Stable with reasonable pricing and a straightforward installation
Pros and Cons
  • "We found the installation to be very straightforward and the deployment process to be very fast."
  • "We've found that sometimes the solution is not doing its job in detecting some malware."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for endpoint security and protection.

What is most valuable?

We haven't had any major issues with the solution overall. It's quite a reliable product so far.

The stability has been reliable so far.

The pricing has been quite good and very reasonable.

We found the installation to be very straightforward and the deployment process to be very fast.

What needs improvement?

We've found that sometimes the solution is not doing its job in detecting some malware. They need to make sure that they are advancing their technology to catch more malicious events. There needs to be more security in place specifically on the malware side of things.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for two years. It has been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is quite stable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. the performance has been reliable so far.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability hasn't really been tested by our organization. We've never tried to expand it, and therefore I can't speak to how successful expanding it may be for other companies.

We only have two users of the solution in our company.

At this time, we likely won't keep using the solution.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never opened any tickets with technical support. I can't speak to how helpful or responsive they are. I've never dealt with them directly.

How was the initial setup?

The installation was not complex at all. It was very straightforward. A company shouldn't have any issues with the process.

The deployment was also quite quick. It only takes a few minutes, if I recall the process correctly. It's not long and drawn out. It's easy.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the implementation myself. It's not difficult. I did not need the assistance of an integrator or consultant at all.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

At the time, when we purchased the solution, the company was giving us the best deal on the market. It's the reason why we ended up choosing it. I don't recall the licensing aspects or if we had to pay for it, and if so, how much.

What other advice do I have?

I'd rate the solution at an eight out of ten.

I haven't suffered from a malicious attack, and therefore I'm treating it quite high, as it is doing what we need it to do. The protection levels so far have been sufficient.

It's a good solution that companies should consider if other options are not available to them.

The centralized management enables freedom to deal with the protection.
Pros and Cons
  • "The centralized management is a nice features. It gives us the leeway to deal with other things as protection is being carried on in the background. We do not have to keep on watching as long as we have the right updates. It also saves us time."
  • "If someone has the older version of the solution, and wants to install a newer version, they must remove all of the previous applications. Otherwise, there will be issues with the solution."

What is our primary use case?

A networked environment with workstations in remote stations. The organisation has a HQ where the IT centrally manages resources with AV being one of the resources.

How has it helped my organization?

The centralized management is a nice feature. It gives us the leeway to deal with other things as protection is being carried on in the background. We do not have to keep watching, as long as we have the right updates. In addition, it saves us time.

What is most valuable?

The centralised management console. Ability to discover machines and see their realtime state. Integration with AD also helps in identifying sources of infection and acting appropriately

What needs improvement?

If someone has the older version of the solution, and wants to install a newer version, they must remove all of the previous applications. Otherwise, there will be issues with the solution in the long run. There should be a remover tool that is embedded on the agent. Then, it could check on incompatible previous versions and remove the same on the background. This needs improvement. There have been cases where one installs newer versions on top of existing version e.g 10.2 on top of 10.1 going onto 11.0 the upgrades will refuse to install requiring one to clean the machine of any trace of Kaspersky using the removal tool. In settings where centralised management is used the requirement that you handle an single computer is time consuming. I just want to be pushing the patches and upgrades without a hustle.

I think that there are issues of agents and the upgrades.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is OK. I have not had any crashing at all. I also have not had to repair the application. Any patches that I have to do, I do it and move on.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scaling is fine.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licensing is fine, and it is well within reasonable rates.

Scalable, user-friendly, and reliable
Pros and Cons
  • "It's a user-friendly solution."
  • "It would be ideal with the solution offered more documentation."

What is our primary use case?

The solution is primarily used to protect my personal information. I use it for security purposes.

What is most valuable?

The solution has been very easy to use. It's a user-friendly solution.

The product is very stable.

The scalability of the product is good.

What needs improvement?

It would be ideal with the solution offered more documentation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for about two or three years at this point. I'm unsure of the exact amount of time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable and the performance is good. It's reliable. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. If a company needs to expand it, it can do so.

That said, I only use it for personal use, and therefore haven't really attempted to scale it.

How are customer service and technical support?

I've never had to reach out to technical support. I haven't had any issues. Therefore, I cannot speak to how helpful or responsive their team is if you do run into problems.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is very straightforward and simple. It's not overly difficult to set up. A user shouldn't have any issues with the process.

While I cannot speak to the exact amount of time it took to set up, I recall it being a rather fast process.

What other advice do I have?

I have the solution deployed to my laptop. I only use it for personal purposes, not for business usage.

I'd rate the solution at a nine out of ten. I've been pretty happy with its capabilities.

I would recommend the solution to other users and organizations.

Encryption functionality and scanning performance, and the out-of-office policy is helpful in work-from-home scenarios
Pros and Cons
  • "It has a very good firewall, which lets you isolate your devices depending on the groups."
  • "he next thing that I would like to see in this solution are DLP features."

What is our primary use case?

We are a solution provider and Kaspersky Endpoint is one of the security products that we implement for our clients.

How has it helped my organization?

Kaspersky is a one-stop solution that covers many things. Often, people deploy multiple solutions to cover tasks such as patch management, application control, device control, and the firewall. Kaspersky covers all of that very well.

What is most valuable?

The out of office policy is a fantastic feature that requires users to first connect to the server using a VPN before they can perform actions. In our current work-from-home scenario, this is very helpful.

