We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is having it in a central location, all the different groups, and being able to ad-hoc or at will log on to whichever computer system I need to get to from a central spot.""The ability to easily connect back and retrieve data from the computer systems that I have.""Technical support was able to address everything that I asked in a timely, responsible, satisfactory manner.""It's the only product I need to be able to get to my office Outlook, to get my emails off that particular computer. Going the other way, sometimes I'll go to my home computer to do adjustments to my accounting system there.""I can connect to them remotely and do all the functions I would have to do by manually driving to them, so it does make things a lot easier.""I can login to my office computer, go into all of my software, and work from a remote location.""You don't have to remember the password and the login all the time. Once you get it in there, it's in there, and you can go about your business.""User interface."

"With the product, I have never had an issue with it. I have never had to look up anything or call anyone.""The tech support person I spoke to was very knowledgeable about the product, and was straightforward with me about its capabilities. There was no fluff about the product. They basically said this is not available now and we're hoping to have it available in the third or fourth quarter. It was nice to talk to someone who was straightforward and knew about the product.""It is very straightforward to set up, use, install, and transfer sessions.""I tried different software out there and LogMeIn Rescue has the best compatibility. Something else might work, but you have conflict with so many networks. LogMeIn has the best ratio of almost 99% connection. Whereas, with some other software, you are lucky if you get 80%.""The initial setup is easy. If you want the desktop program, you just download and install it.""We are able to quickly and easily get clients connected to our triage techs which allows us to resolve issues much more quickly, and with little stress.""The multiple connect methods really help with users who are not tech savvy or knowledgeable about their own computers.""Has an easy way to remote on to a remote computer without having prior access to it."

More LogMeIn Rescue Pros →

"It is a scalable product.""I like that it helped a lot, even with low bandwidth network connectivity. For example, while I was traveling, sometimes there were requirements for me to join a TeamViewer session and provide technical support. I was able to do that without much of an issue. It is also a secure solution.""I don't know of any performance problems with TeamViewer - generally, it's a stable product.""TeamViewer has a good interface.""TeamViewer has a lot of options for deploying the Hosts, where you can mass deploy them very easily, and you can pre-configure them.""I have found the solution to be user-friendly even for beginners. It is not that sophisticated. There are different types of security features available, such as encryption and random machine ID.""From my perspective, the most important is the login.""TeamViewer is a scalable solution."

Cons
"I would enhance the product, so if I had two screens in front of me, it could connect to two computers simultaneously with the program. For example, if I had a computer at location A and a computer at location B and I am sitting at location C, it might be nice for me to be able to be connected to all three of those computers and move data between those three during one session. ""Remote Access for external and internal customers.""It would be helpful if there were more things that you could do outside of having to log into the machine, such as being able to raise a command line and reboot the computer if, for whatever reason, it doesn't want to let me in.""As far as the usability of it, I'd like to see if printing could be enabled in the basic version or the medium version. Some of the remote printing isn't available unless you go to the premium versions, and that's disappointing.""Unfortunately, LogMeIn is a long ways from being perfect. It has a lot of really great features, though they don't always work well.""The high pricing of the product is its only shortcoming that needs improvement.""At certain times of the day, during the "rush hour," it's very slow. I don't know if it's the latency of the internet or the amount of people on it in the afternoon at 4:00, 5:00pm. Getting data transferred takes a longer time than other times of the day.""Maybe they can come up with a plan if you only use it for login and, occasionally, printing. Maybe you can charge what you used to charge and then if we want to use it for files or things that are more sophisticated, charge a little more."

More LogMeIn Pro Cons →

"I would like to see a mobile client that would work on an iPad, so I do not always have to be on a PC or a full-blown Mac operating system.""it needs better iOS integration. It's still limited in its functionality when it comes to iOS. Currently, when you do something other than iOS, you're not able to take control of what's going on; instead of having to tell the user, "Click here, click there," I would like to have full control over an iOS device.""Their ability to support mobile has been really problematic. I've seen other products that have done a better job in supporting mobile products. LogMeIn has just never been able to come up to par there, and that would be a detractor. They've been talking about supporting mobile for 10-plus years, and I really haven't seen any improvement on that.""I wish this product was tied to a Help Desk package so I could manage tickets and have an infrastructure, with this being the primary tool to troubleshoot.""They need to improve their technical support.""You should be able to remote on an iPhone like you remote on an Android. It is not the same experience. Unless you are very savvy on iOS, you are pretty much lost.""I occasionally need to reboot my computer after using LogMeIn, due to an issue with IE. It stops responding to keyboard input every once in a while, after disconnecting from a session. A reboot resolves it.""The app itself requires so many different updates and it requires us to rebuild it every time, and that's been a bit of a problem, over the last five years, in keeping it up to date for our clients."

