WebSphere Architect at a tech services company with 51-200 employees
Easy to install and configure, permission matrix is present. Recommended for monitoring WMQ.
Excellent product, easy to install, easy to configure, permission matrix is present, extension capabilities like URL monitoring or testing.
The latest version has a real nice display change and excellent set up for your very own customized Dashboard (2016)
Graphing capabilities are not top notch yet but product support is responsive to your needs.
Deployment and support: Excellent
Looked at the product for monitoring WMQ and I would recommend it.

MQ Admin at a financial services firm with 501-1,000 employees
Ability to monitor all types of middleware (ESB, MQ, Web Services, URL). User Interface is somewhat plain.
Our organization has been using Infrared360 for almost 2 years now. I have been very happy with this product so I decided to post my experiences with it. Our environment consists of z/OS, Linux, AIX and Windows hardware. Our middleware infrastructure consists of Websphere ESB, MQ Series, WAS and numerous web services. Specifically our MQ infrastructure is comprised of clustered multi-instance queue managers and Message Brokers, pub/sub.
When our organization decided to look at other middleware management tools we decided to look at agentless solutions. I have been working with agent based for over 10 years from various vendors and I can sum up my reasons for not wanting them:
Prolonged deployment cycles
Dependency on the underlying OS.
New release of Agent required to take advantage of new features in middleware software
Agents can introduce another point of failure.
Proprietary solution.
So far the product has exceeded our expectations. We are able to monitor ALL of our middleware (URL,webservices, MQ series) with a single tool. I also like the fact that it is built on open standard components. We use Tomcat as the app server for Infrared360. No licensing costs for Tomcat. Free is good! The product offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to rule creation. We use custom alerts which requires in house java code to be executed. This was a snap with Infrared360.
Deployment is very easy and much less time consuming. This is a BIG plus. What took 4 people one month each can now be done by one person within a week. This was a major factor in our purchasing decision. Our middleware team has a lot more time to focus on the middleware infrastructure instead of testing. From a soft cost perspective we are saving a good deal of money.
The support we have received from Avada has been nothing short of superlative. No matter what problem you are trying to solve they are there every step of the way. This was just as important as the product itself. Best support experience I have ever had.
The only negative is the user interface. It is not hard to learn, but it doesn't have polished visual graphics, no pretty bells and whistles. Not a major shortcoming but definitely an area for improvement. I feel that what it doesn't have in graphics it more than makes up for in functionality.

Architect at a financial services firm with 10,001+ employees
The product has been excellent, stable and support is top notch
Infrared360 was installed about 3 years ago, and the product has been excellent. We use it to delegate to our app teams "development" access to Dev environments and "viewer" access to Prod environments. In addition, we use it to monitor all our Prod MQ objects, and create tickets to our TOC via HP Service Manager when an alert occurs. The product is very stable and support has been top notch...

What I noticed at Infrared360 is that it is agent-less technology that does not require software to be installed on the machine.Infrared360 is a single server installation that runs on a J2EE stadards based application server such as Tomcat. Another pro is that Infrared360 uses an internet browser, for example Firefox, as its client, so no specific plug-ins are required. Infrared360 is a service based architecture where the consumption of services, for example web services, java services and system services, is as simple as a click of a button. I also enjoyed their technical support center.
Engineer with 1,001-5,000 employees
Easy to deploy, add users, and migrate. Extremely responsive to all of our questions.
We were one of the first to use Infrared360 and from a customer service standpoint, we still feel like their only customer because they are extremely responsive to all of our questions, issues, and enhancement requests. Having had extensive experience in management and monitoring solutions, I can tell you what I REALLY love about Infrared360:
1. It is EASY to deploy and I don't have to deal with any agents or code on each server running a qmgr or web server that I want to monitor and manage.
2. It is EASY for me to add users and to control what they have access to and what level of access they have to any given environment or object.
3. I have migrated the server to 3 different web server platforms because of changes in our enterprise. The migrations were always easy to accomplish and Avada support has been with us every step of the way.
4. It is EASY to update server releases, whether interim releases or full releases. I have been thru 2 full release upgrades and they were relatively pain free and introduced additional value and functionality that made it well worth the effort.
5. We were able to LDAP enable our Infrared360 login with very little trouble. Again, Avada support worked with us every step of the way to make sure we got things working the way we needed to.
6. No end user client installs. Being able to use your favorite web browser is a big plus and I don't have to worry about installing and maintaining 120+ desktops so that our developers, testers and administrators can access their MQ environments in a meaningful and secure way.

I like Infrared360's platform independence, the fact that it is 100% web compliant and it can support external services like LDAP, Web Services, Java Services, Alert Services, databases and other messaging services. Infrared360 can be accessed from any location via web browser without applets or servlets. Regarding security, the user can access all permitted platforms using a single user ID. It provides complete historic audit trail and the user can see only what he is permitted to see and do only what he is permitted to do.
