We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is reviewing tickets and the notes added by technicians.""The biggest aspect for us is that they are able to conform to our environment and utilize our tools. That way, we still maintain ownership of all the data and access to the applications, and we never lose control of the ability to run the solution ourselves if we need to.""Binary Defense has a human service department that provides live monitoring for our systems.""The most valuable features are the SIEM and the ticketing function; the latter is very smooth and easy to read and understand. We don't have any issues looking at the ticketing information when we're trying to identify what's going on.""Binary Defense's most valuable feature is the 24/7 monitoring and threat hunting. Their team checks the latest breaches and how they're done.""The speed at which their services are reactive is valuable. Nowadays, when a threat hits an endpoint, you've got minutes, not hours or days. Their average response time is about four minutes on an alert. For anything that needs to be sent to us, it's about fourteen minutes, which is pretty good. They're the third SOC that I've used in fifteen years. By far, they are the quickest ones to act. When you're looking at prevention, that's a key factor.""One of the main benefits of Binary Defense MDR is the ability to easily meet with their support team to discuss any issues we encounter.""The case interface is Binary Defense MDR's most valuable feature."

"It is easy to manage surveillance.""I appreciate the "set it and forget it" nature of Field Effect Covalence.""There are user notifications about our cloud solutions and access, meaning authentication and possible breaches. Overall, the notifications and alerts are valuable. There are also new features like the DNS protection, which is quite good.""The standout feature is its continuous 24/7 monitoring of all network traffic, providing unparalleled vigilance.""It's running in the background and does a packet-level analysis of everything that comes in. It also has an auto-response feature, so if something gets through and is clicked on, or somehow gets through the network, it gets isolated and quarantined, and we get notified.""I like how comprehensive Field Effect Covalence is.""It is very user-friendly. We have regular reports to see what is going on.""The most valuable features are Action Recommendations of Observations, which keep us informed about existing vulnerabilities so we can proactively update our endpoints and those of our customers against potential threats."

"Trend Micro Managed XDR has indeed enhanced our customers' threat detection capabilities. Many of our clients are utilizing it and have experienced positive outcomes. Overall, I would recommend it, especially considering the rising popularity of Trend Micro and its excellent product support.""The initial setup is very straightforward. CIOs appreciate the ease of installation, server configuration, and the user-friendly dashboard.""I appreciate the detection and response methodology used against virus and ransomware attacks.""The most valuable feature of Trend Micro Managed XDR is that it protects all of the layers.""The tool has significantly improved threat detection and response times for my clients' organizations. The solution has performed exceptionally well, and my customers are pleased with both the performance of the system and the support they receive."

Cons
"If I were shopping for an MDR solution today, I would not only look for a company that has the ability to alert, detect, and remediate, but also the ability to integrate vulnerability management. That's a big thing that they're lacking today.""I would like to get more reports from Binary Defense about what they're blocking.""It's sometimes difficult to know when to engage Binary Defense or TrustedSec, their sister company. TrustedSec is more focused on offensive security, as opposed to the defensive security that the MDR solution provides. It would be awesome if there were a better bridge between that relationship for when we need to get more proactive services or when we need to do a penetration test.""It's hard to think of anything that they need to improve on, but just to point out something, I would like to see them provide advanced XDR.""Binary Defense MDR could be even better with additional features, like automatic scans and file quarantine.""I would like to see more frequent check-ins with our security status.""The current reporting system could benefit from improvement.""We found that an earlier version of the agent had high memory usage and that was a bit concerning, but we raised the concern with their support team and they immediately replied that they had noticed the same thing and had a candidate fix already available... it totally fixed the issue."

"There are tags for security threats, but I only view them. I do not action anything. I just see what is happening. Sometimes, they are a little bit vague, and I am unsure what they mean, so I leave that to the IT experts. Overall, we are quite satisfied with their product and how it is working.""In the "Arrows" tab, if we encounter multiple duplicate recommendations, it would be helpful to be able to select and resolve or dismiss them all at once.""In terms of improvement, there are instances where the ARO responses are slightly slower than preferred.""The cost of the solution has room for improvement.""I'd like improved visibility into the backend data where logs are stored, along with integrations with a wider range of products.""Because this is a security solution, I would recommend that they extend their support hours, and perhaps for emergencies, even to 24/7 or 24/5.""I would like Covalence to include patching.""It would be more effective if it could surgically isolate the specific malicious process instead of deleting the entire machine."

More Field Effect Covalence Cons →

"The product could benefit from some improvements in its interface and organization. Functionality-wise, it performs well, but there's room for enhancement in terms of user-friendliness. There are ample resources like documents and videos provided by most vendors to assist users, although reaching out for direct support might not always be straightforward.""Being cost-effective is crucial, allowing customers with lower budgets to access the services. Offering a range of services at various price points ensures that customers can find suitable options without being compelled to explore alternative products or vendors.""There is a need for greater integration of non-Microsoft devices.""Trend Micro Managed XDR could improve its support documents. This would allow us to explore the solution better and provide a better presentation to our customers. Addiontaally, there could be more automation features.""The main drawback is the lack of local language support in Oman."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solution's price is spot on; if anything, it's slightly below the norm for most services. Compared to building the same team internally, it would cost more to create the same amount of capability than what we get from an external team. Price-wise, Binary Defense is in a great spot."
  • "From the initial cost that Binary Defense came in with, we pared it down quite a bit over the course of 30 or 60 days. My leadership would say that their cost was high, but realistically, they were in line with the market."
  • "The pricing is on target. Working with their sales team on pricing negotiations was a pleasant process. They were very respectful of the constraints we had and I feel that we're paying a fair price."
  • "It's valued at the right price. Even with the number of endpoints we have, we don't feel that it's a lot more than any competitor. In fact, it might be less expensive when you look at the fact that you're getting a full flex SOC out of it along with the tools."
  • "Binary Defense has changed its pricing model from being primarily based on the volume of data to one based on escalations and incidents they handle."
  • "Binary Defense MDR is priced competitively and may be slightly lower than CrowdStrike."
  • "After we acquired this platform, we met with a number of different vendors. Binary Defense came in with a proposal that was surprisingly affordable. In fact, we were able to recoup the cost of their services within a short period of time. This is because Binary Defense is able to provide the same level of security as a team of two or three in-house analysts but at a fraction of the cost. As a result, Binary Defense is saving us an estimated $250,000 to $300,000 per year."
  • "The pricing isn't that bad, it's very competitive. I don't feel that it's over-priced and I don't feel that it's under-priced."

  • "The cost of the solution is high."
  • "Covalence is cost-effective."
  • "We were particularly impressed with their pricing model, which charges per user rather than per system."
  • "Although Covalence is expensive, it provides good value for the price."
  • "The pricing is comparable to what else is out there."
  • "We're currently enrolled in the volume package, which offers tiered pricing based on usage."
  • "While Field Effect Covalence's pricing seems competitive for the market, the biggest hurdle lies in the lack of dedicated security budgets within many organizations."
  • "The licensing model itself is solid, but we're ironing out some inconsistencies in how customer profiles are configured."

  • "There is a subscription needed to use Trend Micro Managed XDR. We are on an annual license."
  • "The solution is cost-effective."
  • "I rate the tool's pricing a six out of ten."
  • "The solution's pricing falls within a reasonable range—it's not the most expensive option out there, nor the cheapest."
  • "Trend Micro's solutions are considerably more expensive than competitors."
