We are able to maintain a higher level of performance & efficiency in our virtual environment.

We would like to see Turbonomics dive into JVMs and continue to work with HP in the integration with HP OneView 3.0. This would provide a better overall picture of the physical infrastructure layer.

The setup is very straightforward. Deploy the VM from their OVA file and within 30 minutes you're up and running and ready to automate workload placement.

We have easily saved tens of thousands of dollars over the last 2 years by enabling right-sizing and automated workload placement.

Load the demo and see the recommendations. You'll be blown away by how over-provisioned your virtual machines are.

The automated moving of VM's to hosts that provide the best performance is awesome along with the right-sizing of the VM automatically save a tremendous amount of time.

Our CPU ready used to be off the charts, after just a day or two, Turbonomic had it all fixed and users were very happy.

Automatic upgrades that are hands off would be great, however the upgrades are pretty easy and take only a few minutes.

One of the most valuable tools we encountered with Turbonomic was not even the automation tool we bought it for, but the sizing tool.  We used it when we did our hardware refresh and it was able to tell us how many servers we would need based on our environment.  It helped us save a lot of money and not overbuy.

The balancing features on Turbonomic help keep our environment running fast and more efficiently over even DRS and sDRS.  In fact one the best performance features is the rightsizing tool, to either increase or decrease sizes of specific VM's.  Again this can save money, but also allows our clusters to perform much more reliably with little to no CPU Ready.

I would like to see more integration with 3rd parties.  For example, I would like to be able to provision more storage from Turbonomic, not just have it tell me I need more.

I've used this solution for about 3 years now.

Easiest deployment ever, install it, give it an IP, point it to vCenter and you're done.

Turbonomic has some very useful features like being able to link multiple clusters together to for a super cluster allow us to balance out our load as needed. We also have started using the automation available in Turbonomic to automate some of our workloads that have been virtualized.

From a engineer perspective the ability to automate and show what is being used and what is really needed has helped us gain traction with virtualization. Also allowing application teams to login to Turbonomic and scope them to their servers has been a very valuable tool for us.

I think the UI could be cleaned up some which I know they are working on. I have seen the demo and it looks good from what I have seen so far. Also reporting needs to be worked on, the lack of ability to edit a report has been a challenge. Also vROps has better canned reports.

Deployment is almost two easy. We have been working through challenges with the storage module but support continues to push through that to find out what my real issue is there.

Automation, policies, and reports have made a lot of previously manual work now either more efficient or completely automated.

I would like to see the new HTML5 web interface released soon. In using the preview, it looks very promising.

It was very straightforward. The OVA file was simply imported into vSphere and turned. Following that it was just a matter of a few simple networking configurations.

Turbonomic is very unique and lends many strengths to further augment my virtual infrastructure.

For us, the monitoring features, as well as the right-sizing recommendations and reports have been the most valuable.

It helps us stay on top of the health of our virtual infrastructure, make near-real-time decisions on how to fine-tune and adjust our infrastructure, and lets us be proactive in our approach.

The appliance interface doesn’t list the features/capabilities that licenses can be purchased for, so unless you were directly involved in the negotiations. Purchasing of the appliance, there is no way to tell what feature set you have. An example would be the network control module. There’s no way to tell, just from looking at the interface, whether or not that module is included/activated/licensed. It would be nice if the UI included a break-down of features that are both licensed as well as un-licensed. That way, you could not only see what you have, but what you don't.
Also, the right-sizing recommendations are great, but very little info is given about why the recommendation is being made. More info would not only increase understanding, but would help drive decision-making.

The customer service folks have always been polite and professional.

On the few occasions that we've had to contact support, it's always been good. We haven't ever sat on hold for extended periods of time, and have always been satisfied with the abilities of the representatives.

Optimizing the pieces of the IT environment that supports the applications is a great way to take preemptive measures towards keeping the environment healthy. The support team at Turbonomic is always there to help troubleshoot, teach, and understand the software.

Turbonomic has kept my applications healthy and shown different ways to move my environment to a healthy state.

The UI could use some improvement, but the preview of the new UI shows great confidence in the product.
