What is our primary use case?
Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management is our main solution to manage all of our endpoints. Our help desk uses it to remote control devices. We use it to install and uninstall software and to look at the status of machines, such as whether they are running out of disk space. There are numerous uses that we give to it.
A specific example of how my team used Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management recently involves an issue where we found that a number of endpoints had malicious software installed on them. We used it to first find which machines had it and then remove that software from those endpoints. It was incredibly useful and saved us a tremendous amount of time.
Our help desk uses it to remote control devices, which helps for remote users who do not connect to our corporate network very often. However, they can still contact remote workers to ensure that everything is okay, and when they have issues, they can remote control in. This saves a lot of time and trouble for everyone involved.
How has it helped my organization?
Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management has had quite a huge impact on us. Whenever we had to do maintenance on the EPM servers, which we still have, the maintenance window had to be very tight because our help desk could not remote control machines. Having Neurons makes my life so much easier. The help desk has access all the time, and the alerts are very clear when there is going to be maintenance on the systems, but it never impacts us. The maintenance windows are always very small, which is something I do not have to worry about, and that makes my life so much easier.
An issue we had a few months ago really shows how Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management improved things for us. It saved hours and hours of work and hours of research. We were able to comply with some of the things that our department was asked us to do within hours, which I believe would have taken us days, maybe even weeks, depending on where the devices were.
What is most valuable?
The best features Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management offers include super useful reporting. I love to drill down into endpoints, but I also appreciate the overall view of my endpoints as well. We have been getting security alerts and insights into our network. It is also very useful when offboarding users, as you can use their username to see all the devices they work with. I also appreciate the simplicity of the UI; it is easy to manage and navigate around.
Reporting is something that we rely on a lot. With so many devices all over the place, we did not always feel that we had control over all of the devices, but now with this solution, we can make reports and figure out where our devices are, what they are doing, what their status is, and who is using them. Those reporting capabilities are very useful. I would also say the UI being so easy to navigate is very intuitive, so if I need to drill down suddenly into one machine or onto one user, it is super easy to do. Both of those features are something that I appreciate.
What needs improvement?
Sometimes I find that the reporting in Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management is too detailed, and I would appreciate the ability to customize my reporting a little bit more. I also wanted to mention that sometimes the remote control is a bit slow, and while I understand that we are reaching out to machines and hopping across a lot of networks, I would appreciate some improvement there.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management for probably about two years now.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management is super easy, ridiculously easy.
How are customer service and support?
Customer support for Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management is fantastic. Possibly because we have a TRM, but overall, we have had really good support when we have had to open tickets, and we have gotten pretty quick responses.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
We were using Ivanti EPM on-prem before, and we switched to Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management because this is the next generation that fits much more into our profile with remote workers. Overall, it just makes sense to move toward the cloud.
What was our ROI?
I do not have specific numbers, but I know we have saved time for our help desk support and also for myself and our team. Regarding money, I believe we will see savings down the road because we are transitioning from EPM on-prem to using Neurons fully. We are definitely saving money as we do not have to handle anything on-prem, which saves us needing to have that expertise to always maintain those machines. Although I do not have specific metrics, those are the general impressions I would mention.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing for Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management has been pretty easy and straightforward. We have excellent service from our sales rep and also have a support contract, a TRM. We love who we work with; we have been working with him for years, and together with our sales rep, it is a really winning team.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
To be honest, we did not really evaluate other options because we knew we were going to stick with Ivanti.
What other advice do I have?
On a scale of one to ten, I rate Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management a nine.
I choose a nine because of the things I have mentioned. There are still some improvements being made, almost daily. I wish I could see what features are available with new releases when they come out because sometimes I just open the UI and find a new feature I was not expecting, which is cool, but it would be nice to get a report on these updates. As the system improves, I am sure it will become a ten.
We are using Ivanti's autonomous patching feature, and it has helped with compliance. I would say that sometimes I do not understand the vulnerability level; it tells me that some CVEs are not being addressed, but I do not know how to address them since not all CVEs are addressed with patches. Some of that is a little confusing, but I still love the patching; we are still getting into it.
We have moved toward trusting Ivanti's AI capabilities from assist to advise to full automation. We still do not fully automate everything; we definitely consult AI loads. There is some automation we have built in, but we are not fully integrated. With Ivanti, we have used some of the bots that I would consider as automation, and we have created them ourselves.
We have specific scenarios where Ivanti's unified platform for IT and security operations helped streamline processes. We have some satellite offices, and we noticed that many of those machines consistently had processes stop that were needed for business purposes. We have set up bots to monitor these processes, and if any stop, they automatically restart them. This has been huge for the business; it has freed up more time for our help desk support to deal with actual real issues instead of just restarting services.
Pay attention to the changes. Continue looking out for new features, and rely on support for the help that you need because they are really easy to work with and they help you get the information you need.
One thing I mentioned about patching and CVEs and knowing what action to take for security remediation could be a little clearer. That is my last statement, but other than that, I believe I have mentioned everything else. I give Ivanti Autonomous Endpoint Management an overall rating of nine out of ten.
