Excellent support with great product licenses and well-performing software
Pros and Cons
  • "The product license and support delivery have been great!"
  • "Their product is good and it meets our requirements, however, new features are also most welcome and we never hesitated to try new features."

What is our primary use case?

With VMware ESXi with Vcenter setup including HP SAN, we are using this backup and replication solution for local and cloud backup including offsite backups.

In this software, they give an option to copy the backup to another NASWasabi is the cheapest option for cloud backup and we are using it as a cloud backup since their support is good and they are ready to listen to our requirements and give better use suggestions.

The software has been working since 2018. After a few months of testing, it looks like the solution is solid.

What is most valuable?

I appreciate the management that really does respond quickly. They reply immediately to any query raised from us as a technician or consultant and they know the pulse of the market and keep updating the features in such a big way. Kudos to the team.

I appreciate the motivation and confidence. It helps to sell Nakivo products when outstanding support is provided and its well-performing software easily beats competitors.

The product license and support delivery have been great!

What needs improvement?

I'm okay with the solutions they are providing. Their product is good and it meets our requirements, however, new features are also most welcome and we never hesitated to try new features.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for more than three years.

How has it helped my organization?

It is nice to have a fast and reliable backup solution.

What is most valuable?

The solution has a user-friendly interface and is easy to configure.

What needs improvement?

In the next release, it would be good to have ability/feature to backup only Oracle database from the Linux OS beside backing up whole VM.

Stability plays a big role when implementing the solution, and this solution definitely has it.

Runs quietly, has a clean interface, and is easy to set up
Pros and Cons
  • "The features that we like the most are the Backup Copy and Active Directory Integration. They have helped us to save a lot of time since we do not have to make the backup copies “by hand”."
  • "There is a lack of native (web-based) update functionality."

What is our primary use case?

We have been using this for six years and it has been one of the applications that I know I can trust.

Setup was easy and a breeze to perform. Past the initial setup stage and additional config changes, there was very little need for me to intervene and interact with the product. It just works!

Other than the occasional recovery, the system will run quietly without problems and if there is any issue, it will send you a notification (not that I had many).

The interface is clean, simple, and easy to use.

How has it helped my organization?

We were looking for a comfortable and automized backup system that makes the backup copies automatically. This is why we decided to use NAKIVO. It fulfils this aspect and many other points that we were looking for on a backup system.

Furthermore, NAKIVO is easy and fast to use and to manage the system and installation is very intuitive and it is easy to follow it. We needed a backup and replication tool that makes the backup copies outside of office hours. We needed something that could be integrated with Active Directory and we needed an updated software with high-quality technical support.

What is most valuable?

One of the features that we like the most from Nakivo software is its interface. It is very intuitive and easy to use once you become familiar with it. Moreover, backup copies can be configured manually and we can do it whenever we want without interrupting the working hours of the clients.

The features that we like the most are the Backup Copy and Active Directory Integration. They have helped us to save a lot of time since we do not have to make the backup copies “by hand”. Furthermore, we have also saved a lot of time whenever we needed to recover a backup.

Active Directory is very important for us in order to manage our informatics system.

What needs improvement?

The web interface is very complete and it has many useful options. When starting to use it, it can be a little difficult to understand every option that it has but, when you get used to it and work with it, it is a very comfortable tool.

There is a lack of native (web-based) update functionality. To update the Linux appliance, you need to download a script and run commands from SSH. This is unacceptable.

There's a lack of appliance format in Hyper-V format (why only a VMware native format? They should release a VHD file appliance).

Overall, the evolution of the product is good.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've used the solution for six years.

How are customer service and technical support?

If you ever need their support, they will provide you one of the best experiences.

Their technical staff know their subject and will be able to solve your problems. One of the most satisfying support calls was with their technical support team, kudos and keep up the great work!

Centralized control console is rock solid and extremely easy to manage
Pros and Cons
    • "The first implementation is a bit difficult but once is up and running is rock solid and extremely easy to manage."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is for cloud/datacenter/infrastructure backup. We have set up a centralized multitenant console to manage our customer backups from multi datacenter sources. We have a unique director and many transporters accross many infrastructures and we centrally manage customer's backups.

How has it helped my organization?

