Initially, it did greatly improve the security, however, signature-based malware prevention is not very useful anymore
Pros and Cons
  • "Especially the firewalling, I found useful, as you can control the applications and services on a granular level to tell them where they have access to or not."
  • "The policies are easy to make and controlled by the Kaspersky Administrative Security Center, which comes at no additional costs."
  • "Malware protection for Kaspersky should be revolutionized, where they no longer work with signatures, but with more advanced ways of detecting malware, such as Cylance or Traps from Palo Alto."
  • "It is not very good for the performance of the system, and especially with older devices, it has a noticeable impact."

What is our primary use case?

Since introduced years ago, it has been used to prevent various types of malware infections. It has also introduced additional features for firewalling to better control applications regarding network activities.

How has it helped my organization?

Initially, it did greatly improve the security. However, as many of us know, signature-based malware prevention is not very useful anymore. Aside from not stopping all threats, it is not very good for the performance of the system, and especially with older devices, it has a noticeable impact. But in regard to other legacy solutions, I do believe Kaspersky is one of the better ones.

What is most valuable?

Especially the firewalling, I found useful, as you can control the applications and services on a granular level to tell them where they have access to or not.

The policies are easy to make and controlled by the Kaspersky Administrative Security Center, which comes at no additional costs.

What needs improvement?

Malware protection for Kaspersky should be revolutionized, where they no longer work with signatures, but with more advanced ways of detecting malware, such as Cylance or Traps from Palo Alto.

It's easy to set up and manage
Pros and Cons
  • "Setting up Kaspersky is easy, but it requires two or three core members from our team, including admins and managers if necessary. And that is because of the administration that I mentioned."
  • "I'd like Kaspersky to be more stable and secure."

What is our primary use case?

It's on-premise. There are three Kaspersky appliances — EPP, EDR, and the sandbox — that all work together. If someone wants to secure their internal endpoints, they can use the EBB and the EDR tools. You can use these to investigate traffic on the endpoint. The sandboxing feature is used to check the files.

What needs improvement?

I'd like Kaspersky to be more stable and secure.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been providing Kaspersky for many years. Before I joined this company, my company worked for several years with various endpoint protection solutions by Kaspersky, Trend Micro, Carbon Black, and others.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Yeah, yeah. Stable and scalable.

How are customer service and support?

Kaspersky support has cooperated with us. They were very helpful.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Kaspersky is easy, but it requires two or three core members from our team, including admins and managers if necessary. And that is because of the administration that I mentioned. And we set up an SQL Server to manage Kaspersky. With help from the customer team, it takes only six to seven days to get it working.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Kaspersky requires a license. I don't remember how much it costs exactly, but it's charged per appliance.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security eight out of 10. I recommend it.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

The performance could be better, but the functionality is good
Pros and Cons
  • "As far as it functions, it works fine."
  • "It's very heavy and it affects the computer's performance."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for the antivirus to secure our PCs and server rooms.

What is most valuable?

As far as it functions, it works fine.

From a technical standpoint, they are good and it's functional, but improvements are needed.

What needs improvement?

It's very heavy and it affects the computer's performance.

We need better performance. A lightweight solution without affecting the performance of the computer would be better.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for 14 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I don't have any issues with the stability of Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution. We have approximately 200 users in our organization.

We have plans to increase our usage.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support is okay. I don't have any issues with them.

How was the initial setup?

I was not involved in the installation but seems to be straightforward.

We have three people to manage this solution for our organization. The team is made up of two engineers and one manager.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Licensing fees are paid annually.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution but the performance needs to be improved.

I would rate this solution a four out of ten.

Improves security for our mobile and VMware infrastructure
Pros and Cons
  • "It helps to improve our security for our mobile and VMware infrastructure. The remote tasks are great."
  • "The reports aren't so good. To make it a perfect ten they should improve the reports and web interface."

What is our primary use case?

Kaspersky has performed nicely, we haven't had any issues with the end user. Our primary use case is for the detection features.

How has it helped my organization?

It helps to improve our security for our mobile and VMware infrastructure. The remote tasks are great.

What is most valuable?

  • Deployment
  • Reports
  • Detection

What needs improvement?

I would like to see an enhanced web platform.

The reports and email notifications have room for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

Three to five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability is very good. We haven't had any problems.

How are customer service and technical support?

I haven't had to use their technical support yet.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have only used Kaspersky. The criteria that was important to us when considering a solution was that it would be easy to use and that it would have easy upgrades.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was easy.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate it a nine out of ten. The reports aren't so good. To make it a perfect ten they should improve the reports and web interface.

Provides good visibility of the endpoint; cloud management was somewhat difficult
Pros and Cons
  • "It provides good security."
  • "There were issues with the cloud management."

What is our primary use case?

The primary use case was for endpoint security.

What is most valuable?

As much as the solution is an endpoint product, it provided good security. When you logged in, you could actually see all the things that were happening on your endpoint and that was a benefit.

What needs improvement?

I had issues with the cloud management of this solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I used this solution for about a year and recently switched to a different solution.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution was stable but it crashed the application sometimes. As much as it's an endpoint security, I think it should be intelligent enough to know which applications are secure and which are not.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were using this solution but we recently switched to Sophos.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is quite straightforward. It took a few minutes, but the solution is complex to manage because as much as it was cloud-based, the machines in our environment meant that when you wanted to uninstall or remove an appliance from the portal, it was a bit hectic. The portal would say it's been removed but your machine didn't agree with that. We had about 50 users of the product and one engineer dealing with maintenance.

What other advice do I have?

I think the solution is suitable for a mid-size organization but not for enterprise size companies that need endpoint security.

I rate Kaspersky a seven out of 10.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A stable and affordable endpoint security solution
Pros and Cons
  • "I like that Kaspersky isn't heavy."
  • "It should be more secure and detect new malware as it's released."

What is our primary use case?

I use Kaspersky like an end-user, I just want security, but I don't use all the features. I only use it for protection, like when someone puts a pen drive inside my PC and to block some websites and content.

What is most valuable?

I like that Kaspersky isn't heavy.

What needs improvement?

Like most of the virus scanning products, it can be better. It should be more secure and detect new malware as it's released.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security is a stable product.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. It takes about an hour to install and deploy this solution.

What about the implementation team?

I installed it by myself.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's an affordable security solution.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this product to potential users.

On a scale from one to ten, I would give Kaspersky Endpoint Security an eight.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
