Easy to use and enables storage and access of large documents from any device
Pros and Cons
  • "We can use the product to store large documents we cannot always carry."
  • "The tool must allow more customization."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for personal backup purposes. It is a cloud storage solution. We can put our documents and information that do not belong to PII. Some people also use the tool to store PII. I use the tool to store certain other documents that are not that important but need to be accessible easily. We also upload many official documents on shared drives.

What is most valuable?

Most of us have Gmail accounts. It is easy to store a copy of our documents on the cloud. The ease of operation of the tool makes it very attractive. We can also store other documents or details on Google Drive. We can use the product to store large documents we cannot always carry.

Some government agencies need the latest photographs not older than two months. We can keep updating the photo and store it on Google Drive. We may not have the hard copy, but we can download the soft copy from the tool. The solution is accessible from anywhere at any time.

It enables users to share dynamic files that need continuous updating with a team. The files keep updating depending on the changes made by each person who has access to them. The product is pretty secure. We must know what to keep in Google Drive and what not to. It is up to each person’s discretion.

It’s a good tool. It is pretty safe. Almost everyone has access to Google. We can integrate the tool into any device we have. We can attach whatever we need at any point in time. If we have a safe device with internet connectivity, we can use it easily.

What needs improvement?

The solution must incorporate more flexibility in security. The tool must allow more customization. The vendor limits access to certain security-related controls they impose.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability seven and a half out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have a lot of space. We can keep expanding it. However, I suggest not increasing the limit beyond a certain point. The more data we put on Google Drive, the more cumbersome it will be to find the required data. It is better to restrict ourselves to the available storage space and update the files when necessary.

What was our ROI?

The product provides a safe means to access documents from anywhere using any device.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use the free version. We will be charged if we increase the storage.

What other advice do I have?

I have limited use for the solution because I always have a backup. I will recommend the product to others. It is up to each individual to decide what they need to store on Google Drive. We must use our discretion. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Google's online storage facility that offers 99.99% uptime
Pros and Cons
  • "Even if you lose your laptop or device, your data will still be accessible on Google Drive Enterprise. Therefore, keeping your files on the tool is a safe option. You can access it from any device if you have a Gmail account. When you create a Gmail account, you automatically get access to free Google resources, including 15 GB of Google Drive Enterprise storage, which is shared across all Google products."
  • "The storage space customization is limited, starting with 2GB and jumping significantly higher without intermediate options. Learning to use the admin console can be complex and overwhelming for some users. Additionally, the subscription payment method could be simpler, as updating payment details can be challenging if a credit card expires. For simple users, Gmail is fine, but business users often require more control."

What is our primary use case?

The tool helps store files remotely. Google Drive Enterprise is an online storage facility provided by Google. Any files you create using Google Suite, such as Google Docs or Google Slides, are automatically stored on Google Drive Enterprise, which serves as a storage repository on the Google Cloud platform.

What is most valuable?

Even if you lose your laptop or device, your data will still be accessible on Google Drive Enterprise. Therefore, keeping your files on the tool is a safe option. You can access it from any device if you have a Gmail account. When you create a Gmail account, you automatically get access to free Google resources, including 15 GB of Google Drive Enterprise storage, which is shared across all Google products.

This storage space is used for storing documents, presentations, and any other data you create. You can upgrade to a paid subscription for more storage, but the basic 15 GB is free.

The tool is valuable for people who rely on Google Suite or Google Cloud to work remotely from anywhere. Even if you lose your laptop or switch devices, as long as you can log into Google Suite, you can access your account, create documents, store files, and perform various tasks.

It provides a remote office facility, allowing you to create shareable documents with any internet user. Instead of attaching the document to an email, you can share it as a link via email, WhatsApp, or other means. Users can click the link to view the document, and you have control over its access permissions. For example, you can grant read-only access to prevent editing.

The most valuable features for me include its high availability and various authentication methods, such as OTP verification. The solution allows sharing of documents with multiple users. Additionally, Google Meet is a powerful tool for online meetings, screen sharing, chatting, and broadcasting events like podcasts.

You can use the product to broadcast to the entire world free of cost. It offers integration capabilities, including Google APIs that allow data sharing between applications, such as Microsoft applications fetching data from Google Drive and vice versa.

It is highly available with 99.99% uptime. You can access it from any device, whether it's Windows, Mac, Linux, or Android. Your data is 100% secure unless you make a mistake. It effectively allows team collaboration.

Suppose you are a small company with less than ten people. You can start with the Google Starter Edition. It allows you to have a single email ID with good control and administrative capabilities. For example, you can add more people from your organization as admins and have your email domain.

