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have used Google Meet, Skype (the older version), and WebEx for meetings and webinars. But Microsoft Teams is quite advanced and has a lot of features.

If I compare it with Google Meet, Google Meet doesn't offer remote sessions. That is the main disadvantage compared to Google Meet.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

  • "I use the solution to chat with my team."
  • "I would like to see more customization options in the product such as more integration with other tools."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to chat with my team.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see more customization options in the product such as more integration with other tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the solution's stability an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the product's scalability a seven out of ten. My company is a start-up and has 12 users for the product.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't contacted technical support yet.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

I would rate the solution's setup a seven out of ten and we have deployed it on the cloud.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I would rate the solution's pricing a five out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product a seven out of ten. It is a good tool and I don't have any problem with Teams.

Helps to chat and meet with internal teams
Pros and Cons
  • "I like the solution's chat and meeting feature. We have different teams and the product helps us to communicate fastly. Within five minutes all the teams can be on the same page."
  • "It would be better if Microsoft Teams can link us to the internet on the screen sharing mode during the meeting."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams as a communication tool with clients and internal teams.

How has it helped my organization?

During my early days in the IT field, Microsoft Outlook was the only form of communication available. However, the solution has benefitted us with immediate chats with colleagues. The tool makes it easy to conduct chats and meetings. Since Microsoft Teams is a Microsoft product, it is synced with Microsoft Outlook. It has made improvements in day-to-day productivity.

What is most valuable?

I like the solution's chat and meeting feature. We have different teams and the product helps us to communicate fastly. Within five minutes all the teams can be on the same page.

What needs improvement?

It would be better if Microsoft Teams can link us to the internet on the screen sharing mode during the meeting.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for the last three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the product's stability a ten out of ten since I didn't face any problems while using it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate Microsoft Teams' scalability a nine out of ten. My company has 40,000-50,000 employees globally and everyone has a Microsoft Teams account. About 60-70 percent of my company's workforce is working from home and we use the product to communicate with our team on a daily basis. We increase the tool's usage as new employees join us.

How are customer service and support?

Microsoft provides 24/7 support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool's price is high. We purchase Microsoft Office 365 on per user basis and we get support also on that basis.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. The product requires maintenance based on the user ratio. If you have the budget, then you can use the solution. If you are not capable of using Microsoft Teams, then find other alternatives which suit your organization.

A useful solution for collaboration, chats, and team meetings, but its user interface needs to be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams is much easier to collaborate, and its meetings are quite easy to explain things."
  • "The user interface is slightly weak in Microsoft Teams and could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for collaboration, chats, team meetings, and uploading documents.

What is most valuable?

Microsoft Teams is much easier to collaborate, and its meetings are quite easy to explain things.

What needs improvement?

Compared to other tools available, some features are missing in Microsoft Teams. For example, Zoom is more user-friendly than Microsoft Teams. The user interface is slightly weak in Microsoft Teams and could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for almost three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is a quite stable solution. There are occasional crashes with the solution, but it's very rare now after its latest upgrade.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Ours is a big organization with more than 20,000 users using Microsoft Teams. Our company's plan to increase the solution's usage depends on the number of new employees joining the organization.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously we used Skype. We switched to Microsoft Teams because Skype was getting outdated, and Microsoft suggested we start using Teams because it's their latest product.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is a little complex and not so straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

The solution's deployment took a couple of months. However, that was the initial version of Microsoft Teams, which had no features. Over the last two to three years, it has improved a lot, and it's much easier to use now compared to how it was about a couple of years back.

Our company has a separate team to deploy Microsoft products that takes care of the deployment and maintenance of Microsoft Teams.

What was our ROI?

We have seen a return on investment with Microsoft Teams. During COVID, we worked from home, and Microsoft Teams was the only option to meet people and work remotely.

What other advice do I have?

We are using the latest version of Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is a cloud-based solution. I would recommend this solution to other users because the product has improved over the last couple of years, and I hope more features will come soon.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a six out of ten.

The integration of apps makes the solution very slow, but it is much more stable than other solutions
Pros and Cons
  • "Microsoft Teams is much more stable than other solutions like Skype for Business."
  • "Adding and integrating more apps like SharePoint on Microsoft Teams is making the solution very slow."