The centralized cloud console for many tenants is great and clear and helped us to grant a BaaS service of excellence.

    What is most valuable?

The centralized cloud console for many tenants is great and clear. The first implementation is a bit difficult but once is up and running is rock solid and extremely easy to manage.

    What needs improvement?

At the moment the solution is just great for our needs.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Nakivo for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I never had a stability issue.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's easy to increase or decrease tenants and licenses.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer service is fast, gentle and concrete.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We tried Veeam but the price was excessive and we have a better percentage of successful backups with Nakivo.

    How was the initial setup?

The setup was a bit complex but not too hard.

    What about the implementation team?

    We implemented in-house.

    What was our ROI?

The ROI is more than other backup solutions. The price for a license is nice and leaves a good margin for the service provider.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

    Veeam.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Hybrid Cloud

Good support, quick to deploy, clean management console, and supports various storage types
    Pros and Cons
    • "Every new version has got some tweaks and improvements in stability and speed."
    • "In the future, I would like to see support for backing up data to more cloud platforms, besides Amazon."

What is our primary use case?

We mainly use Nakivo for Microsoft Office 365 backup, as well as for file backup.

It can do all of the promised features well and without any problem.

How has it helped my organization?

Nakivo is responsible for backing up all of our Office 365 accounts, and it works very well.

It has improved the organization of our data in the system. We have better security in terms of emails and documents, too. After we deployed it to a VMware environment, it worked almost instantly.

Nakivo comes with built-in storage but you can add almost any type of storage to it. This includes options like NAS, NFS, etc. It supports a lot of connection types for backing up to the cloud, and it is continuously growing.

Every new version has got some tweaks and improvements in stability and speed.

    What is most valuable?

One of the most valuable features is the logical and clean mechanism behind the management console. It's easy to use, with a very clear and logical structure.

It compresses the backed-up data very well, and even after compression, from time to time, you can reclaim space from the backup repository without data loss. It's a very valuable feature.

The first time we set up all the jobs, and ever since, it has handled the daily tasks and manages errors, if it has any.

The Transporter module works well and it is fast, too, over the local area network. It saves us a lot of time, starting with the fast deployment and configuration, through to the daily backup jobs, controlling the processes, and watching the data storage space.

The repository management features are good.

There is a self-healing feature that works great if there is any file system damage that occurs.

    What needs improvement?

In the future, I would like to see support for backing up data to more cloud platforms, besides Amazon. It is a great start, given that Amazon is the largest cloud provider, but smaller companies use smaller clouds.

The tape backup capability can be also improved, perhaps by adding a cache for older and slower tapes.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Nakivo for two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is solid as a rock.

It does not need a lot of computing resources, works silently, and does not need a lot of intervention.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a very scalable product.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support for Nakivo is great.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another similar solution prior to implementing Nakivo.

    How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was not complex at all.

    What about the implementation team?

    Our in-house team deployed it.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It has a very good price in the market.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We did not evaluate other options.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, my opinion is that this software is good and has improved very well since the previous versions.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises

If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?

Easy to set up and use, and includes agents for most NAS systems
    Pros and Cons
    • "It is easy to set up using the included virtual appliance and also includes agents for most NAS systems."
    • "We are satisfied with Nakivo, but if anything could be improved, I think it would be more real-time as opposed to email support availability."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is backing up a vSphere environment in our data center.

Our company supports local and national manufacturers, accountants, retail services, and other sectors of the economy. Further details would violate security protocols, so that is all I will say about the environment that we support, in a public forum.

Our company maintains partnerships with major technology providers and designs custom solutions for our tenants.

How has it helped my organization?

Nakivo is a simple-to-use alternative to other more costly vSphere backup alternatives. It is easy to set up using the included virtual appliance and also includes agents for most NAS systems.

    What is most valuable?

Nakivo is easy to use but includes many advanced features like crash-consistent backups for MS SQL, etc.

    What needs improvement?

We are satisfied with Nakivo, but if anything could be improved, I think it would be more real-time as opposed to email support availability.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Nakivo for two years.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another similar product prior to Nakivo.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing currently allows for host-based licensing, which is advantageous if you have a lot of data on a few hosts.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Veeam before choosing Nakivo.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    On-premises
