We use Veritas to back up our database and our project's data, such as chart layouts, research and data files, to tape library or network-attached storage (NAS).

It is easy to use, and you can run it with all kinds of client software environments. It works well with the most popular software, file systems, and operating systems. It is very useful to us.

We want a solution that can be scaled-out because our data is growing very quickly, and we aren't able to back it up quickly. It takes one or two days, which is a problem. It is very slow. We just use one backup server. We want another solution with maybe a backup server cluster to back up more data in one day. We want a solution that can be scaled-out to back up our data quickly and efficiently. 

I have been using this solution for more than eight years.

It is very stable.

We just use it on one backup server. Our data is growing, and it is taking more time to back up our complete data. It is very slow. We want a solution that can be scaled-out to back up our data quickly and efficiently.

In terms of the number of users, we have 20 to 30 users of this solution.

Technical support is not convenient in China these days because of the virus. It may be because the engineers from the vendor are working from home, so we cannot get telephone support. We can only use email support, which is not efficient.

Its initial setup is not very complex. It took us one or two months to deploy it. We have a team of five IT people for deployment.

I would recommend this solution. We are a system integrator, and we have a lot of users who have been using this solution for ten years. The only problem that we are facing now is of speed. We will continue to use it, but we are also looking for a better solution to back up more quickly. Speed is our main requirement. We might continue to use Veritas if they can provide a parallel solution, a cluster solution, or a cloud solution to back up our data more quickly. Otherwise, we will switch to another vendor.

I would rate Veritas NetBackup a nine out of ten.

We primarily use this solution in order to backup virtual machines and our databases as well as the mainstream applications such as Exchange, etc.  

The most useful aspect of this solution is the MSDP, the Media Server Deduplication Pool. I like how they do the compression that they do, and how it helps move it to a safe space.

The initial setup is pretty straightforward.

The solution has been very good over the years at fine-tuning various aspects of the product so that it is continuously made better.

The user interface of the product needs to be improved. It's been the same for so many years. Likely, they haven't changed it in more than 10 years. That is definitely something that needs to be changed and updated. The interface and console both need a bit of a facelift, so to speak.

They have come out with a web application, however, the web application is not fully developed yet. 

Planning for the implementation takes a lot of time.

I've been dealing with the solution for quite a long time at this point. It's been ten years. It's at least a decade.

After ten years of using this product, I can say definitively that it is extremely stable. We don't have issues with it. It's reliable. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

I wouldn't describe the scalability as bad. I'd say it's pretty good. We haven't had issues with the appliance when it comes to scaling.

In terms of technical support, it's been so far so good. I would say the only improvement needed is the callback time. They would say they will call back in two hours, however, many times we didn't get called back in that time. That said, the technical knowledge of the support engineers is very good.

We also use Quorum. Which is a better option depends on the use case and also the company size. Usually, I would recommend Quorum for a smaller business that actually wants not only a backup but also a DR or HA solution. However, for bigger enterprises, I definitely recommend Veritas, due to the fact that for a bigger environment they will have a pre-setup DR environment and all they need is point-in-time response. On top of that, a larger organization typically has a lot of applications.

While the initial setup is not complex, and, in fact, pretty straightforward, the planning is not that easy. The planning needs a lot of time. It often takes days just for that one part.

Veritas should come up with some sort of a standardized checklist that everyone can use to simplify the implementation process.

Typically, for a deployment, you need one or two people. That's the maximum to do the deployment, in theory, however, it depends on the environment. If it's a very large or complex one, we will need more. Most of the time it's one to two persons for deployment and maintenance.

The solution is pretty expensive, which is why it's important to do proper sizing and capacity planning, so that you aren't buying more than you need.

We are resellers. We resell both Veritas and Quorum products.

In Malaysia, solutions like this are typically installed on-premises.

Overall, I would rate the solution at a seven out of ten.

Veritas is a very good solution. I'd recommend other organizations to try it, however, to always do proper capacity planning before going with Veritas, as they may not be happy with the price later if they just assume the prices. They should do a thorough assessment before purchasing NetBackup.

We are using the solution as a storage unit.

I have found it to be the simplest solution on the market. It gives us a complete end to end solution. We are using this solution, Veritas Appliance and another one for access archiving. It is convenient to have all the support from one vendor.

I have been using the solution for more than ten years.

The solution is stable.

In my experience it is scalable. We have five administrators involved in using the solution.

