We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"RDM has enabled me to do most of my work in one place. This helps me be able to have an RDP session open to a server in one tab and an SSH session open to a VMware host in another.""Being able to aggregate all connections (RDP, FTP, SSH, VPN, etc.) in the same interface and make each server readily available in the same way, which lets me focus on the problem regardless of where it is.""The interface is great to work with as it allows multiple connections in a tabbed interface. It also has the option to automatically start a VPN or an SSH tunnel, if required.""It really helps to have all the data already pre-entered and all I have to do is enter the password.""The ability to have all the connection information in one location saves so much time from trying to manage the same information across different applications.""One credential can be used to access VPN, RDS, and more.""Allows us to configure limited access to resources with the security-based role feature (which we use for trainees and new employees)."""Inherited" function for credentials - Configure the desired credential at one (top) location, and use the Inherited function on all sub-connections that should use this credential."

"If an issue happens, we're able to log in at the time that it happens and address it , so there's minimal downtime.""The vendor's reliability provides me with peace of mind. Over the 10-plus years, we've literally had no issues with it going down or with it causing any problems or causing issues when our end-users are trying to get access to it.""The desktop sharing allows our clients to demonstrate the issue they are having, and then allows us to provide remediation directly.""The tech support person I spoke to was very knowledgeable about the product, and was straightforward with me about its capabilities. There was no fluff about the product. They basically said this is not available now and we're hoping to have it available in the third or fourth quarter. It was nice to talk to someone who was straightforward and knew about the product.""I tried different software out there and LogMeIn Rescue has the best compatibility. Something else might work, but you have conflict with so many networks. LogMeIn has the best ratio of almost 99% connection. Whereas, with some other software, you are lucky if you get 80%.""For people whose computers we maintain, we can have those computers on file. Without having somebody to invite us, we can actually log in automatically, and that’s unlimited.""The initial setup is easy. If you want the desktop program, you just download and install it.""It has a feature that, when you take over the machine, you can get into the system administrator level. We’re able to tweak things on the machine as if we’re sitting there."

"The product allows easy access to any system in case of any issues.""The product is quite stable. The performance is good.""TeamViewer is fast and easy to manipulate.""It's very easy to set up.""The solution is very stable. We've never had a problem with it.""The most valuable feature of TeamViewer is user-friendliness.""Our computers are spread amongst six physical locations. TeamViewer reduces the need to travel to those offices to help staff.""The solution is a very good tool for monitoring and for remote access. Anyone is able to use it, it is simple to use."

Cons
"On complex setups, I actually needed to reach out to support to get it working correctly.""Sometimes when updating, the install window is on top of the prompt to close the application.""If there was a way to streamline the process, it would make it nice.""Maybe some clipboard functions could be added along with integration of different software.""The RDM client (.NET issue, actually) can stall or lock up while it clears communication threads to the server.""The only complaint I have heard is there are too many updates. Each time there is an update (the app prompts to upgrade), it can be time consuming, especially when sometimes there are multiple updates per week.""The filing system of connections is a little clunky, but is completely functional.""There are always bugs to squash, beyond that, it is really kind of difficult for new users to discover and use many of the features due to the bewildering array of choices and ways to do things."

"I occasionally need to reboot my computer after using LogMeIn, due to an issue with IE. It stops responding to keyboard input every once in a while, after disconnecting from a session. A reboot resolves it.""Their ability to support mobile has been really problematic. I've seen other products that have done a better job in supporting mobile products. LogMeIn has just never been able to come up to par there, and that would be a detractor. They've been talking about supporting mobile for 10-plus years, and I really haven't seen any improvement on that.""I would like to see a mobile client that would work on an iPad, so I do not always have to be on a PC or a full-blown Mac operating system.""Support to remotely control more mobile devices' screens is desperately needed. It is sad to see how long this product has been out and how many phones are still not supported for, specifically, remote screen control.""The interface is not user-friendly. It looks a little outdated. I think the options are there. I think just the layout needs improvement.""Network browsing and connecting on the LAN, because if you can't see the computers on your network, what good is the product?""it needs better iOS integration. It's still limited in its functionality when it comes to iOS. Currently, when you do something other than iOS, you're not able to take control of what's going on; instead of having to tell the user, "Click here, click there," I would like to have full control over an iOS device.""I do wish there was an application to manage all of the admin properties of the subscription, rather than having to use the web portal."

More LogMeIn Rescue Cons →

"The product can sometimes crash.""Sometimes we'll have a device in the field, and I'll click on remote control and it says "Can't authenticate." I'll double click in a different part of the TeamViewer interface and it'll say "Can't authenticate." Then I'll do it a third time and it connects. It's possible that it's just bad luck. It's also very possible that it's some bug within TeamViewer...""The solution could be improved by enhancing the use of the mobile version to be used on phones.""The stability of TeamViewer is good, but it could be better.""The installation and the update agent could improve.""It's pretty limited on the options they have.""I don’t see any areas where improvement is needed.""There is a paid version of this solution with more features available. However, they should provide more free features to the user, such as factor authentication."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Setup costs for most people is negligible."
  • "The Free Edition is completely free. You can try also the Enterprise Edition for 30 days for free."
  • "If you are a Microsoft MVP, VMware vExpert, Cisco Champion, etc., Devolutions offers a free Enterprise License."
  • More Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The only downside is pricing. I think each technician license is somewhere around $100 or $120 a month now. So if you have a lot of technicians, it can get expensive, for a small business."
  • "It is on the medium to high side. For us, it is worth it. For the amount of time they save us, it pretty much pays for itself."
  • "Look at the different plans they have. Do not pay for a plan you do not need."
  • "The pricing is a little on the higher side, though."
  • "Pricing is reasonable and easily offsets other costs, while resolving issues in a much quicker timeframe."
  • "The cost of LogMeIn is high... I went with another product that was going to give me savings of 50%. One technician tested it, he gave us the thumbs up. Then once we moved all my technicians to it, but it didn’t work... Trying to move from LogMeIn hindered our performance and productivity and it was not worth the savings."
  • "It's definitely worth the value."
  • "The rescue model is licensed by user."
  • More LogMeIn Rescue Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "TeamViewer pricing is reasonable... The simultaneous controller licensing model of TeamViewer - compared to LogMeIn’s controlled Host licensing model - seems to benefit us so far. We’re currently saving about 30 percent on licensing cost... The savings from licensing have been eaten up by the soft costs involved in dealing with and working around TeamViewer’s deficiencies in allowing granular control by multiple controllers, and the issues with the various settings that are missing on the macOS Host."
  • "The cost of the licenses depends on how you buy them. They just had a buy one get one free deal going, and they do that every once in a while. Where you buy one license, and they will give you the second one free, or you can try to get discounts. Most of our licenses that we have we tried to do something like that just to save some money."
  • "It has probably saved us several thousands of dollars because we have quick access anywhere. We don't have to worry about finding people onsite or arranging conference calls. We also save time and money with it because we don't have to send somebody onsite to troubleshoot."
  • "TeamViewer offers a free version to try. Download and give it a shot. See what it's like and if you like it, then buy the license for it."
  • "...it will cost you $1,500 to $1,600 a year, but when I think of how much work I do through TeamViewer..."
  • "It does what I need it to do but I think it's expensive. It wasn't easy for me to get approval from the company to get it... It's costing us about $700 a year, per license."
  • "TeamViewer is $600 or $700 per port per year..."
  • "The cost is in the thousands of dollars per year."
