Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Valuable Features

Jaufre Rouanet - PeerSpot reviewer
Partner and CEO at JRC CORPORATE CONSULTING

The best features of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server are the integration between SharePoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and email.

The search and indexing capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server have an impact on my data retrieval processes. The interlinked search system is great; when I search from my OneDrive or my SharePoint, I get my results. I have a different point of access to the information.

The solution saves time and money for my company, approximately 15%.

From my partner perspective, the best advantages of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server are that it's easy to use, and we can easily communicate, share documents, and assign permissions to specific people. We can create multiple types of permissions according to user requirements and client requirements, and we can allow or block usage of documents and folders. We can publish our achievements on SharePoint sites and multiple projects that we have created and share with the client user and our team management, as well as with the overall management.

The search capabilities are easy to use.

Regarding integration with other tools, it is easy to integrate when we have collaboration on Office 365 with tools such as Teams and OneDrive. These integrate seamlessly with the SharePoint tools.

My favorite features in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server are primarily related to being able to edit on the browser. This capability is invaluable as I can edit on both phone and laptop. I am not confined to any specific device, which is a significant time saver, especially when traveling. The ability to work through a web browser without requiring installation on devices is particularly beneficial.

Regarding integration, most of our Copilot tools can effectively connect to the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server system. The integration process is seamless and works efficiently without any challenges.

With Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, we use all the tools integrated with Teams, which has very good tools for governance to support verifying access that is not denied for people trying to access internal financial data, allowing us to verify any unauthorized attempts. In this sense for auditing, it is very good in order to keep the governance strong.

The integration with security tools in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is one of the significant pluses since it alerts the IT team if anyone tries to redirect an email, which is illegal for us. For instance, if a person attempts to forward a corporate email to their Gmail account, the system notifies the IT people with an alert about the forbidden redirect.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is efficient and saves time because we use Active Directory integrated with various access control tools. For example, we have integrated the access system used for physical entry, such as opening doors, with Active Directory. It works effectively, although we had to purchase a tool to facilitate this integration, but overall, it functions as expected.

The Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is a main feature of Microsoft, and I use it for everything I share inside the organization and outside the organization. It's easy to use, easy to share, and easy to manage all SharePoint services.

I find the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server very beneficial for an organization because all my documentation and other data can be shared through it. I can attach it to SharePoint and easily transfer my suggestions and documentation to any other person outside the organization or inside the office organization.

Security is a very important feature of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server because when I share a document or another file, I first check if I have any policies relevant to the document, such as edit, view only, and cannot download. This feature is very good.

The most valuable feature of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server is the fact that everyone has access to it. It is similar to OneDrive, and I see them as very interchangeable.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server helps with return on investment as it saves a lot of time and helps clients improve their processes. It ties everything together efficiently. When we work on a project, we create a SharePoint for clients, and then we can put all the information there. Nothing gets lost in translation or communication. We have full control of the narrative on SharePoint. It is really beneficial to give people access to, especially when there is a lot of information to share.

I would say the collaborative part of the product is the most valuable. You can just send a link to to content to other people. You can get stuff done in one place and keep it centralized rather than attaching documents into a emails. Working this way just makes the job function a little bit easier.

There's a lot of features that are quite useful. Building Flow and Power Apps is great. Eventually, we started to use it for platforms too, however, now it's gone, it's not there anymore. SharePoint Online, both classic and modern versions, we have worked with extensively and so we know it very well.

The implementation and configuring of the resolution are very easy in the online version.

The most valuable feature is that it is very usable. I can navigate it, I can have a media call, I can have a call with my project team, so we can chat with every team kind of like WhatsApp. Any time there are projects or other things, we can chat in a secure way. It's automation-specific secure.

I like the collaboration, the ability for multiple users to work on a single document and be able to firstly collaborate and share notes about the document, as well as being able to work on the document without losing the information. Previously, there was little control over who had the latest document and this was a big challenge for us, trying to consolidate all of the aspects together. This provides a way for us to work together. It's really important, collaboration is one of the key reasons we have the software.

I like the way the solution was helpful in delivering project updates. I can incorporate my project timelines presented in web page format along with the KPIs. The documentation repository is within the same page too so you have the updates, the timeline status, and the documents which you can pull out. It means you can collaborate with others all in the one location.

The most valuable feature is the "Alert Me", which provides the ability to set an alert on a SharePoint folder or file when the content is either added or changed and that the alerts can be either real-time or aggregated for the day or the week.  One or several team members can be informed thus helping in near real-time updates to the team and actions where required.

The integration with Office 365, and the ability to edit the files using any of the products in the suite is very valuable.  Recent update to

Let me start saying that you have two way of implementing Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server, on-premises or in the cloud. If you choose the cloud, the most valuable aspect of the solution is the fact that it doesn't require coding. You just need to configure it. You don't need to code before getting something running. It makes it very fast.

The most valuable feature of this solution is the Communication Site. In the most recent version, it is much more user-friendly, and any user can maintain it, including changing the content or other small tasks. In the older version, users were dependant on the developers. This dependency can now be avoided.

You can extend the features in this solution however you want.

Document library is the most used part of the portal solution. With the optimized search service, we easily keep all company digital content on SharePoint Server.

Workflow management automation features can be implemented easily without need for software development using SharePoint Designer.

Enhanced user access management features fully integrated with Active Directory allowed us to gain the trust of the users and they use SharePoint to store and share all company digital content created by them.

The multi-language support allows collaboration using local languages in eight different countries.
