We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of our clients, a customer of IBM, rolled out and replaced their existing ECM system with FileNet. Their productivity has increased pretty dramatically.""There is a high degree of usability with this solution. It is highly compatible with our clients' and customers' work environments, making it easy to deploy and implement.""It saves our customers time by 30 to 40 percent by eliminating the time to process paper.""It provides good stability and scalability for huge enterprises as well.""The product is very stable.""One of the most valuable features is FileNet's ability to capture things from the stack, from e-mail, to scanning of Excel and Word. FileNet can also convert many types of files to PDFs very easily.""It has an excellent document storage repository, which is good at what it does.""FileNet is very user-friendly... We have business users using and it is quite friendly for them."

"Using M-Files means anybody on the executive team to go in and immediately look at a dashboard and know the status of a contract."

More M-Files Pros →

"Image management is great since the search is simple, and accessing images with labels is easy.""It's pretty easy to learn. Once someone taught me, I was able to navigate it quite easily.""Ability to share documents.""Being able to use OneDrive as a mapped drive in Windows Explorer is the most valuable feature. Rather than using OneDrive on a browser, you can also open up the Windows Explorer and I can see the file structure in the normal format.""The stability of Microsoft OneDrive is very good, it is reliable. There were multiple instances where I had lost my valuable data on hard drives in several other places. However, with Microsoft OneDrive, I've never lost a single file.""It is free if you use Microsoft Office 365.""It is simple to use and it allows me to give me the opportunity to access anything I want from any device.""The backup capability is one feature I love about OneDrive. I also like how it syncs when you're working offline. Everything is updated once you connect again."

Cons
"However, the configuration does take a long time. Every company needs its own configuration design. It depends on how many applications are connecting to FileNet. It can take a long time, depending on the application count.""I'd like to see more cognitive. That's obviously where all of our world is going. I think if we can have more of those types of features and functions as a core, out of the box, that would be very helpful for us and our space.""It would be nice to have additional integration features, which could be integration with IoOT-based products and solutions that also have automation requirements on the IOT side. Anything can be integrated from a Gateway or API perspective would be a plus.""IBM has a lot of documentation but the kind of information in a lot of the documents can be confusing to our clients. It would be easier if they used video tutorials. Right now, the information is too hard to understand, and there is a lot of it. If they used videos I think FinalNet would be easy to use for an end-user.""Currently, our primary ERP system is SAP S/4HANA. Despite this, we have encountered difficulties integrating the solution with it, which remains an unresolved challenge for our team.""If I had a concern, it would be that we are sometimes not getting to the root cause of the issues from a technical standpoint as quickly as we should. For the most part, it's good. However, when things get a bit dicey with more involved issues, we have had some delays in getting feedback. If I had a concern, it's around the technical support and their responses in regards to things like root cause analysis.""It was complex. There were a lot of dependencies depending on the product. It had to be compatible with the Windows matching.""I would like to see expanded search features, like content search."

More IBM FileNet Cons →

"The integration with other products needs to be improved."

More M-Files Cons →

"The user interface could be a little more intuitive.""I think it should be more user-friendly with more tutorials on the full scale of the program.""OneDrive is a bit behind competing products like Dropbox and Box.""Performance is an issue when sharing a large number of files in a single folder.""The file structure insight could be made more flexible like for creating more flexible folders.""The initial setup is a bit clunky.""The website could be improved. Sometimes I try to login and the website has issues, I can't retrieve my documents.""Technical support is not very impressive and is typical of large company software support."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The biggest issue is the cost of the FileNet, because the license cost is very high. If a customer doesn't have good technical guides that are aware of the license calculation, they will pay too much. FileNet's license calculation depends on the processor and number of users. So my advice to a new customer is to be very careful with your calculations before purchasing FileNet."
  • "It is still a leading ECM solution provider, however the cost to implement and maintain are higher than other solutions."
  • "FileNet is not cheap, but you absolutely get what you pay for. "
  • "For small scale industries, they allow different options. They can do open source. It is the complexity of the data security that they should think about before they choose."
  • "For the medium scale or large scale, I would recommend FileNet. FileNet is free of licensing expenses, thus good for the money. It is not expensive, but worth for the money, especially for medium scale and large scale industries."
  • "There are lots of components to the product. Make sure before you invest that you know which components you need."
  • "1. It will be more expensive than estimated to setup. 2. You will need to double the staff while you are running the old system and installing the new system. 3. Depending on the number of documents to be migrated, make sure you understand the potentially massive amount of time and effort required to migrate the existing content to the new platform."
  • "The physical space that we have gained back pays for the service. Therefore, it has reduced our operating costs overall. We have definitely seen ROI. I would estimate $30,000 a year."

  • "They have an Optical Character Scanning module but we didn't buy it because it's ridiculously expensive."
  • More M-Files Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "Costwise, it is a great option. In most cases, it is a free space, which will be more than enough for most customers."
  • "Using this software, it has had an amazing impact moneywise on our business. It allows us to share documents without the need of extra hardware."
  • "We pay a lot for the Enterprise version, but it is a premium service."
  • "OneDrive comes with Microsoft 365 so it is just an added part of that package."
  • "It is free if you are using Office 365, and you get a terabyte of storage with your account."
  • "This is a pricy solution, given that we are only using it at 50% capacity."
  • "The price of Microsoft OneDrive is reasonable and compatible with competitors."
  • "The licensing is expensive and on a yearly basis."
