We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of the solution is the amount of space allotted to each user that is issued a subscription.""It's pretty easy to learn. Once someone taught me, I was able to navigate it quite easily.""One of the good features is that the users are not even aware that they're using it.""It's quite easy to use and then of course it is quite well integrated to the rest of Office 365.""The most valuable feature is to be able to modify the file online and keep it stored on the cloud, since it is not necessary to download it to make modifications.""It is simple to use and it allows me to give me the opportunity to access anything I want from any device.""It helps you keep organized.""The backup capability is one feature I love about OneDrive. I also like how it syncs when you're working offline. Everything is updated once you connect again."

More Microsoft OneDrive Pros →

"I did not face issues with the product's scalability...The solution's technical support is good.""The tool's implementation has made life easier for customers. It is sold by SAP. The integration between SAP and the solution is good, making it easy to access the documents. It is widely recognized as a market leader in enterprise document management.""An advantage is integration with your IP directory.""The product can be integrated with different solutions.""It has a robust search but has often been difficult for people to learn.""We like how the solution allows us to have retention of records and workflows, as well as its fire plan."

More OpenText Content Manager Pros →

"For any organization with more than one person in it, if they are trying to organize things to let people in the company know what others are doing, then this solution is good for them.""The most valuable feature is the ability to easily build intranet sites for communicating within teams, storing documentation, product information, pricing policies, updates on product infrastructure, and other related news.""The most valuable features are the collaboration and sharing.""The online editing capabilities, file sharing, auditing, information security, ease of solution management, and the easy user adaptation to the platform are the most valuable features.""It is very stable.""It is well supported by Microsoft.""It has helped us with storing all the documents, which means that people are not going to intervene. There is a way of extracting knowledge within documentation and tracking it. There are knowledge assets for where documentation is stored, indexed and searchable through SharePoint.""The most valuable features are the Integrations, web site, and search."

Cons
"Support has not been the same since the beginning of COVID lockdowns.""It takes too long for OneDrive to synchronize various applications, especially when you are saving office data. It also requires too much bandwidth.""Recent functionality changes have actually made the product more confusing to use.""An online video player would be great, since sometimes you have to download the video to play it.""I would advice not storage sensitive information since it could be prone to hacking.""There are not enough ways to assign permissions to shared folders and files.""The scalability has room for improvement.""The user interface sometimes fails and when it cannot connect, it does not give the reason why."

More Microsoft OneDrive Cons →

"The product could improve its scalability.""Due to very limited use in the industry, vendor and contract support are hard to find.""OpenText Content Manager needs to improve its user interface. Its installation process is difficult and can be made easier.""The ease of use should be addressed.""The stability of the solution is an area of concern where improvements can be made.""Support could be enhanced. The first line of support consists of individuals who lack experience with some key aspects. When you create a support ticket, the time to resolve the issue may be prolonged because the first person may not understand the system or the solution."

More OpenText Content Manager Cons →

"Make it more intuitive.""Flexibility and extensibility, above everything, could be improved.""Document management and the ability to easily integrate single sign-on (SSO) are areas for improvement in SharePoint.""The support is the worst. It is bad when Microsoft support does not even know what to do and you have to tell them. Also, they take too long to solve a problem.""Emails stored now do not display metadata in native format.""There are some limitations on storage.""We would like more security features, like automating.""The initial setup process is not intuitive."

    Comparison Review

At Mediacurrent we often get requests to compare Drupal to other platforms used for intranet sites and social business platforms (like https://dev.twitter.com/ for example). This is often referred to as “Social Business Software”, which has grown in popularity in recent years. I decided to do a round-up of a couple of the more well known platforms and compare their products to Drupal. In this roundup we will be comparing Jive, Sharepoint and Drupal Commons. Drupal Commons is a popular distribution created by Acquia to compete with some of these other proprietary platforms. There are many other options out there, commercial and otherwise, to compare with Drupal but I want to focus on Jive and Sharepoint for a couple of reasons. I chose Jive because it is one of the leading competitors in this space in respect to market share. Next, I chose Sharepoint because I have some history with Sharepoint. This experience dates back to when I built www.adhe.edu with Sharepoint 2007 a few years ago. I subsequently wrote this blog entry about my experience shortly after joining Mediacurrent. This roundup will also act as a refresher for those who read my original “Drupal vs. Sharepoint” blog. Yammer, which was recently bought by Microsoft and is the tool we currently use for office communication will also get some mentions throughout this article. As I went through and tested each of these tools I used three main criteria in my evaluation Cost Ability to Customize Overall features… Read more →
