What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business is a stable solution. We are always connected with Kaspersky and updating our server.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business is a scalable solution. The solution has covered 100 endpoints, and it is deployed across five locations.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have previously used McAfee and Apex One.

How was the initial setup?

The solution's initial setup is very simple and has no complexity.

What about the implementation team?

To deploy the solution, we get the demo, get quotations, and get it approved by the management. There was only one distributor of premium security in Pakistan, and their team deployed the solution on our premises. The solution was deployed within one week in our organization.

What was our ROI?

Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business provides value for money.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution's pricing is reasonable.

What other advice do I have?

We have Kaspersky-certified professionals within my team. There are two certified professionals, one is Sophos certified, two are VMware certified, and one is Veeam certified. We have multiple team members. We have certified employees in the IT team under my supervision.

We are planning to implement SIEMS, SOC, and threat intelligence and outsource these three services to manage service providers. We currently have a 100 Kaspersky license, and we are satisfied with the performance of the solution. We update the pattern twice daily, and we have found no issues.

We have already blocked the major USPs. We are using licensed Microsoft software, and we have implemented anti-spammer firewalls. It's a controlled environment. It is quite difficult, and we are conducting assessment, penetration testing, and IT risk assessment on a yearly basis. So, our environment is a very controlled environment.

Our in-house team members and support staff are trained to maintain the solution and take care of issues. I would recommend the solution to other users.

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Goes beyond anti-malware and anti-spam but difficulty in achieving optimal performance due to configuration
Pros and Cons
  • "First of all, I like that it's perfect against malware threats and behavior analysis along with signature analysis. That's the key point for me."
  • "I might have the best product in the market. But if it's not properly configured, then I'm losing many of these features. I'm not getting the most out of them. And this is actually one of the biggest challenges that we're facing."

What is our primary use case?

Use cases really depend on how you configure it. It's an endpoint security solution that goes beyond anti-malware and anti-spam. It also includes network protection, vulnerability audits, and other features you might need.

What is most valuable?

First of all, I like that it's perfect against malware threats and behavior analysis along with signature analysis. That's the key point for me. Another thing I value is the alarm support with EDR active. It helps me root cause issues and detect suspicious behavior.

What needs improvement?

Most companies aren't familiar with Kaspersky's MDR offering. Everyone's talking about XDR and MDR solutions now, and Kaspersky mainly offers EDR. I believe they should consider more advanced solutions, especially for ransomware protection and similar critical threats. They might have these solutions, but our provider might not be giving us proper insights. Again, it's possible these features exist, but our reseller isn't making us aware.

In future releases, I would like to see a few things. First, I'd like a centralized view for managing security across a large organization with multiple offices.

Second, some built-in solutions can alert IT about suspicious behavior before any damage occurs, like applications sending unusual emails or data alerts.

I want to add that performance needs to be considered. Security doesn't require ongoing configuration. My crucial point is whether the solution, with my configuration from six months ago, still provides adequate security. In terms of support,  I was thinking of a managed security service provider because security isn't our primary business, and we lack the necessary skills to manage it ourselves. We rely on others to do it.

We lack the skills and need a third-party provider with expertise. So, we have a third party that can provide managed security services and keep me updated on the latest products and practices. I just need to be confident we're using the best available solution.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for more than five years now. I've experience with this product but with an advanced license.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution. But there are better solutions, or perhaps upgrades might be better.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a highly scalable solution. We are an enterprise business, so we have around a thousand end users.

How are customer service and support?

I receive support from our reseller at Kaspersky.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

I would rate my experience with the initial setup a seven out of ten, with one being difficult and ten being easy.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment process needs an expert, so it takes hours to configure all the features properly. It's not a quick process.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I would rate the solution a seven out of ten because, again, I might have the best product in the market. But if it's not properly configured, then I'm losing many of these features. I'm not getting the most out of them. And this is actually one of the biggest challenges that we're facing.

An easy-to-deploy tool with good application control
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the application control is very good."
  • "The GUI mode in the product is an area with certain shortcomings since it looks old with the graphics provided by Kaspersky."

What is our primary use case?

In my company, we use Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business, just like how we use Sophos Central and Trend Micro Integrated Data Loss Prevention.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the application control is very good.

What needs improvement?

The GUI mode in the product is an area with certain shortcomings since it looks old with the graphics provided by Kaspersky. The aforementioned area can be considered for improvement in the product.

Once you look at the console from the on-premises version, you can see that the GUI mode is very old, meaning you feel like you are dealing with something vintage in nature. The tool's GUI mode is not updated to a new one. Kaspersky should change settings or parameters and make it easy enough for users to create policies since, presently, some difficulties are encountered when creating the policies. The tool needs to change some components in the console to make the product easy to access and configure the policies.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

There are no bugs in the product. It is a stable solution.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I know about a company that has around 600 users of the solution where I did the configuration.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was easy.

The solution is deployed on the cloud and on-premises model.

