Pros
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that the tool's reporting is very good.""The scheduling feature is the most useful.""It's stable and reliable.""Technical support is good.""The ability to look at the resource loading is most valuable.""The solution, overall, is excellent for project planning.""The solution has easy integration with Excel.""The most valuable features are the gantt charts. It's easy to use for me."

"The data provided by PPM is trusted and is available almost immediately; without trusted data there is very less scope of any tool to be successful.""I like the ease of customization from an admin perspective. I'm really excited about some of the things that are coming in version 10.0.3 as far as what admins are able to do.""It is very important that the platform gives us a single place where we can measure progress toward goals, as we have weekly meetings with the CTO. We present these consolidated overviews and dashboards to him so that he has an overview of all the projects and can see the status of all the problems that we have and we are working on.""The portfolio management and the resource management are the key features.""Scenario comparison is the feature most valuable to us and the reason why we decided to choose HPE PPM over other portfolio management products.""Has a powerful workflow engine that allows creation of workflow complexities and processes.""Resource management: The resource management module is very complete and covers most of the time all needs of customers.""Micro Focus Project and Portfolio Management (PPM) has a very strong workflow engine."

"I like the user interface's graphics and the general features and functionalities.""Projects do not take as long and meetings take less time, since you know the status of developments or tests.""Our teams deployed Trello to gain a comprehensive overview of pre-sales activity, monitor project progress, create detailed task lists, and track action items - all critical components for streamlining our organization's operations.""It can be used online or as an application from anywhere.""The most valuable features of the solution are that it is easy to use and flexible while offering the ease of use of drag-and-drop functionality for each task.""The most valuable features of the solution revolve around the mobile version of the product that was easy to use.""It helped us to organize project information and assign tasks to team members properly.""It offers a very solid service alongside its innovative features and capabilities."

Cons
"It would be useful if the solution allowed us to share files or project schedules. You may get that with the cloud version. However, it's not available on the on-premises versions.""It has to be more user-friendly. For instance, there should be some assistance, like when you go to certain sites, people pop up and say, "Can we help you? What are you looking for?" It's not interactive enough.""We think that calculations are not working correctly, and there is a need to enter data a couple of times in order to give the correct calculations.""Collaboration within the tool is lacking when you compare it to online or cloud-based tools.""The solution's desktop version is not compatible with the MacBook.""This solution could improve by adding integration with Primavera schedules to allow the reading and management of them.""It may be considered expensive.""When we started using this solution from scratch, we got lost. Microsoft should provide some templates for configurations for certain use cases."

More Microsoft Project Server Cons →

"Sometimes features in PPM don't work as expected, or our users request a new feature. Typically, our partner vendor can deploy those changes. But there have been a few instances when we had to raise it with Micro Focus because it's beyond the ability of our partner vendor. When we raise the issue with Micro Focus, it sometimes takes time because it needs support from other customers using PPM, not just our bank. It goes through a voting system. Other customers need to vote for the feature. The features that get the most votes will possibly be added.""Portfolio scenarios: This is a very powerful feature. However, it’s limited to analyses.""Currently, HPE PPM does not allow “Project” approval, but only simple “Demand Request” approval (mobility).""We had a couple of issues with stability or performance degradation about a year ago, around the time of the initial rollout. Since then, we've only had two unexpected outages that were quickly resolved.""User interface continues to be poor. The product does not have a similar view in the different modules, e.g., staffing vs financial management, it looks like you are working with a different product and it is not easy to use or intuitive.""They can make its UI better. Currently, the UI is a bit clunky.""I was not involved in the initial setup. I know that the project involved a lot of consulting that took a long time.""I would also like to see improvement in PPM's reporting and alerts. PPM has reporting capabilities, including HTML reports and portlets. But a majority of clients will build their own reporting platforms, or they will use external reporting platforms like Tableau and QlikView."

"It's really simple, which is a good thing, but it only does one thing for us.""The solution could be priced cheaper.""The tool should be able to predict the task completion dates based on the date assigned and sprint dates. It is also not commercial compared to competitors.""The mobile version of Trello can be improved upon.""Trello does not provide you with as many functionalities as Jira and various third-party integrations provided by these different platforms.""The hardware configuration is limited.""Sometimes, I find it challenging to manage the checklists.""Although it has many useful features, the one thing I don't like about Trello is that it constantly sends out unimportant notifications."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "I think they need more flexibility with licensing, because there are preconceived ideas that don't allow as much flexibility with the various licenses."
  • "The licensing was procured before my involvement."
  • "It has features that cannot be bought by other rivals, so cost does not matter."
  • "It is on the expensive side."
  • "There is a licensing cost."
  • "There is an annual license required for this solution."
  • "I cannot comment on the price as I was not responsible for purchasing the solution."
  • "I'm not quite sure about the licensing costs. We're probably paying somewhere in the neighborhood of about 80,000 to 90,000 a year for our current on-prem because we handle our own licensing. As far as Project Online is concerned, we're still trying to get a good handle on that. It looks like it is going to be in a neighborhood of about 120,000 to 150,000 a year, but we're getting a lot more capability out of it."

  • "Support and license management are two hurdles for us. Every time we purchase new licenses, it has taken us half a year to implement those."
  • "It is SaaS without a base fee."
  • "HPE PPM SaaS model is comprehensive, however, the base fee component has customer resistance to its recurring setup,"
  • "Now, we also received an increase in the support license prices, without any advanced notice. At this point, switching to unify all our licensing under HPE and customer support has been poor."
  • "We have an annual license, and it is fairly priced in comparison to that of other solutions."
  • "A large organization will find Micro Focus PPM affordable, but it may be a bit costly for a small or medium-sized company. The license is based on the number of users."

  • "Maybe it would be better if they offered some extra tiers, so you don't have to go all the way up to the pro level."
  • "I use the free version of Trello, which is sufficient for my day to day use."
  • "I am tinkering with the free version."
  • "The free version of Trello covers all of the bases and all of our needs, so there's no cost involved for us. This is surprising for such a quality platform with no limitations on the key functionalities, though it also has a paid version."
  • "Its pricing is good. It is about $6 per license for what we use, but then there are other plans as well, such as $12 a month. I would rate it a nine out of ten in terms of pricing."
  • "The pricing for this solution is reasonable."
  • "We are currently using the open-source option."
  • "Paying for the solution's license is worth it only if our enterprise or organization can use Trello, integrated with some other solution, and we can have good reports."
