The most valuable feature is the drag-and-drop functionality

What is our primary use case?

I basically use UiPath robotic process automation for everyday processes that can be done without my intervention.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath robotic process automation helps us save time and effort by doing daily tasks instead of us doing them.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of UiPath robotic process automation is the drag-and-drop functionality which helps us easily and quickly create the processes we need.

What needs improvement?

They could really improve the advanced training. It is too shallow and makes quick jumps from concepts, and you cannot really learn how to work more advancedly with it.

AI-based computer vision solves an important problem of capturing information from VDIs and images

What is our primary use case?

It was used for the automation of web-based applications in the banking sector. The challenge was to read information in image-based forms.

How has it helped my organization?

We built a use case out of the free community edition. There was a lot of support available from the community. Once we got the full-scale implementation, we were able to purchase a license.

What is most valuable?

AI-based computer vision solves an important problem of capturing information from VDIs and images.

What needs improvement?

There is a lot of scope to integrate more AI-based features that will help improve the reading of unstructured data.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

The support team is always available and quick to help, but I would like the forum to highlight resolutions to problems that really work

What is our primary use case?

We are a consulting company that develops robots for various customers using the RPA tool UiPath. Often, we install UiPath on virtual machines.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath speeds up the implementation of robots and allows integration with other external tools.

What is most valuable?

I've been working with UiPath for seven months and I think it's a good workmate. The tool is young so, sometimes, strange problems happen. However, the UiPath support team is always available and quick to help you find a solution to the problem.

I think it's a good product and it will get better and better.

What needs improvement?

I would like that in the official documentation of UiPath there were examples of the use of the various activities and that, on the forum were highlighted the resolutions to problems that really work, in order to find them more easily.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

Data scraping is more valuable as the performance and preciseness are excellent

What is our primary use case?

My primary use case is to automate the process of RPO. Here we use data scraping, web recording, email automation, integration of multiple application, etc.

How has it helped my organization?

Since we automated the RPO process, our employees' submission and closure rate have been increased. Also, the workforce of the employees has been increased. Also, we are thinking of how to utilize the employees more to increase the productivity.

What is most valuable?

Data scraping is more valuable as the performance and preciseness are excellent. Now UiPath introduces UiPath GO which has a wide number of activities, and it is really useful for us.

What needs improvement?

  • For data scraping, the websites which have iframes are not extracting properly.
  • Also, the API generation in UiPath is not that much easy. It would be nice if we have an activity which easily converts a workflow into API.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

Provides flexibility to create custom activities as per our need
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath provides scraping of both structured and unstructured data."
  • "The UiPath tool doesn’t provide an option to resize the activities as per wish, especially if the activity is a big box."

What is our primary use case?

Reading non-PO invoice details from SharePoint form, validating it, sending it for manager approval, and on receiving manager approval mail, entering the invoice details with invoice and approval attachments to SAP.

Getting forecast values of demand management processes in an Excel attachment and mail body from customers directly, analyzing it, processing it, and inserting it into the database so that the demand forecast team can get data easily without human effort.

How has it helped my organization?

Eliminated human errors: The manual actions had caused an error in the excel formula, and it was unknown to the business until the UiPath RPA tool was implemented.

Human efforts were reduced in handling non-PO invoice and data insertion to SAP.

What is most valuable?

