A stable solution which is easy to install, but could be more secure, scalable and dynamic
Pros and Cons
  • "The installation was very easy."
  • "The solution could be more secure and scalable."

What is our primary use case?

I believe we are using the latest version.

The solution deals with signature-based antiviruses.

What needs improvement?

We are not very happy with the solution and are in the process of moving away from it.

Owing to its limitations, we are currently moving towards EDR products, which we find to be more dynamic.

The solution could be more secure and scalable.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Symantec End-User Endpoint Security for two or three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. As a product, it does what it should, but no more. It will fail to detect a new kind of malware that lacks a signature.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution could be more scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I cannot comment on the technical support as I do not deal with them directly.

How was the initial setup?

The installation was very easy.

I do not recall exactly how long it took.

What about the implementation team?

We have a team of around five people, all engineers, who are responsible for deployment and maintenance.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

There is a yearly license.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I believe there were other products we evaluated before going with the solution.

What other advice do I have?

There are around 5,000 users in our organization who are making use of the solution.

This solution is only recommended in the initial phases for an organization which is just starting out. But, considering the current threat landscape, I do not recommend signature-based antivirus for any organization.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Fast, easy to set up, and scalable
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup is very simple and straightforward."
  • "They need to develop a multi-language interface."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution as active protection for our endpoints. We also use it for its upgrade frequency.

What is most valuable?

The solution runs very quickly.

The solution is stable.

It's quite a scalable product.

The initial setup is very simple and straightforward.

What needs improvement?

The localization could be better. It could be more friendly for local users.

It's a solution that's only in English. It makes it difficult if you, for example, speak a different language. If that's the case, and you don't understand English well, you might struggle to understand aspects of the product. They need to develop a multi-language interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been dealing with the solution for about five years at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. The performance is reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We've found the scalability to be good. If we need to expand it, we can do so.

We have one customer who currently uses the product.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not difficult or complex. It's quite straightforward and fairly simple to implement.

I cannot recall, however, exactly how long the deployment process took.

You only need one engineer to handle the deployment and maintenance aspects. You do not need a large team.

What about the implementation team?

We are integrators. We are able to handle implementations for our clients.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I cannot speak to the exact licensing costs. We recommend the solution to our clients, however, they buy the license from the vendor directly.

What other advice do I have?

We are Symantec integrators.

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten. So far, we've been pleased with its capabilities for the most part.

I'd recommend the solution to other users and companies. We already recommend it to our clients.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Priced high, better email integrations needed, but has functional central control console
Pros and Cons
  • "I have found the central control console the most valuable feature."
  • "There is room for improvement in the zero-day threat detection system."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use of this solution is for security.

What is most valuable?

I have found the central control console the most valuable feature.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement in the zero-day threat detection system.

In the next release of this solution, the email integration could improve.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for approximately five years.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

When comparing this solution to others in the current market it is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Symantec End-User Endpoint Security a four out of ten.

Best support, easy to deploy and update, but needs more advanced features and more integration with other vendors
Pros and Cons
  • "Its ease of use in deploying it and regular updates are most valuable."
  • "It can be improved in terms of features and integration. It should have more advanced features and more integration. Currently, it is just talking to their own solutions. They could add more artificial intelligence, more XDR, and more integration with other vendors so that we can do sharing of information with other vendors."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for endpoint security.

How has it helped my organization?

We no longer have to deal with day-to-day threats, and we can focus more on work. Whenever there are some problems, our operations don't stop. So, we can continue our work knowing that there is a good security solution protecting us.

What is most valuable?

Its ease of use in deploying it and regular updates are most valuable.

What needs improvement?

It can be improved in terms of features and integration. It should have more advanced features and more integration. Currently, it is just talking to their own solutions. They could add more artificial intelligence, more XDR, and more integration with other vendors so that we can do sharing of information with other vendors.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for more than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is not stable in terms of the company. They have already been bought many times. A lot of people are changing brands because of the acquisition of Broadcom. So, it is not much stable.

How are customer service and technical support?

They are the best. There is no problem in regards to response time. You can easily get technical support.

How was the initial setup?

Its initial setup was straightforward.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

They're on the reasonable side. They are at mid-level. They're not too expensive as compared to their competitors. They're also not too cheap. In terms of price structure, hopefully, they could do a subscription.

