Analyzing power, automation, and real-time monitoring in a single tool
Pros and Cons
  • "Celonis' best feature is a new one called Action Flow, an enhanced version of earlier automation features with lots of integration options with other systems so you can access third-party systems and automate some actions there too."
  • "The one thing that could be improved is the guides are not getting updated to cover new features and upgrades, which means we can't use them at their full potential."

What is our primary use case?

Celonis is mainly used for process mining i.e. mining and analyzing business processes to create solutions.

What is most valuable?

Celonis' best feature is a new one called Action Flow, an enhanced version of earlier automation features with lots of integration options with other systems so you can access third-party systems and automate some actions there too.

What needs improvement?

The one thing that could be improved is the guides are not getting updated to cover new features and upgrades, which means we can't use them at their full potential. In addition, the development could be done more quickly, so we don't have to search online for solutions.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Celonis for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Celonis has been quite stable since we migrated to the cloud version.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Celonis' scalability is completely customizable.

How are customer service and support?

Celonis' technical support is quite professional, and they respond to tickets raised online quite well and quickly. However, sometimes it takes time to get a response, or they just send links to documentation that we've already seen and don't solve our problem.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have also used SAP Signavio, but I found Celonis to be more mature with much more capability.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward, and a standard deployment takes around three months.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Celonis is cost-effective.

What other advice do I have?

Celonis is a very good tool that can improve your business process in a single package. It provides process analyzing power, automation, and real-time monitoring with a single license. I would give Celonis a rating of eight out of ten.

Has out-of-the-box connectors for major ERP systems and provides value faster
Pros and Cons
  • "From a features perspective, the discovery and analytics parts of Celonis have been valuable, especially the analytics and all of the out-of-the-box process connectors."
  • "For example, we would like to see improvement of the simulation capabilities to include a BPMN-compliant modeler. That is, we would like to be able to connect the simulation to the BPMN modeler. I think it's one of the features that is missing in Celonis."

What is our primary use case?

Most of our use cases are for finance and accounting because that's what we focus on. These processes include, for example, accounts payable, procurement, and order to cash.

What is most valuable?

From a features perspective, the discovery and analytics parts of Celonis have been valuable, especially the analytics and all of the out-of-the-box process connectors.

What needs improvement?

Celonis has a simulation module that can only simulate based on the data it was mining from the systems. We would like to have the option to add other activities that are not happening in the systems and be able to simulate that impact as well. In other words, we want to be able to extend the simulation module with these additional features.

For example, we would like to see improvement of the simulation capabilities to include a BPMN-compliant modeler. That is, we would like to be able to connect the simulation to the BPMN modeler. I think it's one of the features that is missing in Celonis.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been dealing with Celonis since 2020.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is on the cloud and is scalable because it doesn't depend on any infrastructure that we use.

How are customer service and support?

We have dealt with Celonis' support, and we try to leverage more of the less informal support needs through implementation teams because going through the help desk sometimes takes time. There is room for improvement with regard to response time.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward.

Typically, we have a couple of people, up to five, involved in the implementation. However, it depends on the scope and the size. If the project is small or medium, typically, up to five people are enough.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It is an expensive solution.

Our clients have annual licenses.

What other advice do I have?

If you're looking for a process mining tool that comes with a lot of out-of-the-box process connectors and out-of-the-box analysis, then Celonis is definitely a good option. Celonis allows you to deploy it and get the value faster because it already has out-of-the-box connectors for major ERP systems like SAP and others.

If you're looking for something more simple and you want to invest more time in configuration, then you should probably look for another tool.

Also, it's not an inexpensive solution, and there are other solutions on the market that probably are less pricey.

Overall, I would rate Celonis at nine on a scale from one to ten.

Good user interface and features for data extraction, data loading, and data transformation, but the stability could be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "They have in-built connectors for connecting to various systems."
  • "They should provide a community edition license so that everyone can deploy or install it on their own system and get more hands-on experience with the product."

What is our primary use case?

Celonis is used to perform process analysis and identify process gaps. It aids in determining which parts of the processes can be automated.

How has it helped my organization?

It will assist customers in identifying and the consumer can tell us what steps are involved.

