Zoom Valuable Features

IM
Software Developer at KOR Financial

I value the chat feature in Zoom as much as the screen share, and whenever we have a meeting, we also have a chat, but it's nowhere near what Slack provides. Slack has way more options such as replying to a thread, but also sending that message as a last message in the chat box.

Breakout rooms in Zoom have helped facilitate more focused group discussions in my virtual meetings because you simply don't have to search for links to join other Zoom meetings. You just have one big call in the morning and afterwards, you split into the breakout rooms. Whenever I'm leaving my current breakout room, I'm returning to the main one, which is convenient because I don't have to search for any link to access it. Whenever I'm looking for someone, I can just browse to the breakout rooms and see whoever is in that room before joining. I don't have to join each and every room to find someone; I directly know where he or she is at.

This helps my focus as you have separate rooms for separate purposes, which is what my organization does. We keep specific rooms for specific purposes based on the name, such as one-on-one rooms prefixed with 'one-on-one' and pairing rooms prefixed with 'pair.' It's just a basic setup, but it's pretty handy.

Zoom has positively impacted my organization because it's essential for communication. Otherwise, we would not communicate the same way. We can see each other, we can hear each other as well. We use it daily for demos and for one-on-ones. It's a tool in our arsenal that is essential. We haven't used Microsoft Teams or Google Meet, so it's hard to compare it to anything else, but we are very happy with Zoom. We see no need to switch from Zoom yet. It fulfills all our requirements, which are pretty standard: just video and audio, and also the breakout rooms.

I haven't used breakout rooms, and I'm not aware of it, even though they have functionality where you can separate 100 people into small parties.

I am recording, and it has been great and smooth so far, and I haven't faced any problems.

I thought Zoom doesn't have the feature to save chats after meetings, while Teams allows for document sharing, which I know because in my latest company we were sharing documents through Teams; I didn't use that in Zoom.

Zoom is easy to use and easy to navigate. I find it much better than Microsoft Teams, which I previously used in another organization. Zoom is user-friendly, straightforward, and easy to connect with. Transportation costs have reduced a lot because meetings that we used to have in person are now conducted over Zoom. In a cost-benefit analysis, using Zoom instead of in-person meetings is very beneficial for us. View full review »

Zoom offers a number of interesting and valuable features. One of the most interesting is the ability to share only audio and provide ambient music without sharing a screen. The breakout room feature is much more developed than other solutions, allowing users to stay in the same meeting and move to different rooms and back to the main room. The sharing features are great for projecting people who should be in focus. Another valuable feature is the virtual entrance, which uses a username and password recognized by the Zoom system, showing the person's full name and ID. Additionally, the use of video and a good fixed background improves visibility compared to other applications. These features differentiate Zoom from others. View full review »

Zoom is free for a single user, making it accessible without needing to pay for anything. This is different from Microsoft Teams, which requires an invitation for use by non-paying members. Many times when someone asks us to have a meeting, they invite through Zoom or Meet, because it's free. I use Zoom's transcription capability because we often have meetings with people from different countries who speak in various accents. Although this transcription feature in Zoom is good, it's not as good as Microsoft Teams' transcription. View full review »

Zoom is easy to use. It has definitely been made easier to use because you can just click the link and not have to worry about having it set up previously on your computer. Zoom is very smooth whether in one-on-one meetings or group calls with more than one hundred people. The application consistently functions without glitches. Compared to Microsoft Teams, Zoom provides smoother operation. The audio on Teams sometimes fails, requiring reconnections. Zoom offers breakout rooms which are a beneficial feature. AI plugins for meeting minutes and summarization are valuable additions to Zoom's features. View full review »

Zoom is easy to set up meetings, and the features work well. The audio and video quality is pretty good, depending on the internet connection. The screen-sharing feature works effectively, and I like how if someone else from our organization joins, we don't need to admit them via the waiting room; they just join automatically. It makes it easier to work with people remotely or in a hybrid setup.

The best features of Zoom include its ease of use due to an intuitive interface, which makes it suitable for both personal and professional use. There are many valuable features. Security is one – you can lock Zoom meetings when you find that all the participants have joined so that there are no intruders.

You can put anyone in a waiting room to make sure you know who is trying to join, and then you can let them in. There's a breakout room feature, which is fantastic.

And, the common features like sharing content and stuff like that. Overall, it is a very user-friendly product.

When I had meetings, I used to take notes or record them, but then someone still had to transcribe everything. Now, I'm fascinated by OtterPilot. It automatically transcribes meetings, summarizes them, and identifies action items. I've been recommending it to everyone I know. It is a tool that you can use during Zoom or Teams calls. It takes real-time notes and then sends a summary and action items to everyone via email. It's been really helpful for about three or four years now.

The most valuable feature for me is the integration with platforms. They're all moving towards providing transcripts, but I want a summary of the key points discussed and the action items, so everyone can quickly understand and follow up on them.

The tool integrates with Microsoft Outlook, but the integration with Teams is better than with Zoom. It's functional but could be tighter.

Zoom has better connectivity and the failure ratio is less compared to Webex and GoToWebinar. The base infrastructure is robust. The latency is very good. That is why the tool is pricey. The vendor provides hosting and poll features. Zoom is a complete product. It has a good security layer. Every platform has its own security layer to ensure that the data and broadcast are restricted and relayed to only the registered participants. Anyone can easily handle the solution. It is easy to learn.