What other advice do I have?

If you are looking for regular endpoint security, you can count on Symantec, but if you're looking for more advanced security or have advanced requirements, or if you have a big company that has different security products in place, you might as well look for another one. I could suggest Symantec if your security appetite is not that big.

I would rate Symantec End-User Endpoint Security a seven out of ten.

Blocks computer viruses
Pros and Cons
  • "The product blocks computer viruses."
  • "Future releases should ideally be cheaper."

What is our primary use case?

I have the program installed on my desktop. A primary use case involves the prevention of outside intrusions, so that no viruses may enter.

What needs improvement?

I would like things to be cheaper in the next release, although I cannot say which specific function I am referencing.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for around four years.

How are customer service and technical support?

I cannot comment properly on customer service/technical support since this is an area handled by the IT team. Having said this, as it is on cloud it should not be too time consuming and should be easy to deploy.

How was the initial setup?

As for the initial setup, it was my IT team that handled the installation and this can be done directly from the cloud. Everything is on the cloud nowadays and this precludes the need to make purchases. An advantage to cloud installation over that done on premises is that all the updates and security patches and EMP to the particular antivirus may be handled from the cloud itself.

What other advice do I have?

I will continue to use this product and definitely recommend it to other users.

Provides great security and is very user friendly
Pros and Cons
  • "Great security and very user friendly."
  • "Difficult to set up on older systems."

What is our primary use case?

This product is an antivirus system and a firewall system for our companyh. We are customers of Symantec.

What is most valuable?

The product provides great security and is very user friendly. I'm happy with the dashboards and interface.

What needs improvement?

We have issues when we install in older systems, such as Windows 7, it's difficult to carry out the set up on these systems.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using this solution for nearly three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We only have around 30 users so scalability is not an issue.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We had some issues with licensing registration on the company website. We pay on an annual basis and it's a fair price.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this product an eight out of 10.

Reliable with good ransomware and general malware protection
Pros and Cons
  • "This product is valuable for ransomware protection, general malware protection, and network exploitation protection."
  • "Since the acquisition by Broadcom, we are no longer receiving the proper support."

What is our primary use case?

We used this product to protect our endpoints.

What is most valuable?

This product is valuable for ransomware protection, general malware protection, and network exploitation protection.

What needs improvement?

Since the acquisition by Broadcom, we are no longer receiving the proper support. Otherwise, we had no specific point points while using this solution.

This product would be improved with the inclusion of EDR functionality.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Symantec End-user Endpoint Security for the past 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a reliable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have scaled without issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

Prior to the acquisition by Broadcom, we were receiving proper technical support. Right now, we are not getting any support from them, and we are changing products as a result.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. It takes a medium-level of time to implement.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing is based on a yearly subscription.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We are currently evaluating other products because we are migrating, now that we are no longer receiving the proper technical support.

What other advice do I have?

This is a product that I would recommend, but only in the case that the support improves. I have spoken with friends of mine who are in the same position and not getting the proper support.

In summary, this is a good product and the only major challenge is that we are no longer getting the proper support.

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

A security software suite that identifies and blocks malicious traffic in a corporate network
Pros and Cons
  • "Symantec End-user Endpoint Security is a very powerful solution."
  • "It could use more feature parity between what is offered with their on-prem console as well as their hosted console."

What is our primary use case?

Within our organization, there are just shy of 250 employees using this solution. We have one administrator who takes care of all maintenance-related issues.

What is most valuable?

Symantec End-user Endpoint Security is a very powerful solution. They have a feature called location awareness which is great. There's another feature that I like, which is their group update provider. It's also integrated with a number of other Symantec solutions which is nice.

What needs improvement?

The console in general could be improved. There are two consoles. There's an on-prem console and a hosted console, but the on-prem console doesn't do the product justice — it's a bit cumbersome.

It could use more feature parity between what is offered with their on-prem console as well as their hosted console.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for roughly 15 years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Symantec End-user Endpoint Security is both scalable and stable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was quite straightforward. We deployed it in-house. From start to finish, deployment took less than a day.

What other advice do I have?

If you're interested in integration with network Symantec solutions, Symantec web solutions, and Symantec cloud solutions, informed protection is the right solution. I would recommend this solution for anyone who's looking for that level of enterprise integration.

Overall, on a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of eight.
