Customer server is always great and respond to my tickets quick.

Technical Support:

The technical team are very knowledgeable of the product and knows when to ask for senior assistant when needed.

Helps mitigate risks in vSphere environment and boost efficiency

Valuable Features:

Advanced load balancing capabilities, also across clusters. The storage load balancing has helped us avoid LUNs going full. Also, the ability to show historic peak values for guest metrics is a wonderful tool for rightsizing guests.

Improvements to My Organization:

Turbonomic has helped mitigating the risks of LUNs filling up and resource congestion on individual hosts.

Room for Improvement:

An option to remove unlicensed features from the dashboard would be welcome. We're licensed for the "Workload Edition", so any features that are available only to the "Application Edition" or "Cloud Native Edition" could be hidden from the GUI to avoid misunderstandings, and getting less clutter.

Deployment Issues:

Besides having to manually set "no access" on clusters we did not want to license, it was a breeze.

Stability Issues:

None yet.

Scalability Issues:

None.

Customer Service:

They have been very helpful every time we've been in contact.

Automation and planning capabilities have become a valuable asset for us.

What is most valuable?

Automation and planning capabilities have become a valuable asset for us.

How has it helped my organization?

VMTurbo helps us manage our virtual infrastructure with a more automated and hands off approach thanks to the way it proactively looks at issues. Automated v-motioning, for example, has been a great and reliable feature.

What needs improvement?

While old dashboard view is good, keep improving on the new Dashboard as I feel it is much better. Improve reporting capabilities, perhaps an export to Tableau.

For how long have I used the solution?

Approximately 17 months.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

No issues with deployment.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No issues with stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No issues with scalability.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

Excellent.

Technical Support:

Excellent.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Previously we did not use any real virtual infrastructure insight tools aside from SolarWinds. VMTurbo is a different animal however because it provides automation and a proactive approach to monitoring.

How was the initial setup?

Straightforward.

What about the implementation team?

We implemented ourselves with minimal VMTurbo support.

What other advice do I have?

Definitely try this if you have a huge virtual infrastructure, it has become a staple in our environment.

I like that it allows me to easily pull up PDF report.

What is most valuable?

I've found that the automation of moving VMs for resource allocation is second to none. Excellent feature that makes my life a lot easier.

How has it helped my organization?

This product allows me to do other things while it takes care of all the "grunt" work. It also allows me to pull up reports in PDF format as needed, with ease.

What needs improvement?

This is a very powerful tool that we don't use to its fullest, mostly due to the GUI. If it can be a bit more user friendly and easier to manipulate, I may be able to use the other powerful features it provides.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been using Turbonomics for about a year now.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

Deployment was smooth and easy.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No issues. Very stable product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Only because of licensing, since the model we have is per Core.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

Excellent.

Technical Support:

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

None.

How was the initial setup?

Straightforward and easy.

What about the implementation team?

In-house team.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Make sure you account for future cores, if this is still the licensing model.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

No.

We regularly use reports to show us IOPS stats, over/under utilized VMs, and wasted space on our datastores.

What is most valuable?

Turbonomic has tons of features that we use regularly from reports showing us simple IOPS stats, to showing over/under utilized VMs, and even wasted space on our datastores.  We run a cloud for many customers 24/7 and we are not staffed 24/7 so this keeps metrics for what is going on while we sleep.

How has it helped my organization?

Simple vCenter performance charts will show you only latency on datastores and will not drill down to show VMs causing the trouble.  Turbonomics will show the IOPS and which VM is causing it easy.

What needs improvement?

Reports take time to custom tweak.

For how long have I used the solution?

Nearly 3 years.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

This is a simple appliance deployment so its almost as easy as it gets.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

No issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

Service is fantastic and always willing to help us with questions regarding licensing and other features.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We were looking at vCops originally and the prices would not even compare with nearly 0 compromise.

What other advice do I have?

I never regretted going with Turbonomic over vCops and would easily do it again.

We have fully automated resource scheduling with our VMware clusters.

What is most valuable?

We have fully automated resource scheduling with our VMware clusters. We have taken recommendations on sizing that have saved hundred of gigabytes of RAM throughout our clusters.

How has it helped my organization?

Without having to worry about a host becoming over-utilized, we have been able to work on more important projects. We are able to be more efficient with our host resources, saving the business money.

What needs improvement?

A more robust reporting engine would be a huge boon to us. A bit better error messaging with Application Control Module would help during troubleshooting adding a new target.

For how long have I used the solution?

We've been a Turbo customer since 2014.

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

No, and their support was very quick and helpful to assist with major upgrades. In the end, it was easy enough that with a little Linux knowledge and the Turbo documentation, even major upgrades could be performed without having to contact support.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Turbo is very powerful, and does exactly what you tell it to do. If you configure it to be too aggressive to either efficiency or performance, your cluster might become unbalanced. We have had great stability keeping it slightly skewed towards efficiency vs performance.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No, we have one Turbo instance controlling multiple datacenters.

How are customer service and technical support?

Customer Service:

10/10 on customer support, as well as account management, could not be happier.

Technical Support:

10/10 on technical support. If I encounter a complex issue, they escalate me to a developer resource who dives deeply to find a root cause.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

VMware's DRS didn't seem to balance our clusters very evenly. vROps made sizing recommendations that were just not correct. We tested Turbo and the recommendations were all on point and we are able to trust them.

How was the initial setup?

Very easy setup. OVA template, adding vCenters, making some groups, allowing our firewalls to let Turbo access everything and we were set.

What about the implementation team?

In-house team was easily able to install.

What was our ROI?

We've saved an entire ESXi host worth of RAM with Turbo.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This product is very competitively priced for all the automation it brings.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We actually purchased vROps but it wasn't enough.

What other advice do I have?

We really love Turbo and the time it saves us.