If your company is xyz.com, you can set up an organization with the domain xyz.com and create an admin ID, such as admin@xyz.com. You can add as many users as needed, but you must pay for each. The cheapest subscription for the Google Starter Edition is around 300 INR.

The tool has integration capabilities through its Google APIs. Documentation is available to help with the integration process, making it feasible for anyone who wants to integrate their applications with Google Drive Enterprise.

You can enjoy many benefits with the tool. First, setting up your enterprise account in Google Drive Enterprise is very easy. It's easy. Second, you can add as many users as you want at any time, day, or anywhere from any device. Third, you can create teams and collaborate with them. Sharing documents is so easy; it's like a click of a second. You are able to share it with anyone. You can put a lot of restrictions on the user itself, ensuring certain users should not be able to access a document.

You can collaborate with users using Google Chat and Google Meet. Their calendar services are also very good, with a lot of customization available. As a small or big organization, Google Drive Enterprise fits everywhere.

What needs improvement?

In India, the basic 15 GB subscription is free. Various paid editions are available. One allows you to continue using your Gmail ID, like vishal@gmail.com, and you can upgrade your storage to terabytes. However, this option does not offer much control. The tool becomes slightly costly as you move up tiers.

The storage space customization is limited, starting with 2GB and jumping significantly higher without intermediate options. Learning to use the admin console can be complex and overwhelming for some users. Additionally, the subscription payment method could be simpler, as updating payment details can be challenging if a credit card expires. For simple users, Gmail is fine, but business users often require more control.

The Google documentation isn't very user-friendly. It's mostly text with no graphics or diagrams. Improving the documentation would be beneficial.

The scalability options for Google Suite are limited. As a user, you may want to scale your storage capacity and the space used for data. Google offers limited options for this, and at some point, you may need to contact their sales team to discuss and meet your specific storage requirements. Additionally, Google India's customer care is not very prompt.

Google's support is quite limited. Initially, they encourage you to use their list of frequently occurring issues to find solutions. If your issue isn't listed, you must proceed to chat support. Transitioning from chat to a phone call is difficult, as there is no direct option to call them.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten. It is highly stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Around 300 users in my organization use Google. I have several Google accounts, including a free one and a paid enterprise-level subscription.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is very straightforward. You log in to Google, go to Gmail.com, and select the option to create a new user. During the setup, you'll choose a specific domain name for your email. Domain names are managed by registrars, which ensures unique website names. If the name you want is not available, Google will suggest alternative options. It is easy for anyone who can read and understand English.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

In the free subscription, Google Drive Enterprise provides limited integrations. You get basic integration features, but for more extensive API usage, a paid subscription is required. Even with the paid subscription, there are limits on free API usage, such as a certain number of calls per day or month.

What other advice do I have?

I rate the overall product an eight out of ten. I highly recommend Google Drive Enterprise due to its numerous advanced features, which are more extensive than those of Microsoft Office 365.

For organizations considering Google Drive Enterprise, I'd recommend starting with the business starter edition to gauge its usefulness. If it proves beneficial, they can then upgrade to higher product versions. However, it's important to note that once upgraded, there's no option to downgrade to a previous version, which could be a limitation.

A safe and easy online repository with a nice web interface for file management
Pros and Cons
  • "The ability to simultaneously edit files is really useful."
  • "The product’s document management and automation features are very limited."

What is our primary use case?

Google Drive is a safe and easy online repository with a nice web interface for file management. It has some extra benefits over a network folder because it has automatic version control and collaboration features.

How has it helped my organization?

If we have a bunch of users with Microsoft Word documents or Excel files, it's not always easy to collaborate on a single file together. If we put it in Google Drive, we can all access it simultaneously and make edits and changes. We can put tags on the files and do a little bit of automation with the basic enterprise version, which is nice. They help to find things that are related to projects.

What is most valuable?

The ability to simultaneously edit files is really useful. Automatic version control is also valuable. I have never seen a security problem on Google Docs. It is easy to access. Security is built into the tool. We don't have to worry about it so much. I haven't integrated Google Drive, but it's easy to access from other applications like Jira and Confluence. The product is really easy to understand and use.

What needs improvement?

The web interface is a pain to access compared to the Windows application. However, the Windows application doesn't have any of the advanced features of the web interface, like tagging and SafeSearch. The Windows application should have the same features as the web application. The integration of Google Drive with other things could probably be better. The product’s document management and automation features are very limited. If you're a big organization, it will become a big mess very quickly.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for a couple of years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The tool’s stability is almost perfect. I've only had a problem once.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The tool’s scalability seems unlimited. I've never had a problem with it. I rate the scalability a ten out of ten. We have 6000 users. In my previous organization, we had 50,000 users. The solution is used every day.