Kaspersky gives you a complete inventory of the software that is running in your environment.

The encryption that they provide is a good feature. Today, most computers come by default with BitLocker encryption installed. We do not have to disable it. Rather, we can control it through Kaspersky. For example, we can decrypt it remotely without having to interact with the user, and then automatically move it to Kaspersky's encryption.

It has a very good firewall, which lets you isolate your devices depending on the groups. This is something that people might do over VLAN, although they don't have to. For example, if we have a group then we require directors to be in place. Directors are there to communicate with other sections, but the other sections cannot communicate with the group. This provides automatic control over an IP range.

I can do a full scan, every day, in less than ten minutes. This is in part because of the technology they have in place, where a file will not be scanned if it has not been accessed or modified.

The device control is pretty good and we haven't had any problems with it.

What needs improvement?

There are times when we see an agent has been disabled on a machine, and we are not able to determine the reason.

The next thing that I would like to see in this solution are DLP features. It should be able to scan, track, and provide reporting.

Organization-wise, they should have better categorization. For example, they have a social networking category, but it should be subdivided into components such as LinkedIn.

Kaspersky would benefit from including an employee monitoring solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using Kaspersky for the past three years.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is something that has been gradually improving.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment will typically take from an hour and a half to two hours.

A nice feature of the installation process is that it will automatically uninstall existing antivirus solutions before it deploys Kaspersky.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, this is a fantastic solution. I have seen that there are features other vendors are coming out with today that Kaspersky already has.

I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Excellent at detecting viruses, very stable and easy to use
Pros and Cons
  • "It's excellent at detecting viruses."
  • "The initial setup is complex."

What is our primary use case?

We primarily use the solution for securing our endpoints.

What is most valuable?

The solution always has the most up-to-date software.

The solution runs well.

It's excellent at detecting viruses.

The solution is very stable.

Our organization can easily scale the solution.

The solution is very compatible with Windows devices.

The solution is very basic and easy to use.

What needs improvement?

The solution seems incapable of stopping the proxy connection. The proxy server seems to be bypassing the antivirus. It's an aspect they need to improve.

The initial setup is complex.

While it's compatible with Windows, it may not work as well with other operating systems.

Reporting is not that good for Kaspersky. I want more detailed reporting, I want the details reported in the reporting section, and everything is in one report. That is not possible now on Kaspersky. The reporting consists of the computer name or the IP only. I want complete detailed reporting capabilities in the next update.

For how long have I used the solution?

We're only been working with the solution for about a year or so.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable. I haven't had issues with it and found it to be reliable. It doesn't crash or freeze. There aren't bugs or glitches.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is easily scalable. If a company needs to expand the solution, they can do so easily.

How are customer service and technical support?

The technical support is okay, however, they need to have more expertise on the solution. Sometimes you will get a member of their support staff and they don't seem as knowledgeable as they should be.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We work mostly with Kaspersky, as well as Trend Micro and Bitdefender.

How was the initial setup?

I wouldn't say that the solution has a straightforward implementation. It's a bit complex. It needs access to the Kaspersky server on-premises. It isn't an easy process.

You only need one day to deploy the server.

You only need one or two people to manage the deployment.

What about the implementation team?

I handled the implementation myself.

What other advice do I have?

We're a Kaspersky partner.

We have clients of different sizes and the solution works well for all of them. It's perfect for any sized company.

It's a very good product. Everything is in a very professional environment. It's largely easy to set up. However, we've noticed that the RAM utilization is very high when Kaspersky is running on a computer. This might distract users that don't have too much memory on their machines.

On a scale of one to ten, I'd rate it at eight.

The central management policies of this product are valuable to us
Pros and Cons
  • "We swtiched to Kaspersky Endpoint Security because we found our previous solution did not meet our requirements."
  • "I think it would be good for them to consider and cloud integration capabilities."

What is our primary use case?

My primary use case of this solution is to use a large enterprise endpoint protection for our computers and servers.

What is most valuable?

I value the modular capability to house the network, device, web and email protection. Additionally, the central management policies are valuable.

What needs improvement?

We have experienced problems with downloads and integration in the past. I think it would be good for them to consider cloud integration capabilities.

For how long have I used the solution?

More than five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of this product on a scale of one to five, is a four.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I would rate the scalability as a four out of five stars.

How are customer service and technical support?

We use a local partner who helps us with tech support. We are happy with the services they have provided.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We switched to Kaspersky Endpoint Security because we found our previous solution did not meet our requirements.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was difficult, because we did not know the product.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

When choosing a product, we review product functionality, financial concerns and effective deployment. We looked at McAfee and others.

Great at handling server workload but abundance of features can be confusing
Pros and Cons
  • "The initial setup was fairly simple, taking only a few minutes."
  • "Areas for improvement include signature update management and selecting the respective features on the endpoint side."

What is our primary use case?

My primary use case is on server workload, where this solution works really well.

What needs improvement?

Areas for improvement include signature update management and selecting the respective features on the endpoint side. There are so many features available that it can be difficult to know which to choose, and if you have very low-level endpoint devices, the user experience is slower, especially when updates are running.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for about three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This product is stable, though that can depend on business structure and the kinds of devices used.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

I'm satisfied with the performance of Kaspersky's technical support.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was fairly simple, taking only a few minutes.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Yearly licenses are available.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution for other people looking into implementing it and rate it as seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
