The primary use case is branch network security.

The solution has helped our organization to secure a network and connect remote sites. 

The most valuable feature is the technical support by FortiGate.

There is an area of improvement in the pricing model and vulnerability management. 

In future releases, I would like to see partnering with cloud suppliers.

I would suggest not to look for a single solution for all your security requirements and compare the pricing.

It is a firewall solution, so we utilize it regarding policies and security.

The solution is user-friendly and easy to operate.

The solution should have more security features and come with VPN authentication and multi-virus authentication.

We used the previous model, FortiGate 600D. So, I worked with that. I have been using the solution for three years.  We just procured the new solution, but we need to install it right away.

The solution is stable. I would rate the stability of the solution an eight out of ten because there are some issues with security features and aspects like logs not being up to the mark, as well as some challenges with VPN and multiple functionalities.

It's a scalable solution. I would rate the scalability a nine out of ten. There are around 600 users in our organization using this solution. We have plans to increase the usage up to 2000 users. 

The customer service and support team is good. Their response time was great.

The initial setup is straightforward. It has been in use for three years. It may take around four days to make it functional.

Typically, it can be up and running in just one day. However, due to a lack of expertise, it took a bit longer.

I got a consultant to help with the deployment process. One person is enough for the solution; it can be an admin. 

I have definitely seen an ROI. 

I don't want to get the full license as the technology is changing day by day. So, I have I prefer to procure a five-year license, and that's it.

We have used Microsoft Office and Cisco Switches. We have been using the FortiGate firewall.

I advise the users to compare the solution with existing versions before using it.

Overall I would rate the solution an eight out of ten. I would like add more security features to the solution.

The maintenance requires one person.

It's a great solution for security and a big solution when you consider the functionality and skills. It also has IPS and Secure Web Gateway embedded and we can spawn a lot of solutions in the same box because we use the on-premises version.

I prefer FortiGate because it has a lot of other solutions embedded within it and is the easiest for our technicians to operate. It also has strong security factors, and it comes with SD-WAN.

The price of the solution could be cheaper. 

I have been using this solution for about six years.

I think it is easily scalable. Our company has about 100 employees and 50% of them are technicians that work with this solution.

I'm located in Brazil and we have technical support available in Portuguese, which is our native language, so I think that the support is a good service.

It was easy to set up this solution. 

FortiGuard keeps the IPS up-to-date for new threats, so my main advice is to keep your license up-to-date because if you forget to update your license, the protection will not be very effective.

My advice to others is for them to research the installation mode to see if it will be transparent or not.

FortiGate is a firewall. It protects from viruses, malware, and other threats. We deploy it along with other Fortinet solutions, including the next-generation firewall, FortiClient, and FortiProxy.

FortiGate protects and secures our clients' networks. The security is solid, and it performs well. I think they use some artificial intelligence, so I think it's excellent equipment.

The graphical interface could be improved.

We've been a Fortinet partner for 15 years, and we're the sole distributor of Fortinet and other brands in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

Setting up FortiGate is straightforward and requires two engineers.

FortiGate's price is reasonable for this type of solution. It's competitive with other products. 

I rate FortiGate IPS nine out of 10. I like it, we have experience deploying Fortinet products. We know this product well and can explain how it works. They trust in us. FortiGate is a good appliance, and I recommend it.

Fortinet FortiGate IPS is a firewall that can be deployed on-premise, as an appliance, or you can be deployed on the private cloud as a VM or public clouds such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon AWS. 

One use case is where traffic is coming in, and it is scanned because all traffic is untrusted, even within the network. You want to scan the traffic within your network. Most of the use-cases are internal networks and external networks.

The most useful features of Fortinet FortiGate IPS are you can create a virtual firewall within it, most other firewalls do not have this feature. You are able to manage your network and have network segmentation within your firewall. Additionally, you can create virtual switches within the firewall and have policy management, such as firewall and access policy.

Fortinet FortiGate IPS could improve the configuration. In some use cases, there can be some configuration conflicts.

I have found  Fortinet FortiGate IPS to be scalable.

The initial setup of Fortinet FortiGate IPS was not completely easy, it is in the medium range of difficulty.

I would rate the initial setup of Fortinet FortiGate IPS a seven out of ten.

The licensing policies need to be fixed because if our license expires for Fortinet FortiGate IPS then all the functionality and internet do not work. However, with other vendors when the license expires the internet continues to work but some functionality is limited. Once my license expired before I even knew it, I could not continue with my business functions. 

If you compare the price of Fortinet FortiGate IPS to other firewalls, Check Point is priced very high followed by Palo Alto and Sophos. Fortinet FortiGate IPS price is more reasonable.

I have evaluated other solutions, such as Check Point, Sophos, and Palo Alto.