  • Unlike other leading RPA tools, UiPath provides a great user interface so that a person with minimum technical knowledge can understand the flow.
  • UiPath provides a large number of activities which we can reuse as per our need just by changing the properties and parameters.
  • UiPath provides the flexibility to create custom activities as per our need.
  • UiPath supports integration with various OCR, cognitive services, ML and IoT related services and tools.
  • UiPath provides the flexibility to use an unattended robot without the need for Orchestrator.
  • UiPath Orchestrator component is a very powerful tool which if utilized effectively, can make the robot management and monitoring very easy.
  • UiPath Orchestrator supports using APIs, in which we can get the details from the Orchestrator database.
  • UiPath’s recording feature is very helpful to begin the automation process and provides options to choose from recorders as per our need.
  • UiPath supports version controlling feature which is very useful when the project is done by sharing tasks with multiple persons in the team.
  • UiPath provides various workflow models such as sequence, flowchart, and state machine.
  • UiPath provides an inbuilt logging facility.
  • UiPath provides scraping of both structured and unstructured data.
  • UiPath provides specific tutorial and documentation for SAP automation.
  • UiPath supports .NET, Python, and JavaScript codes.
  • UiPath provides debugging options usage, in which we can go through each activity along with the process flow, highlighting each action on the screen along with the flow, and showing the values of variables at the run time during the point execution of an activity.
  • UiPath provides the facility to use numerous .NET namespaces by importing them easily to the project.
  • UiPath provides the flexibility to create a custom activity from our custom .NET DLL.

What needs improvement?

  • UiPath’s reluctance to add the support of C#/.NET code till now.
  • The UiPath tool doesn’t provide an option to resize the activities as per wish, especially if the activity is a big box.
  • Non-availability of maximizing options in the property edit box, argument value edit box, etc.
  • No option to mark a set of activities as favorites in all projects done in a system. We have to set favorite activities separately for each project.
  • The comment option could be better. When an activity or sequence is commented on, there will be two wrapping sequences which are unnecessary.
  • Also, the display name is always the same, the display name of a commented section should be the display name of the sequence or the display name of the activity itself.

If we are thinking about customer facing processes, we have seen savings of about 25% of the workforce involved

What is our primary use case?

The thing that I find very interesting with UiPath is that no process is too simple or too complex to put UiPath on it, so it can work anywhere on any type of process. This is why we're able to put in on customer facing processes, but also back office processes, for example in voice processing.

What is most valuable?

Firstly, it showed everybody that automation is possible and that it does not require much effort. The future holds a lot of surprises when you put the right technology to the right process, then you get great results. What I can say is that we see a solid return on investment, both for us and for our customers.

What needs improvement?

We have seen issues in the past, but we've also seen the actions that it can do to correct them. For example, it's just one color change or the place of a button in an application change and so on.

I'm looking more at the potential of this product, so looking back, we had support for everything that was needed, our small issues were fixed, but now I'm looking at the roadmap that UiPath has for this product.

I can say with confidence that is a future proofing investment. I mean what other technology would come out and then bring business value.

How is customer service and technical support?

I always appreciated technical support from UiPath, because I see both business understanding and also the technical understanding so the support team was able to get the discussion with both my business team and my technical team.

How was the initial setup?

It depends on your expectation. If people have expectations that API technology is very easy to implement, it's not 100% true. It is easy to train a robot to do a specific task. But when you use more robots or you put them on complex processes, then the story's changing so you need very strong development skills and very good system architects who will understand this.

What was our ROI?

We have seen a return on investment in the longer term because we have some rather small processes. Our advantage is in terms employee experience or our colleague experience. But when you're looking at customers, we have seen numbers in hundreds of thousands of savings per year.

If we are thinking about the customer-facing processes, we have seen saving about 25% of the workforce involved in this. The main saving was in the time to respond to customer.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did this analysis about three years ago. We compared Automation Anywhere, Blue Prism and UiPath and then the decision was to move with UiPath and our first proof of concept was on UiPath.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate the product eight out of ten. I am scared not to be too subjective because I would go for a higher grade. I still see some room for improvement. I still see some need for integration with other solutions, but I would certainly recommend these to all my customers, comparing it to what the competition has.

Increased speed and accuracy for invoicing, but the accuracy depended on using native PDFs
Pros and Cons
  • "This solution has improved business by facilitating increased speed and accuracy."
  • "Templates had to be created for different formats."

What is our primary use case?

I use this solution for the automation of Accounts Payable invoices.

How has it helped my organization?

This solution has improved business by facilitating increased speed and accuracy.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of this solution is capturing information.

What needs improvement?

I have identified two issues that have to be improved:

  • It was necessary to use native PDF rather than a scanned PDF document to improve accuracy.
  • Templates had to be created for different formats.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for six months.
