We are a hospital system provider. We use the solution in order to provide provisions to the hospital. The client didn't want to host on-premises, and therefore we are using this product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I haven't seen anything that would make me assume that solution can't scale as much as you need it to. It seems to be pretty scalable. There are no limitations.
How are customer service and support?
I've found the technical support to be pretty decent overall. You do need to give them some time, however, largely we are satisfied with their level of helpfulness.
How was the initial setup?
I am not extensively using the solution and I didn't do any work on the AWS; there's a DevOps team who will do the configuration.
That said, it's very straightforward. I didn't face any complexity in configuring AWS, for example.
What about the implementation team?
As integrators, we can implement the solution for our clients.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It would be ideal if the solution cost the customer less. It's expensive right now.
What other advice do I have?
We're integrators and service providers. We offer services to our clients.
We use a private VPN for the solution.
I'd recommend the solution to other organizations, so long as the company doesn't care about the pricing.
I would rate the solution eight out of ten, simply due to the fact that the cost is high. They lose points there.

Easy to set up, flexible, and well-priced
Pros and Cons

- "Scaling is an area that can be improved."
What is our primary use case?
I am a consultant and Amazon AWS is one of the platforms that I use.
What is most valuable?
The best features are flexibility and cost.
What needs improvement?
Scaling is an area that can be improved. For example, I would like to be able to change the amount of memory that is allocated to a server. This would give us better performance. I know that it can be done but it isn't obvious how to do it.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Amazon AWS for between two and three years.
How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support is good. We contacted them when we were working on a project and they were both knowledgeable and helpful.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is easy.
There is some design that has to be done, including security and zoning.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price for AWS is good.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
What attracted us was the on-demand pricing. It's a pay-per-use model.
It is costly, but when you use the pay-per-use model, it is cheaper.
The price could be cheaper, but it's better than what is available.

Arquiteto de Soluções at a tech services company with 201-500 employees
A complete cloud infrastructure solution with many valuable features and great scalability and stability
Pros and Cons
- "It has several valuable features, but the load balancer, auto-scaling, and RDS database are the main ones. It is a complete cloud infrastructure solution."
- "In terms of technical features, I don't see anything missing. The only two points in favor of other providers are the price and local support. The main problem that we see here in Brazil is the price. It is much more expensive than any other cloud provider. Their local support can also be better. We get more support from some of the other providers here in Brazil as compared to AWS."
What is our primary use case?
We have migrated on-premises infrastructure for a customer to the AWS cloud with different workloads, such as Windows, Linux, Oracle, and SQL Server. It is a public and hybrid cloud deployment.
What is most valuable?
It has several valuable features, but the load balancer, auto-scaling, and RDS database are the main ones. It is a complete cloud infrastructure solution.
What needs improvement?
In terms of technical features, I don't see anything missing. The only two points in favor of other providers are the price and local support.
The main problem that we see here in Brazil is the price. It is much more expensive than any other cloud provider.
Their local support can also be better. We get more support from some of the other providers here in Brazil as compared to AWS.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
It is very stable. There are no problems with its stability.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Its scalability is perfect and great. We have around 300 users.
How are customer service and technical support?
Their technical support is okay, but it can be better. This is something for which there is room for improvement. We get more support from some of the other providers as compared to AWS.
How was the initial setup?
It had medium complexity. It was not too complex, but it is never simple to migrate to the cloud. It took three months.
Several people were involved in its deployment. We had 13 people in total. There were about eight people from our side and maybe five people from the customer side.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It is much more expensive than any other cloud provider.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Amazon AWS a nine out of ten.

Vice President at a tech services company with 1-10 employees
A cloud computing platform that's easy to use, but the price could be better
Pros and Cons
- "I like that it's easy to use."
- "They could lower the cost. The setup could also be easier."
What is our primary use case?
We use AWS for product development, testing, and storage management.
How has it helped my organization?
AWS has improved our organization by driving efficiency in our product development cycles.
What is most valuable?
I like that it's easy to use.
What needs improvement?
They could lower the cost. The setup could also be easier.
For how long have I used the solution?
I've been using Amazon AWS for about five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
AWS is fairly stable. There are always some issues, but not much.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
AWS scales fine most of the time. It's just expensive.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We've used Azure, we've used Google Cloud, we've used DigitalOcean, and we used SoftLayer. We're primarily using AWS because 75% or 80% of people use AWS, and we want our product to run optimized on AWS.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is relative. It's easier than others, but it could always be easier.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
It's expensive. It costs you an arm and a leg. It's just about your expertise to do it on-prem versus in the cloud. I think it's more cost-effective to do it on-prem, but not everybody has a lab or the capital equipment budget to staff a lab. So, they are defaulting to using a service.
That's the trade-off. If you're going to scale, most of the time, people are going to build it in-house. To get development started and to get things moving quickly, the cloud providers offer a valuable service. The biggest charge is for storage, moving data back and forth, and the ingress and egress charges.
What other advice do I have?
I would tell potential users that there's a learning curve, but it definitely works.
On a scale from one to ten, I would give Amazon AWS a solid seven.

While my organization has been using the solution for years at this point, I have not been using it for the same length of time. It's been a while, however, it hasn't been that long.

We only have a few people currently using the solution in our organization. There aren't a lot of us using it.

A well-built and logical ecosystem that is robust, secure, and scalable
Pros and Cons
- "Almost everything is good. It is a whole ecosystem. It is not only the storage, computing, or networking. It is interesting in the way all things are combined to form this ecosystem. It is a very well-built and logical ecosystem that has some small building blocks. These building blocks can be used in the right way to build a much bigger ecosystem that is robust, secure, scalable."
- "Its interface could be better because there are so many services right now in the product that it is quite difficult to navigate around in this. Its interface could be a subject of improvement."