Once my company gets the license, we access the URL, after which we use the URL for configuration, license activation, creating agents, and creating the necessary policies, after which we take care of the setup phase for handing over the product to the customer.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The tool is expensive.

What other advice do I have?

To those who plan to use the solution, I would say that we need a dedicated server to deploy the tool in several places.

I rate the overall tool an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

It's reliable and secure, but the monitoring and notifications could be more detailed
Pros and Cons
  • "The performance is good. It doesn't use a lot of resources, which is crucial for us."
  • "Kaspersky and most other security products have a lot of modules. They recently added several new ones. You find yourself buying and deploying so many things. There are some modules that everyone uses, like, for example, the orchestration module. Instead of selling them separately, it would be better to have bundles or an all-in-one license."

What is our primary use case?

We install Kaspersky to protect our endpoints for clients and servers. In the past, Kaspersky had different solutions for the clients and servers. We use the solution for protection from viruses, malware, etc., on the client's side.

I'm not sure if we'll increase usage of Kaspersky or try another solution. We are having discussions now with Trend Micro because we have new business requirements, and we want to see all the different capabilities that are there.

When we started with Kaspersky, it was an antivirus system, but now they've added endpoint protection, so it has more capabilities. Trend Micro has the same product and engine for clients and servers. We are using another product from Trend Micro that will integrate these products, which is better than having different solutions. For now, we're still using Kaspersky, but in the future, I think we'll move to Trend Micro.

What is most valuable?

With Kaspersky in place, we haven't faced any problems with viruses, ransomware, or anything like that.

What needs improvement?

If something critical happens, Kaspersky will alert the admin or SOC team about it. I think Kaspersky's reporting, monitoring, and notifications should be more detailed.

In my case, different admins are responsible because we have various departments. There is one admin per department. We don't need to receive all the notifications. We can receive only the critical alerts, but the other admins need to get all of them. That's one area where Kaspersky needs improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using Kaspersky for five or six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The performance is good. It doesn't use a lot of resources, which is crucial for us. However, the performance wasn't optimal out of the box. It needed some tuning on it to be sure that it is the best configuration. Kaspersky is reliable. I can't recall any time we had crashes or downtime.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Kaspersky is highly scalable. Right now, we have more than 500 users in various departments, including regular employees and managers.

How are customer service and support?

Kaspersky support is fast and good.

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Kaspersky isn't complex at all. It's straightforward. You install the server, and then you can install the agent remotely. It didn't take very long either. For post-installation maintenance, we have different sites, and each site has an engineer responsible for handling Kaspersky. The product doesn't necessarily require this many engineers. It's only because we have different locations. Right now, we have five or six engineers across the various sites.

What about the implementation team?

We used a Kaspersky partner for implementation. They were very good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I don't remember exactly what the licenses cost, but it's not too expensive. It's affordable,
especially when you are dealing with on-prem. However, I don't know about the new prices because we are in the process of buying support. We've owned the license for a long time, and we are now bringing in the support, so we are not paying much for this.

Kaspersky and most other security products have a lot of modules. They recently added several new ones. You find yourself buying and deploying so many things. There are some modules that everyone uses, like, for example, the orchestration module. Instead of selling them separately, it would be better to have bundles or an all-in-one license. That would save the customers from having to do lots of implementations. As far as I know, they do not have a bundled license.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security seven out of 10. I think Kaspersky is one of the best products for small and medium-sized businesses. It doesn't need that much experience for implementation and support. I would suggest that new users be patient when they're tuning in the first implementation. They might find that the system uses a lot of resources and the machines become slow. But after spending some time tuning, the product will work fine.

Enables us to manage client security antivirus
Pros and Cons
  • "The hardware hardware detection is the most valuable feature. The feature where you can block and unblock mobile devices is also good."
  • "We would like it so that if a user uses it on-premises, the server should use fewer hardware resources."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for Endpoint security, and we manage client security antivirus and device control. We also use it for web monitoring.

What is most valuable?

The hardware hardware detection is the most valuable feature. The feature where you can block and unblock mobile devices is also good.

What needs improvement?

We would like it so that if a user uses it on-premises, the server should use fewer hardware resources.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business for eleven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the stability a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a highly scalable solution. I rate it a ten out of ten. Around 178 users are using the solution.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. We deployed it in-house as well. It's very easy to deploy and integrate it with our main controller and implement it on our servers. It's two clicks. It's very easy to implement.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The solution is comparatively priced.

What other advice do I have?

It's a very good system. Its centralized dashboard is good. I would rate it a ten out of ten.

Useful for file encryption and provides total security
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is that it provides total security, everything in one."
  • "This solution would be improved if it were more compatible with Windows Server. There is not a client for Windows Server, like for Windows Workstation, so there are a lot of things you cannot control from the local system, or from the desktop directly. You have to control everything from the policy server, not from the client's side. The interface is kind of light, and it's not good—it could be more user-friendly."

What is our primary use case?

Recently, I have primarily been using Kaspersky Endpoint Security for protection against ransomware. I also use this solution for file encryption.