What is our primary use case?

We use Microsoft Teams for team meetings, collaborations, and data management. We have a SharePoint that we manage through Microsoft Teams. Microsoft Teams is used to collaborate, talk with your colleagues and make them understand or share quick files like you do on Whatsapp.

What is most valuable?

I used Skype for Business earlier, but it was unstable because we could not share files, and it used to hang a lot. Microsoft Teams is much more stable than other solutions like Skype for Business. However, due to its application size, Microsoft Teams becomes very heavy and consumes most of the RAM and operating system. I don't use the Microsoft Teams application because it consumes a lot of power due to its big heavy size.

What needs improvement?

Microsoft Teams' application should be very lightweight. If you host a meeting on Microsoft Teams and check your system resources, you will find that the solution consumes approximately 600 to 700 MB of RAM. On the other hand, Zoom hardly uses 50 to 60 MB of RAM. The agent utilization of the resources with Microsoft Teams on the system is very high compared to other platforms giving the same feature.

Adding and integrating more apps like SharePoint on Microsoft Teams is making the solution very slow. Initially, Microsoft Teams was much faster when I worked on it as a user. However, with time, it became so slow that I couldn't use it much and decided to use it on the web. The web version of Microsoft Teams is much faster than the application, and that's the thing. There are multiple forums like SharePoint where you can integrate and store many applications, but storing on Microsoft Teams is making it very, very, very slow.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Microsoft Teams for four to five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Microsoft Teams is not at all a stable product for me. The solution works if you're not doing anything other than chatting. However, opening several tabs in Microsoft Teams and trying to search for things is really slow. I rate Microsoft Teams four or four and a half out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

In my current organization, approximately 4,000 people are using Microsoft Teams. In my previous organization, 1,80,000 people were using the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Microsoft Teams is very, very easy. The solution is available offline and online. You can install it through the Microsoft Store or download the EXE file. You need to sign in and do the installation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Microsoft Teams comes free if you're using it in an organization. If you are using the solution only for chatting or creating something on SharePoint, it's free. However, there are some services that you can integrate with Microsoft Teams at a cost.

What other advice do I have?

I use the on-cloud version of Microsoft Teams. Compared to Microsoft Teams, no other product has a similar scale that can help. People have tried using Yammer or other internal tools to enhance productivity, but there's no one in the competition currently. Even if I say that I would not suggest or recommend Microsoft Teams to other users, I don't have any alternative for them.

Overall, I rate Microsoft Teams a five out of ten.

Provides secure and robust collaborative features
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution's most valuable features are robust security and communication within teams or channels."
  • "There needs to be a robust change management platform that offers training to keep the user community aware of upcoming updates and features."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to drive productivity, communication, and collaboration.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable features are robust security and communication within teams or channels. One of the other key features is its ability to allow a seamless transition from chat to a video call. Additionally, we can record the conversation and obtain a transcript as well.

Its sharing screens and collaborative note-taking during meetings feature works best. It proved valuable for a hybrid work environment, where individuals had to work from different locations due to factors like COVID-19. It helped bring people together, ensuring productivity and engagement.

What needs improvement?

The solution constantly keeps updating. It might overwhelm end users while adapting to them. Thus, there needs to be a robust change management platform that offers training to keep the user community aware of upcoming updates and features.

How are customer service and support?

I rate the solution's technical support for enterprise business a nine out of ten. Whereas, for small or medium business levels, a six out of ten as it is challenging to get the queries resolved for them.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have used Slack before. In comparison, the solution receives updates more frequently.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is simple for an enterprise. It can be easily understood, especially when integrating with Active Directory.

The number of executives required for deployment depends on the use cases and size of the organization. It took over a year for us to fully roll out Microsoft Teams to an organization with 36,000 people.

What other advice do I have?

Planning and establishing controls to ensure proper data security in Microsoft Teams is important. I advise others to understand the necessary measures to protect their data. Also, starting gradually and only enabling some features would be better. They should focus on particular use cases, such as communication via channels, audio/video conferencing, etc.

The solution is a centerpiece of Microsoft 365. I rate it a ten out of ten based on its capabilities.