We hold sessions with our clients, to better understand their processes, and based on the discussions, we try to find out what the pain points are in their processes and where they can improve.

Once we understand it, we pull the relevant data from the associated data that we talked about with them. Then we try to let the process happen. Celonis assists us in developing that process model.

It displays the flow of the processes, allowing us to examine or discover where the gaps in the processes are, as well as where the delays are occurring.

If there are any places for improvement where we can reduce manual labor we can scope automation.

This will eventually assist customers in improving their operations, reducing cycle time, life cycle time, and human labor. It also assists companies in reducing human errors that cause delays in processes, as well as delays or loopbacks in processes.

What is most valuable?

They have in-built connectors for connecting to various systems.

You can immediately pull or extract data from an SQL database, SAP database, or ServiceNow.

They provide in-built connectors, which we link to the various systems, and we can pull and extract data from those systems.

What needs improvement?

Maybe I don't have that response right now because, as I previously stated, I am still a beginner and have only been using this product for six months. I am just getting started with Celonis, I don't think I am the ideal person to comment on areas for improvement in the product itself, in Celonis.

If you compare the pricing and other features, then yes. I believe one thing I can recommend here is that they create a community atmosphere to assist new users in doing hands-on work.

They have an academic program where we can conduct hands-on, predefined databases.

They should provide a community edition license so that everyone can deploy or install it on their own system and get more hands-on experience with the product.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Celonis for six months. I have just recently begun to explore it; I'm still a beginner.

It's a cloud platform that is hosted by Celonis.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It depends on the analysis, what you conduct, and how it affects the interactions we have with subject matter experts.

I am referring to the inputs provided by subject matter experts, on which we draw our analyses.

It is the obligation of both teams, the Celonis team and the subject matter experts, to communicate the appropriate information with the Celonis team in order for them to work in the appropriate areas.

They can identify the pain points, and they can work on the analysis in the proper way, on the appropriate track.

Once the analysis is completed, it appears as a dashboard or as a suggestion to the customer, indicating which areas require attention. such as what are the areas for improvement and how they might close the gaps. Then it is up to the customer to implement the solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I don't know how I can connect scalability to Celonis. Scalability may not be related to Celonis.

I work with a team of four in our organization who use Celonis.

In Celonis, there are two types of users: data engineers and data analysts. The responsibility of data engineers is to link Celonis to the data sources, extract data, pull data from the data sources, process the data, and load data into data models.

These are the roles of data engineers, and the function of data analysts is to use the data that has been extracted or loaded, transformed, and loaded by data engineers to develop the dashboard, perform analysis, and make graphs, charts, and flow diagrams.

It is possible that we will increase our usage.

I am not aware of anything in that area, but as I mentioned, right now on the specific project that I am working on, we only have a team of four people, and I am not sure whether there are other projects going on where Celonis is being used.

How are customer service and support?

I am continually learning and exploring Celonis. So far, I have not encountered any difficulty or circumstance that required me to contact Celonis' technical support team. As a result, I have no knowledge of their technical support or responsiveness.

They have forums as well, but I have never tried to use them. I have never been in a situation where I needed to use them.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Process mining is a new area for us, therefore I'm not sure if there are any other process mining tools on the market before Celonis. I haven't tried any before Celonis. This is the first product.

How was the initial setup?

It does not require any setup. It is hosted in the cloud.

Simply purchase the license to obtain the credentials, and then log in with the admin credentials provided.

You can establish accounts for your team members so that they can log in with their own credentials; no setup on your machine is required.

Celonis can easily be maintained by one person.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not involved in the cost area. I am not aware of the license costs or expenses.

I work on the retail engineering team, where my responsibilities include connecting the systems and pooling data from the system databases into Celonis.

I don't believe there are any additional expenses. They are not required.

We use Windows 10 PCs, which don't have any special hardware requirements.

You can start using it on any browser on your Windows 10 system, although we are more likely to use Chrome.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others who are interested in using it.

They have a good UI and good features for data extraction, data load, and data transformation.

I would rate Celonis a seven out of ten.

I have not yet explored all of Celonis' features. As previously stated, I am still a beginner and am currently exploring the tool.