Support for the solution needs improvement. When we contacted support with issues, we had to be passed on to the higher level of the support team, going from level one through to three. We only managed to get a solution for our issues once we spoke to the level three support team. The lower level support is not familiar with the complexity and did not have any answers. When we frequently dealt with the support they were not able to pass us on directly to level three. This was tiresome having to deal with the lower levels not being qualified for a solution until we managed to get to level three.

I rate Veritas NetBackup an eight out of ten.

We use Veritas NetBackup for backup and archive protocols.

I like the cross-platform features. 

I think reporting can always be improved. Their pricing can also be improved.

I have been using Veritas NetBackup for about 20 years.

Veritas NetBackup is a stable solution.

Veritas NetBackup is a scalable solution.

Veritas NetBackup technical support is good and responsive.

We run into issues now and again, but essentially the initial setup is pretty straightforward.

I think we used a reseller to implement Veritas NetBackup.

We pay on an annual basis. There are some additional costs to the standard licensing fees, but they're all optional. The pricing, of course, can always be better.

For anyone thinking of using Veritas NetBackup, I'll tell them that they'll need a certain level of expertise to run the product successfully.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Veritas NetBackup an eight.

The security of the solution can be improved to include a secure backup feature with full encryption capabilities.

I have been using the solution for about one or two years.

The solution is stable.

It is important, when we chose a solution, that the customer service/technical support team could help us when we needed it, but the support was good.

I previously used Dell EMC Avamar and NetWorker.

The initial setup and deployment can be done in one day and one night.

The implementation of the solution was done in-house. The implementation involved having someone from the network team, and someone for the storage and backup.

I do not really like NetBackup as it is coming from a mix of other software packages.

We are using this solution for data protection.

The features are good.

It is not very user-friendly.

There are delays in Veritas that can be done in automation.

In the next release, I would like to see automation and better support.

I have been using Veritas NetBackup for more than seven years.

We are using the latest version.

Veritas NetBackup is stable.

It's a scalable solution that is enterprise-level software and is used for the organization. It's not user-based, it's infrastructure-based.

Technical support is not good.

They are not quick, it could be faster. You don't get any support quickly. You have to wait for 30 minutes or one hour. You will get better support if you get business-critical services, which will be provided at an additional cost.

The initial setup is simple, it doesn't take a lot of time. It's less than 30 minutes to set up if you have the cloud.

In terms of cost, it's not very good. I would rate it a five or six out of ten. They want everything to be sales and money.

I would not recommend this solution to others because of the cost, but as an option, I would say yes. Rather than NetBackup, I would go with Veeam or Commvault.

I would rate Veritas NetBackup a six out of ten.

We are a solution reseller and Veritas Netbackup is one of the products that we provide to our customers. It is used for implementing a backup repository to the cloud.

This product is flexible enough to allow for backing up data from physical machines, as well as from your cloud environment.

There is support for a lot of applications.

It would be useful if they could maintain the information that is in the cloud.

When the customer is using SaaS applications like Office 365, the integration falls short and needs to be improved.

The price could be reduced.

We have been selling Veritas NetBackup for the past 14 years.

Stability-wise NetBackup is a good solution.

This is a scalable product. NetBackup is for larger organizations.

Not being an end-user, I have not had experience with technical support.

I also have experience with Veritas Backup Exec, which has the same use case. It is also a good product but NetBackup supports more applications and it is more of an enterprise-level solution than Backup Exec. I would say that NetBackup is for larger customers, whereas Backup Exec is for everyone.

I am familiar with the installation and it is simple.

A better price would make this product more competitive.

In summary, this is a good product and I can recommend it.

I would rate this solution a ten out of ten.

Our primary use case of this solution is to back up everything including VMs, email, our databases, Oracle, SQL. I'm a network security specialist and we are customers of Veritas. 

The solution has many great features, particularly the feature they provide for deduplication. They have also recently included a new feature on the interface, where you can connect remotely and get any report, rather than having to check the solution through the server. They have different solutions for different things, so if you need to back up, for example, they have a solution for backing up on cloud or on-premise. 

The cost of the license could be improved, it's quite expensive. 

I've been using this solution for 10 years. 

The scalability of the product is very good. We have three to four admins dealing with the solution directly, but we do the backup for the whole organization.

We receive very good support through our partner. We've been with them for over 10 years. 

The initial setup was very straightforward and quick. We used a consultant for the initial implementation and for minor upgrades or minor changes, our internal team is responsible. If it's something major, our partner deals with it.  

The new updates in this solution have really made a difference and added to the value.