How was the initial setup?

I have deployed it at a university before. It took less than a week to deploy after we got the basic training.

What was our ROI?

The ROI is extremely good because we don't have to worry about backups, and the security is very high.

What other advice do I have?

I've never had any issues to complain about, and I don't do the administration. I don't have any experience with support. It's a great replacement for your network drive. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Ensures availability and easy retrieval of data but does not provide a seamless experience
Pros and Cons
  • "Google Drive provides a guarantee that I can retrieve my data anytime."
  • "The product does not support certain formats."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution for my backups. It is integrated into my local system. I use the tool predominantly to back up my photos.

What is most valuable?

The product ensures availability. If I have to take a backup on a hard disk, it is at risk of getting corrupted. Google Drive provides a guarantee that I can retrieve my data anytime.

What needs improvement?

The product does not support certain formats. My photographs are HEIC files. I tried uploading it, but it did not work. I don't get the required quality when I upload and download the photographs. The product does not provide a seamless experience. It is not integrated well compared to iOS.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for the last five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the tool’s stability a six or seven out of ten. It does not support some formats.

How was the initial setup?

The setup is okay. The product is cloud-based.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I pay a monthly subscription for the product. The tool is a bit expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We use Amazon S3 for projects and tasks. We have a tie-up with Microsoft. So, for our corporate needs, we use OneDrive. I also use the ecosystem available on my iPhone. I chose Google Drive due to its cost.

What other advice do I have?

The vendor does not propagate the savings to the end users. We must use the storage solution that is provided by the platform we use. If not, we will face challenges with interoperability and seamlessness between the devices. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Enables easy storage, access, and retrieval of data and allows users to store data for a long period
Pros and Cons
  • "I can easily access my data and see my videos on Google Drive."
  • "The tool must provide more storage capacity."

What is our primary use case?

I use the solution to store some critical training documents.

What is most valuable?

I can store and share documents. If someone wants my training videos, I share them using Google Drive. I can easily access my data and see my videos on Google Drive.

What needs improvement?

The tool must provide more storage capacity. Nowadays, 15 GB is not enough. Some people create another account to use more storage. However, it would be helpful if the vendor increased the storage for individual accounts.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for quite some time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is good.

How was the initial setup?

The deployment is straightforward. It is a cloud-based product.

What was our ROI?

We can store the data forever. We can retrieve it whenever we want. Google Drive is a good place to store data.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use the free version.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I also use Amazon S3. Google is open-sourced. I do not know how secure Google is. Amazon S3 is secure. Some people use Google as their official email ID and storage solution.

What other advice do I have?

The tool moved from the email attachment to the Google Drive attachment. Everything goes via Google Drive. My organization has blocked our access to Google Drive. I use it on my laptop. I give training to people. I have a knowledge base. I store it on Google Drive. I will recommend the solution to others. People might not pay for the product unless it is needed for official purposes.

Overall, I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

Convenient to share, document and collaborate with others but it could enhance look and feel of the folders
Pros and Cons
  • "It's very convenient for me. I used to work in a corporate setting with shared servers and workspaces."
  • "If somebody has made changes, for example, there should be a timestamp. Also, if two or three people are working and someone deletes something, a mechanism to retrieve the previous version should be available."

What is our primary use case?

I use it for my daily activities. I'm an entrepreneur, so I use it to document my work and collaborate with others. I'm running a small setup, so we don't have a server or file-sharing service. I use Google Drive for file sharing, documentation, and collaborative work.

How has it helped my organization?

File sharing and shared workspaces are good features.

What is most valuable?

It's very convenient for me. I used to work in a corporate setting with shared servers and workspaces. For small setups like mine, it's very easy to use. Even some of my customers use G Suite for their work.

What needs improvement?

In terms of sharing, maybe a few more options would be great. Now, there are options like "read-only," but maybe having something like a timestamp would be helpful. There could be some more elaborate options.

If somebody has made changes, for example, there should be a timestamp. Also, if two or three people are working and someone deletes something, a mechanism to retrieve the previous version should be available.

Sometimes, I feel that the Google Workspace doesn't have all the same shortcut keys compared to my desktop Excel. For example, file format options like copy-pasting formats don't work the same way. But if there were a similar shortcut for Google Docs, it would be easier to use.