Can optimize high-risk finance-related processes and helps to make precise decisions but UI could be improved
Pros and Cons
  • "Celonis, especially for high-risk finance-related processes, helped us make precise decisions and uncover hidden values within our architecture. It was one of the most significant values our business identified. Additionally, it helped us during the migration process."
  • "The UI could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We optimize banking processes with Celonis.

What is most valuable?

Celonis, especially for high-risk finance-related processes, helped us make precise decisions and uncover hidden values within our architecture. It was one of the most significant values our business identified. Additionally, it helped us during the migration process.

As an evaluator, I found the user interface easy to use. However, for business-oriented individuals who may not be as familiar with such tools, their focus was more on how it facilitated the review and analysis of processes rather than the user interface itself. From my perspective, I found the UI for process monitoring, process intelligence, and other functionalities to be good.

What needs improvement?

The UI could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with the product for more than 2 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

A couple of times, I encountered hindrances, possibly due to network issues or other factors. However, overall, the tool remained stable and usable.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

The primary focus was automating some of the banking sector's processes. Finding multiple processes that could be merged or streamlined to create smoother processes helped us decide to move forward with the technology. My decision was primarily based on targeting processes for optimization.

How was the initial setup?

Implementing Celonis within our organization was one of the most straightforward processes. Even when we began introducing it to our customers, I recall it being a straightforward experience. Connecting it to our existing processes and initiating the necessary approaches was relatively simple. Business-oriented individuals were particularly eager to see the identified value and realize the benefits of using Celonis.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten. We previously had a similar product called UiPath, which could handle most of the processes we aimed to optimize. However, Celonis provided additional features that UiPath lacked. Additionally, other features are available, such as those utilizing artificial intelligence for various operations and system integration and management.

Helps in supply chain transformation and finds the bottlenecks in supply chain management
Pros and Cons
  • "We use the tool for supply chain transformation. The tool has helped us find the bottlenecks in the supply chain like where the delay occurred in delivery, payment, etc. We had to extract two years' of data from the SAP system and an internal tool. We fed the data into Celonis and it created a process map for us with hundreds of variations. It has helped us see where exactly the bottleneck was. The tool has also helped us generate a lot of reviews and KPIs. It has helped us to find the problem and the remedy through process optimization."
  • "They are killing the customers with high licensing prices. The tool’s pricing could be cheaper. Small enterprises wouldn’t be able to afford the tool."

What is our primary use case?

We use the tool for supply chain transformation. It has helped us to find the problem and the remedy through process optimization.

What needs improvement?

They are killing the customers with high licensing prices. The tool’s pricing could be cheaper. Small enterprises wouldn’t be able to afford the tool.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years. I use the tool’s latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Celonis is stable. You need to have an Extractor server on the same cloud account. There have been minor issues where the Extractor server had gone down or was not able to connect. I would call them roadblocks.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool is scalable. Our company has 30 users for the solution. You can grant access to supply chain transformation group users. Once you have got what you wanted, you can remove users. You can also onboard new users when there is a new project or program. The number of users is always under your control. The number of users is also based on licensing costs. If you need more users, then you will have to pay for a license for them.

How are customer service and support?

The tool’s tech support has been good so far.

How was the initial setup?

The solution’s setup is of medium complexity. It is a SaaS-based product. The solution’s deployment took around six to eight months to complete. The setting up of the deployment environment took about three months.

What about the implementation team?

The tool’s deployment was done by Celonis’ partner. They handled all aspects of it including the governance, operating model, etc.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution’s pricing is based on APC. It charges you based on the amount of GV that you use.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate Celonis an eight-point five out of ten for process mining. I would recommend this solution to anyone looking for process mining. The solution helps you monitor your business’ performance so that you can know the things happening with your business. It will help you to know why things are not moving, items are getting stuck, payments are not on time, etc.

An efficient process mining solution with valuable process discovery and optimization features
Pros and Cons
  • "We can use it to discover processes and mitigate the mistakes in the process."
  • "The support costs are very high."

What is our primary use case?

I use the product for technical support.

What is most valuable?

The main feature of the product is process mining. We can use it to discover processes and mitigate the mistakes in the process. It also helps in optimizing the processes.

What needs improvement?

First-time users would need help from the support team to implement the solution. The support costs are very high. We must pay a very high price if we need to involve the support team.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have one year of experience implementing the solution in the mining industry.