Zoom has facilitated our remote and hybrid meetings, particularly in the context of our agile processes such as scrum. In the past, estimating story points required physical presence in a room, where we would use visual cues or hand gestures. We can create polls with Zoom and share them with team members for direct input. The recording feature is also good. Additionally, features like whiteboarding allow for specific collaboration sessions tailored to different team members' needs. Auto-scheduling meetings and integration with Microsoft Outlook make organizing and attending meetings effortless. Overall, the product is good and convenient.

The screen sharing and whiteboarding features are particularly valuable. We utilize whiteboarding when someone needs to explain something remotely. It allows for the quick creation of visual aids and animated views. Additionally, the seamless recording feature is highly beneficial.

The tool's security features are good. There is no overlapping of any other calls with this call. Many security features are enabled, like for the call you are hosting. If it coincides with some other meeting, Zoom allows us to prevent other persons from joining this meeting and then deal with it. So there are specific options for that, which is quite helpful. Sometimes, we run over time, and we may not have the time to onboard new participants. The tool automatically pushes them into a separate meeting group. They understand that we are busy on a separate call and are not disturbed by the current meeting.

Zoom helps you to share your screen and allows someone to take remote control during Zoom meetings. Compared with other platforms like Teams and Webex, it's on par.

One of the key features is the transcription function. Zoom can automatically transcribe the conversation and save it once it's complete. Also, the conversation recording can be done automatically, stored, and referenced later. So if someone took a call, spoke to someone, and said, 'I told them this and this,' I, as an admin, can go in and listen to that recorded conversation, validate that point, and have a little bit of the transcript to review.

Most collaboration tools share common features. Recently, Zoom has increased the number of concurrent users for collaborative purposes. Previously, the limit was 50, but now it's 10,000. You can host multiple thousand people with a licensed or free version. This is beneficial because both teams and individuals can use the service. Zoom has aimed to cater to both corporate sectors, where licences are prevalent, and individuals who may be using the free version, such as students, faculty, or small to medium enterprises.

The video quality and stability of Zoom are good, but they depend on the communication network and backbone infrastructure. Sometimes, when we use Zoom and don't have a good backbone facility, there can be issues. Zoom provides different background screen functionalities for privacy protection. These are standard functions worldwide. You can opt for new backgrounds, customise settings, and establish privacy preferences. In terms of collaboration and reviewing, Zoom offers standard features similar to other collaboration tools.

The tool has made remote work possible for us. It's not just about the technology but also about staying connected with colleagues. When everyone works from home, using Zoom for meetings becomes very common. One great thing about the product is its ability to cancel out background noise. This helps a lot, especially when construction or other noise surrounds your home.

The Zoom recording feature is really useful. Sometimes, when you need to interview sensitive users, they might not feel comfortable if you record a video. We might have used a phone or another recorder in the past. However, it records only the audio of the meeting, not the video or screen sharing. This makes customers feel safer because they know only the audio is being recorded, which can be more effective for sensitive interviews.

I can share documents directly in the chat during meetings, which is helpful, especially when collaborating with my project team. Before, I had to download the chat manually, but now I can see all the chat directly in the Zoom application. Plus, I can automatically save the meeting chat to my computer.

Zoom's breakout rooms facilitate seamless group work, making it a versatile tool for businesses and educators.

The most valuable aspect of the solution is the controls that you have for security. They have been enhanced a lot in the recent versions. When you are the owner of the meeting, you basically have control over everything. It is really important when you are in a situation in which someone tries to enter your meeting and he doesn't belong or doesn't identify him or herself. You can just easily remove them.

Understanding the different options you have is easy. The identified users have to be allowed in with authentication. You will have people that are from the organization or from some other organization and you can ask for authentification or you can have a meeting in which anyone can join. Even so, at the moment you have the option of doing something that will give you control over the meeting. For me, that's one of the most useful things.

It's very simple to manage.

The solution is stable.

The scalability is good.

Zoom's breakout rooms are an interesting feature that is quite useful for conducting exercises during training. I don't think Teams has this. The main feature I like with Zoom is that it allows me to do remote control and get access to the system so I have remote hands that I don't have to depend on the customer or the client to do things for me. They just give me access and I would be able to do what I need to do. That's one of the good features there. It also allowed me to easily transfer files back and forth.

Zoom works fine, and its interface is easier to use than, for example, Teams, which is the other tool I would compare it to. It's also easy to schedule Zoom meetings through Outlook. It just works. It works. It's easy to use and it's easy to set up.

I like that it is easy to record.

To me, it's like using your iPhone. It's not a big deal. It's not a big deal to set up a meeting.

Screen sharing is important. Being able to pull up spreadsheets, system presentations, PowerPoints, whatever, is very helpful. The tool's pretty effective that way.

People like it to be light. They like it to be not so technical that it's hard to learn or hard to use. One of the reasons Zoom grew so fast is that kids could learn it, old people could learn it, workers could learn it. It takes a little more learning curve to have the license and host meetings. Set up meetings, to host, there's a little bit more there, however, even that's pretty simple.

It was easy to deploy Zoom and it's a product that was easily accepted throughout the company, even by our management team. Zoom is just very simple for the user and it works regardless of where you are and the device you're using. The ease of integration of the conference rooms for our leadership was probably the most valuable aspect. With WebEx or Teams where you need converters in the middle and things didn't always work, the leadership team was always complaining about those solutions.

Whiteboard is a good feature for having a meeting in which everyone can join to type or draw, and write. If we have a brainstorming-type meeting, we can share our own ideas with the whiteboard.

Breakout room helps us to set the group discussion during the training. Before this platform, we have to design the multi-network to achieve this situation.

Icon status chat helps if the participants have any questions or any comments the facilitator can see through the features. These features are important because the facilitator cannot see their face directly so we cannot see their expression and never know whether they understand what the facilitator says.