In future releases, if there were more color options for folders, that would be good. It could enhance the look and feel. Also, maybe there could be more elaborate options for file-sharing permissions, like a timestamp.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using it for a long time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I haven't faced any downtime issues. I would rate the stability a ten out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

I didn't ask for any support, but my client, who is using G Suite, did. We approached them for support, and it was good. There was downtime for G Suite once in a year or two, and it happened globally. But we trust that Google will fix it sooner or later.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

For my regular personal activities or my job, I'm using Microsoft documents. But I've been using Google Docs extensively the last few months because I have to collaborate with my teammates. It's very convenient for me.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is very easy. Google is not complex, and it's very easy to use. That's the reason we are still using it.

What was our ROI?

It is valuable for me because my personal email, my personal data, everything is in Google. It is the most commonly used email platform for personal use. Within my circle, as a parent, my kids also use Google.

For parental control, Google Drive should have more options. I also use it to some extent for parental control, like for browser usage. It can be more advanced.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I pay for the additional storage. Otherwise, it's free as a basic plan, 15 GB. When my storage is beyond that limit, I pay for it. Otherwise, it's completely free.

What other advice do I have?

It is convenient for me, and based on my experience, it is perfect.

Overall, I would rate it a seven out of ten. Google Drive can provide a walk-through about the capabilities, that will be good. I know there are many YouTube videos, and everything is available, but a basic walk-through might be good.

I am always concerned about retrieving lost data, especially when collaborating.

A tool to store and access files that offers good performance and stability to its users
Pros and Cons
  • "Google Drive Enterprise is a good product, and it is easy to use."
  • "Security is the only area where there are certain shortcomings in the product where improvements are required."

What is our primary use case?

Google Drive Enterprise is a good product, and it is easy to use. With Google Drive Enterprise, users can have access to their files anywhere in the world.

I use Google Drive Enterprise in my company so that I can use my files anywhere, and I always have access to my files. With Google Drive Enterprise, it is easy to have extra storage.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it provides good performance and stability. The tool is secure enough to use since you can use extra protection to use it on your phone.

What needs improvement?

It is always possible to offer better protection and improve the protection rate that the product offers its users. The security part of the product may not be very important for me since I only use it for my files. I want my files to be protected.

Security is the only area where there are certain shortcomings in the product where improvements are required.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Drive Enterprise for a long time.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.

I use it for my private files at my home.

How was the initial setup?

The product's initial setup phase was straightforward because it's a Google product, meaning it is also integrated with Google's system.

The solution is deployed on the cloud.

For the deployment process, you have to create an account, and once you have an account, you can access your Google Drive and Google Mail.

What about the implementation team?

I installed the product in my company.

What was our ROI?

I have seen benefits from using the product.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is available for free.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Around 15 to 20 years ago, I evaluated Dropbox against Google Drive Enterprise.

What other advice do I have?

If you like storing your files and data in Google's system, you can access them from anywhere, which is a nice thing to have because you will always have your files while Google takes care of updating the backup it provides.

I recommend the product to those who plan to use it. With the product, it is easy to backup and store your files and data, apart from which I don't use it for anything else.

I rate the overall product a ten out of ten.

A stable tool that offers the ability to maintain privacy while sharing files or folders of critical nature
Pros and Cons
  • "It is a stable solution, and I have never faced any issues with the product...It is a scalable solution since one can get as much as one needs from the product."
  • "The product lacks in the area of documentation."

What is our primary use case?

In my company, we use Google Chrome with Google Drive Enterprise. My company has been using services from Google, and we specifically rely on Google as our email service provider. We rely on Google when there is an expansion in the company's data.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the solution are its ability to keep and maintain the company's critical data while allowing it to maintain privacy while sharing files or folders.

What needs improvement?

In Google Drive Enterprise, Google Chrome's interface is currently cloud-based, but I feel it should have some desktop and mobile applications that don't depend so much on the cloud, which might make it faster.

The product lacks in the area of documentation. I use tools provided by Microsoft Office, and I feel Google needs to provide some documentation similar to what Microsoft provides to its users.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Google Drive Enterprise for a few years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is a stable solution, and I have never faced any issues with the product.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is a scalable solution since one can get as much as one needs from the product. Regarding the product's scalability, one can subscribe to get a larger capacity and pay for it.

How was the initial setup?

The solution is deployed on the cloud. My company has its own local premises, servers, and infrastructure, but Google is more suitable as a cloud-sharing solution, especially when handling critical data and when one has no access to local premises via VPN to handle less critical information, like sales material and data sheets.

There is no time taken to deploy the product since it is already integrated into Google Chrome.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

My company had previously compared Google Drive Enterprise with Microsoft but decided to choose Google since Google's pricing was favorable for our company.

What other advice do I have?

I don't have any recommendations for those planning to use the solution since I am not a sophisticated user. I can say that the product has everything my company needs.

I rate the overall product an eight out of ten.

Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