More LogMeIn Rescue Cons →

"I have noticed that when I access another person's computer, sometimes the tab is visible, and sometimes it is not, which can be difficult.""We have a consultant that helps us do the virtual aspects of TeamViewer.""Some of the additional features, like the meeting stuff, is making it too cluttered.""TeamViewer could improve by adding support for other operating systems, such as Linux and CAKE.""The business interface is clunky and not well-documented.""We'd like to be able to work from mobile to desktop and vice versa. We'd like more mobility.""I didn't like the fact that you had to install a client for remote support. If you didn't install the client, you were very limited in terms of what you could do. For a whole enterprise, it is just not an easy task to install a client on everything. Even if you're using SCCM, it is an undertaking. For transient clients that you don't necessarily support a hundred percent of the time, it would be nice to be able to connect to them and support their issues without having to install something on their machines. In my previous company, we were looking at this solution as being a collaborative tool for the enterprise in terms of video conferencing, calling, and scheduling. They were working on bringing a bunch of products together to make their suite a little more integrated, but it really wasn't at the point where we wanted it to be in terms of integration. We looked at it, reviewed it, and tested it out a bit. We then decided to go with Microsoft Teams. It has the clunkiness of having separate modules that aren't totally integrated. There are different methods for doing different things, which makes it a little bit more complicated. There should be the same way whether you are doing remote support or just calls.""I'm not sure if they provide good quality audio alongside screensharing."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It is very good."
  • "If you subscribe the package of 100 Agents, but install 5, you are still paying for the 100 agent package."
  • "Pricing has been going up for just going back and forth between two computers. Last year I called and complained, they gave me a deal. This year, it's gone up to $350. I'm looking for a new source. It seems to be getting expensive for me to look back and forth. Come up with a different level of service for just communicating with two computers; I use it, maybe, five minutes a day."
  • "Pricing is what I'm upset with. Now, that they bought everybody up, the price doubled."
  • "To be honest with you, I use it just for login and the prices are getting too high so we're going to look for an alternative solution. It used to be a couple of hundred dollars a year, now it's like $600 a year. We're definitely going to be switching shortly. Every year they have significant increases."
  • "We're paying $839 a year, so we're paying about $70 a month. We're using the smallest version of Pro."
  • "I have a tiered pricing. If I wanted to subscribe for three years, I will get a discount for that."
  • "It is pricey. When they renew me, they always boost it up, I call them and they cut it back a little bit."
  • More LogMeIn Pro Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The only downside is pricing. I think each technician license is somewhere around $100 or $120 a month now. So if you have a lot of technicians, it can get expensive, for a small business."
  • "It is on the medium to high side. For us, it is worth it. For the amount of time they save us, it pretty much pays for itself."
  • "Look at the different plans they have. Do not pay for a plan you do not need."
  • "The pricing is a little on the higher side, though."
  • "Pricing is reasonable and easily offsets other costs, while resolving issues in a much quicker timeframe."
  • "The cost of LogMeIn is high... I went with another product that was going to give me savings of 50%. One technician tested it, he gave us the thumbs up. Then once we moved all my technicians to it, but it didn’t work... Trying to move from LogMeIn hindered our performance and productivity and it was not worth the savings."
  • "It's definitely worth the value."
  • "The rescue model is licensed by user."
  • More LogMeIn Rescue Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "TeamViewer pricing is reasonable... The simultaneous controller licensing model of TeamViewer - compared to LogMeIn’s controlled Host licensing model - seems to benefit us so far. We’re currently saving about 30 percent on licensing cost... The savings from licensing have been eaten up by the soft costs involved in dealing with and working around TeamViewer’s deficiencies in allowing granular control by multiple controllers, and the issues with the various settings that are missing on the macOS Host."
  • "The cost of the licenses depends on how you buy them. They just had a buy one get one free deal going, and they do that every once in a while. Where you buy one license, and they will give you the second one free, or you can try to get discounts. Most of our licenses that we have we tried to do something like that just to save some money."
  • "It has probably saved us several thousands of dollars because we have quick access anywhere. We don't have to worry about finding people onsite or arranging conference calls. We also save time and money with it because we don't have to send somebody onsite to troubleshoot."
  • "TeamViewer offers a free version to try. Download and give it a shot. See what it's like and if you like it, then buy the license for it."
  • "...it will cost you $1,500 to $1,600 a year, but when I think of how much work I do through TeamViewer..."
  • "It does what I need it to do but I think it's expensive. It wasn't easy for me to get approval from the company to get it... It's costing us about $700 a year, per license."
  • "TeamViewer is $600 or $700 per port per year..."
  • "The cost is in the thousands of dollars per year."

    Comparison Review
    John DeMillion

What is our primary use case?

We use TeamViewer for support, controlling our ~2,500 end-user computers and our ~60 servers.  Our environment is primarily macOS, with about 95% of end-users on Macs, but our servers split between Windows and macOS.  We also have some digital signage devices that run Linux, and we use TeamViewer to control them as well. We ran TeamViewer concurrently with LogMeIn for about year as we evaluated TeamViewer as a replacement.  TeamViewer's superior remote quality (especially in low-bandwidth situations) and ease of mass deployment, combined with LogMeIn's serious and longstanding bugs led us to recently discontinue LogMeIn in favor of TeamViewer.

How has it helped my organization?

Coming from LogMeIn, TeamViewer's remote control quality, Host reliability, file-transfer capabilities and ability to support multiple simultaneous controllers on a Host have been a great improvement. TeamViewer's simultaneous-controller/tech licensing is better for us than LogMeIn's device-based licensing, because we don't have to worry as much about maintaining devices in the list as a driver of licensing costs.

    What is most valuable?

TeamViewer's cross-platform nature is important to us, as we are about 95% macOS, and our IT organization is all-Mac, so we often use our Macs to control Windows machines. TeamViewer is very fast, with very high fidelity and visual quality, in both high- and low-bandwidth situations, far better than our experience with LogMeIn.…
