We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"RPA processes are helpful when we need interaction with different applications and close the technical gaps between them. In one of the use cases that we evaluated, there was a single Excel template from a vendor. The Excel file has 7,000 objects, and it included information about the part numbers, prices, and some of the details about each object of the aircraft. This file had to be input to SAP, so a human had to enter these 7,000 objects one by one, which is a pretty mechanical and uninteresting task. The RPA bot was easily able to import this file. Without RPA, this import had to be done by a person who had to do the same task 7,000 times just to import one contract.""The most valuable feature of Blue Prism is the control and development of the processes from one location.""The solution enables process creation and is object oriented.""If there is a task that Blue Prism cannot do out of the box, Blue Prism provides me the facility of designing one and integrating it into the application. This process is called Visual Basic Objects.""I like the error handling, it's very good.""I like the cloud features such as IADA and Decipher.""Blue Prism is a mature, stable product with lots of built-in features.""Being able to create an object and use it for multiple processes has been very useful for us."

More Blue Prism Pros →

"The initial setup is very easy.""The solution is scalability.""It's user-friendly; even non-technical people can program bots using drag-and-drop functionalities.""It is easy to use. We have enabled our resources who don't have a background in automation to be certified and trained, then implement this product within a very short period of time, as it is very user-friendly.""IBM Robotic Process Automation has greatly improved the organization by improving the speed of performance, as the speed of the robot is estimated to be 20 times faster than the human being.""I like the integration with Watson and the possibility to have an intelligent reading of all the customers' documents.""The solution’s performance is good.""It's not inclusive, in terms of automation, you can just do it standalone, in its own silo. It's not going to force your existing system or teams, your admin teams, to create new IDs for you or even force them to create new services or APIs for you or expose something from there. They can just keep the way they are doing it right now, but you still automate it."

"UiPath is a no-code automation tool that saves me a lot of time when developing workflows.""Our key focus is on eliminating time-consuming tasks and enhancing reliability, especially in repetitive processes, which is where automation has proven to be a significant asset.""The Orchestrator really stands out as the most valuable feature. We don't have to train anyone. They can usually pick it up really quickly. It is easy to use and intuitive.""I like the UiPath Orchestrator. The Marketplace is also helpful because there are pre-built automations we can use.""Attended Bots have been star cases as it totally removes dependencies of user literacy to know the application.""The most valuable feature is definitely the document understanding.""UiPath is great for desktop automation because it integrates well with applications and we are able to tailor selectors to our needs.""It had pre-built integration with the scanning solution that we use called Kodak Alaris. They use our current scanners to scan in the documents, and then they have the software that allows you to load those documents right into UiPath Orchestrator. That gave us the ability to automate those processes."

Cons
"Technical support is in need of improvement.""From a monitoring perspective, the way the screens are set up, or the reporting within Blue Prism, is not really user-friendly. You need a technical person to basically put that up. It's not necessarily easily viewable.""The solution is not user-friendly. It has a very high learning curve.""Optical character recognition has room for improvement.""The control room is still the desktop version, which restricts access. You can't really access it from anywhere.""Blue Prism is lagging in terms of artificial intelligence. There is no artificial intelligence in version 4 or 5, which most people are still using as far as I'm aware. To be fair, they do have AI in version 6. Still, it's lagging terribly. Blue Prism is the inventor of the name of the term "RPA," and it's disappointing to see they are sitting around... Cognitive learning, for example, where it can actually follow your movements on the screen, is not there in Blue Prism.""They should add more OCR engines to it.""There are a lot of things coming up, such as Discovery Bot and Process Discovery. A lot of other aspects are also maturing. We have definitely started using it for our clients, and it is maturing as a solution, but it is all about how you integrate the enterprise with all the automation projects, such as your chatbot, Conversational AI, and robotics. How they are integrated and talk to each other creates a very good business case with all three aspects. The next level should be about integrating it with other automation tools as well. It can have integration with other tools or automation projects, such as your chatbot, Conversational AI, and robotics."

More Blue Prism Cons →

"Stability could be better.""I would like to have more flexibility in connecting the platform with third-party systems.""IBM’s support should improve response time.""The product must be promoted more.""Capturing GUI operations is very easy, but capturing IBM Logistics automation is hard. It does not always work with browsers or automotive applications like SAP.""One of the things I would definitely like to see is more of the machine-learning and cognitive capabilities. For example, now that we're starting to automate more and more tasks, there are some things that still require us to go back and modify the robots when we need to. But if we had more of the machine-learning integrated into it, I believe it would be easier to maintain, so that we wouldn't have to go back and adjust every time.""Needs better integration with artificial intelligence or with machine-learning.""We would like more focus on understanding AI and how it can be used to manage exception handling."

More IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA) Cons →

"On my organization laptop, while doing database activities, such as database connect activity, UiPath Studio hangs. We click on the screen, but there is no response. The only option that works at that time is to open the task manager and forcefully stop the services of UiPath. UiPath gets closed, and we again have to run UiPath Studio.""It is not very easy to build on automations. That's a problem with UiPath. I don't think it's very easy to build automation on top of it.""Ease of use could be improved. The newer features are easy to use and positive additions, but there is room for improvement, specifically of the UI console for the developer.""The tool has some bugs, and it doesn’t respond sometimes.""This is because the platform requires a multitude of building blocks even for the simplest use cases and when dealing with newer clients, this can be challenging.""There were a couple of times with the on-premises version that there were complications, since it is not on UiPath's cloud. We have had a lot of complications where we are dead in water. There were a couple of conditions where we weren't able to get someone up to speed on whatever. The support is not as quick to respond as we had hoped.""The cognitive capabilities of UiPath are pretty time-consuming. If that can be improved, it would help a lot.""I don't know if I was doing something wrong, and I did get assistance from the UiPath guys on this, but sometimes UiPath wasn't able to find an element on the screen."