How are customer service and support?

We get support from the web pages dedicated to support. If we face any specific server situation we don't have any experience with, we can resolve it with the technical support team’s help.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use other enterprise solutions like Make. We use Make to integrate other solutions like Microsoft Excel and SAP.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex. We need to get trained and have some expertise in using the tools and the platform.

What about the implementation team?

We implement the solution to gather information about the service providers. We do not need to maintain the product after that.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool has different pricing plans. We use a cloud solution focused on enterprise businesses new to process mining and Celonis. If we want to scale it up in the company or another process and another business unit, the cost will be high.

Once we try to scale it up, the product becomes expensive. The pricing is not an issue in a medium and large company because it's very low. It will cost $15,000 a year when we start using the solution. However, if we want to scale these solutions, the pricing can go up to $200,000 and more.

What other advice do I have?

We do only one project or one process. I do not have experience with the tool’s scalability. We use it to mitigate the mistakes in this process. It is a very good product. Overall, I rate the product a nine out of ten.

Has good stability, but its log analysis needs improvement
Pros and Cons
  • "It performs well for connecting multiple processes."
  • "They should leverage the solution's machine learning algorithms."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to collect the logs from a particular process, inject them into the tool, and analyze them to create a flow diagram. It helps visualize the entire process flow.

What is most valuable?

The solution works excellently for large-scale implementations of the applications. It performs well for connecting multiple processes.

What needs improvement?

We encounter challenges while analyzing logs. They should leverage the solution's machine learning algorithms for better log analysis.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a highly stable solution. I rate its stability an eight.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We can use the solution in multiple ways in terms of processes. I rate its scalability a seven.

How are customer service and support?

The solution's community and technical support team are good. Although, the response time depends on the subscription.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup has medium complexity. We need to check whether the services are running in a particular order. I rate the process a seven. It takes a few hours to complete.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is expensive. I rate its pricing a six.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We have evaluated a few solutions for their licensing models.

What other advice do I have?

I advise others to opt for the solution if they want a process mining product. I rate it a six out of ten.

Excellent customer support and unique features helped us list purchases and find materials
Pros and Cons
  • "Celonis’ Process Cockpit is valuable."
  • "The price is high for us."

What is our primary use case?

I use the full process to list purchases for materials, as well as accounts receivable and accounts payable.

How has it helped my organization?

Celonis helped me with its credit management app and credit customers. The solution lists customers over order, and helps us find customers over credit. The solution also helps with price analytics and to find any material from one vendor.

Colleagues don’t use clear invoices in SAP, so we use all of them in Excel files and import them in SAP, but Celonis helped us to improve this process. After using Celonis, they should record a clear invoice for each financial document, And after that, I can monitor customer behavior.

What is most valuable?

Celonis’ Process Cockpit is valuable.

What needs improvement?

I prefer to see S/4HANA in the marketplace. With Celonis it’s a CU app for HANA, but it's for ECC for all of them. Using the other apps and connections is limited for us. For example, we need inventory management, and we use the S/4HANA, but we don’t have any application and connection for this process in the marketplace. This is a gap for my business.

For how long have I used the solution?

I’ve worked with Celonis for about one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We had a bad connection with SAP for two or three days. After we upgraded to SAP 2022, we have probably had a problem connecting Celonis and SAP. And now the stability is not good. We consulted technical support about this problem and I’m waiting for answers. I rate Celonis’ stability a six or seven out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

My company has 36 users on Celonis.

How are customer service and support?

I’ve contacted Celonis’ customer support once and it was a good experience.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I rate the initial setup for Celonis an eight out of ten because it is easy. Also, everyone monitors updates. Celonis had an update for connection, extraction and data models, Celonis became much easier to use.

We need one day to install the connection and extract and one day to install any apps. We need six people to deploy the solution, with two analysts, two admins, two people from the IT team and two people working with the network.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price is high for us. I rate the pricing a ten out of ten.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I’ve tested Process Diamond and a local software in my country.

What other advice do I have?

When I see another person who works in a similar company, I recommend Celonis. But the price is too high for our country and is a problem for us. I rate Celonis an eight out of ten.
