  • Assertive monitoring
  • Customized messages

For how long have I used the solution?

More than eight years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are no scalability issues. The components scale.

How are customer service and support?

We have not had any events that the team has not resolved.

The system has good documentation and a community full of talent.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have already used Nagios, PRTG. After using Zabbix, I did not try new tools. I adapted and believe it would be difficult to convert all the rules to another system.

How was the initial setup?

It is easy to deploy. The installation process is well-documented.

What about the implementation team?

The implementation was carried out by an internal team. We acquired knowledge by reading manuals.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is worth every cent to pay or even study to do your own installation.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I had a very good references to Zabbix, but I did have a look at Pandora FMS and Nagios.

What other advice do I have?

I believe in the system's potential.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Straightforward to set up, and works well for monitoring our internal network
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup was not complex."
  • "The graphical user interface could be customized a little bit more, and also the dashboard could be more friendly."

What is our primary use case?

Primarily we are using an on-premise installation, and just now we are exploring the cloud installation. It's basically the same one. It's a pre-production and production environment. We use the on-premises for testing, and we have the one with the cloud installation also.

We are using this solution for monitoring our internal network and infrastructure in the company, and also for monitoring a couple of our customers' installations. Not only their network but also their services, and to reduce consumption.

What needs improvement?

The graphical user interface could be customized a little bit more, and also the dashboard could be more friendly.

I would like to recommend the possibility of being integrated for the monitoring of the Micro Strategy System environment and clusters of machine Micro Services.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Zabbix for perhaps six months

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's a scalable product. We have 20 users in our organization who are using it.

How are customer service and technical support?

We don't have any experience with technical support. We haven't had any reason to contact them because we have been able to address any issues on our side.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not complex. It took two hours to install.

What about the implementation team?

My colleague, along with one other internal team member deployed this solution. We did not use anyone externally.

What other advice do I have?

We have only just started using this solution a couple of months ago, but we plan to continue using it in the future.

I can recommend this product to others who are interested in using it.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Good for monitoring but complicated to configure and it needs to be more customizable
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is monitoring."
  • "Having a more customizable interface and dashboard would be an improvement."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use Zabbix for monitoring our infrastructure.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is monitoring.

What needs improvement?

Having a more customizable interface and dashboard would be an improvement.

The interface could be more user-friendly because it is can be really complicated if an end-user has to configure it. The administrator usually has to take care of that.

I would like to see more SNMP and storage support.

Application monitoring should be included in the future. I would like to see voice telephony monitoring and database monitoring.

The reporting functionality is limited.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with Zabbix for the past four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have had no problem with scalability. The only people who use it are the IT staff, which is between 10 and 12 people.

How are customer service and technical support?

As we are using the free version, we do not have a support contract.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We are using the free, open-source version.

What other advice do I have?

This is not a product that I recommend. Instead, I recommend using SolarWindows or ManageEngine for monitoring because there are more features on Zabbix with limited usability. Reports are also limited. Basically, you get more features in SolarWinds or ManageEngine.

I would rate this solution a five out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Allows us to monitor a lot of hardware equipment without any additional cost

What is our primary use case?

We use Zabbix for monitoring server network equipment. The solution is deployed on-premises.

We have 10 technical engineers using the solution.

How has it helped my organization?

Zabbix allows us to monitor a lot of hardware equipment without any additional cost.

What is most valuable?

Most of the out-of-the-box features are valuable.

What needs improvement?

It would be helpful if they translated the documentation to Cyrillic languages.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for five months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

From time to time, there are agents failing, but it's not often. I think it's stable.

The solution is being used every day because it's a monitoring system.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

For our company, it is not scalable.

How are customer service and support?

Support is given through tickets, but I'm not directly in contact with Zabbix support.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used SolarWinds.

How was the initial setup?

Setup was straightforward. Initial deployment took two or three months.

What about the implementation team?

Implementation was completed by our engineers.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay the subscription for support by year.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 8 out of 10.

I can recommend Zabbix as a monitoring system.

Has good monitoring and alerting features, and is easy to use, integrate, and set up
Pros and Cons
  • "SNMP monitoring, source discovery, and alert triggering are most valuable."
  • "The System Center Operations Manager can be improved."

What is most valuable?

SNMP monitoring, source discovery, and alert triggering are most valuable.

It is a very easy product. Its dashboards are good and interactive. There is very good information.

We are able to use the Zabbix API for integration. We could integrate System Center Operations Manager and Zabbix with APIs to create a new product or alerting system.

What needs improvement?

The System Center Operations Manager can be improved.

Cloud monitoring can be a bit easier, and the Zabbix dashboard can be developed a little bit more.

There could be integration with Ansible Tower or AWX CLI.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is very easy to scale. Many customers use Zabbix. We have one Zabbix center with 10 customers. We have a Zabbix proxy and centralized monitoring.

How are customer service and support?

We have never used their technical support.

How was the initial setup?

Its deployment is easy. Virtual appliances are very easy, and Zabbix agents are supported across different platforms, such as Linux and Windows. I would rate it five out of five in terms of the ease of the setup.

What other advice do I have?

It is a good product. It is easy to integrate and use. We are happy with it.

I would rate it a nine out of 10.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is good. However, the support could be more knowledgeable.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is straightforward and it took approximately one hour.

What about the implementation team?

We did the installation ourselves. However, I had to watch some video tutorials and view some PDF help files online to complete the installation.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a license required for this solution and we pay annually for our license.

What other advice do I have?

What is our primary use case?

We are using Zabbix just to monitor our small network out here.

What is most valuable?

Easy to manage, user-friendly, and new features added frequently
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is open-source, easy to manage, and user-friendly making it easy for anyone to use."
  • "In an upcoming release, there should be automated reports which we are currently doing manually. For example, if we collect a report file every day and want to send it to a moderator for review. We are expecting this feature to come out soon but it would be valuable to have now."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for network and application monitoring.