This solution is deployed on-prem.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is that it provides total security, everything in one.

What needs improvement?

This solution would be improved if it were more compatible with Windows Server. There is not a client for Windows Server, like for Windows Workstation, so there are a lot of things you cannot control from the local system, or from the desktop directly. You have to control everything from the policy server, not from the client's side. The interface is kind of light, and it's not good—it could be more user-friendly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is a bit stable. The performance is okay, I'm satisfied with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This solution is scalable.

There are over 100 end users of Kaspersky Endpoint Security in our organization. We have plans to increase usage and buy more licenses because we have some more people.

How are customer service and support?

I have contacted technical support once before. I asked them for something, and they helped me. I don't think we have asked for help since then.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Before implementing Kaspersky, we used Symantec. I've found that Kaspersky is better.

How was the initial setup?

The installation is straightforward. Sometimes it takes five to ten minutes, but it depends on the person. If the person is knowledgeable, it could take two or three minutes, but if not, it takes time.

For deployment and maintenance, we have the system admin and a team of two.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented this solution ourselves.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

For licensing, we pay a yearly subscription.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Kaspersky a nine out of ten, and I would recommend this solution to others.

Provides optimal spyware protection; easy to deploy, easy to use with a good detection rate
Pros and Cons
  • "Easy to deploy, easy to use, and has a good detection rate."
  • "They're restricted to endpoint protection for now, I'd like to see some additional products."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is protection against spyware. We are partners with Kaspersky.

What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to deploy, easy to use, and has a good detection rate. For the SMB segment, it's an optimal solution that is pocket-friendly, and easy to manage. They have a new training portal which is good.

What needs improvement?

There were some issues with reporting which seem to have been resolved. I'd like to see them go to the next level by adding more products because they're restricted to endpoint protection for now.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for one year. I'm a company director.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

To date, we've deployed to around 2,000 users without any issues - I can't comment on numbers above that.

How are customer service and support?

I haven't needed to contact technical support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Kaspersky pricing is reasonable. If you compare it to other top brands such as Symantec and McAfee, Kaspersky costs 30-40% less.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have also worked with Checkpoint Harmony which is good if you're in the enterprise segment. It gives a complete overview of what is happening in your organization, providing detailed information.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend this solution and think that Kaspersky Antivirus is the best antivirus for SMBs. No doubt about it. That said, I do think the quality of service and ease of use is relatively comparable with any of the other top brands.

I rate this product 10 out of 10.

Effective threat protection, light on resources, and priced fair
Pros and Cons
  • "When comparing Kaspersky Endpoint Security to any other solution, Our customers like mostly the reliability, and the ability to defend against viruses, worms, and attacks. It is easy to use and very light on the end-user machine's resources."

What is our primary use case?

The normal use case was for viruses protection. The viruses were getting transferred through the internet and external storage drives to the end-users. However, I am seeing more often customers are going one step further and using a sandboxing environment for protection against ransomware.

    What is most valuable?

When comparing Kaspersky Endpoint Security to any other solution, our customers like mostly the reliability, and the ability to defend against viruses, worms, and attacks. It is easy to use and very light on the end-user machine's resources.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for approximately 13 years.

How are customer service and technical support?

Kaspersky has two kinds of support. Our customers have a layer of support. First, they receive support from providers like us and if we are not able to solve their problem, we involve the distributors' technical support. The customer always has the option to open a ticket directly with Kaspersky, bypassing us. If they do not purchase the support from Kaspersky, then it takes a lot of time to solve a very minor issue from the technical support and development. There is a long queue waiting for support. However, if they purchase the support from Kaspersky, then the support is responsive and helpful.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

    I have used Trend Micro.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This solution is priced lower than some of its competitors.

Kaspersky has introduced new products and upgraded versions of Endpoint Security. It is a bit complicated these days, especially their licensing. They are promoting customers to purchase the EDR, Endpoint Detection and Response, rather than going for the Endpoint Security only. The EDR requirement for deployment is a little higher, especially for mid-size or small-size companies. The server they require for the EDR or sandboxing is pretty heavy and costly. If they can reduce the price, then it would have been a good cloud solution.

The support from Kaspersky is purchased separately.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I have evaluated Carbon Black and SentinelOne.

What other advice do I have?

They should have a minimum number of solutions available. They used to have only three or four, feature-wise, but now they have probably seven or eight. There are too many options for the client, they get it confused. All the features used to be in one solution, but now they have them all separated. For example, they used to have a DLP, scanning, and patch management in the Endpoint Security, but now they do not. They separated them into other solutions. It would be better for marketing, as well their customers too to combine the features.

I advise my customers that they should compare Kaspersky with other solutions, especially one which is already quickly gaining market ground, especially in this region, in our country, which is Trend Micro. Trend Micro is also very good. They are a comparable competitor against Kaspersky. Being on the neutral side, I give them both options to use, and then they can decide by themselves. However, Trend Micro is actually more expensive than Kaspersky.

I rate Kaspersky Endpoint Security an eight out of ten.
