Provides valuable database-backed insights for operations teams, but there are issues with data sharding
Pros and Cons
  • "One of the reasons we have gone with UiPath is because it was a business decision and because our company subscribes to the UiPath automation suite, which includes RPA, etc. We thought it would be efficient to keep everything on the same platform."
  • "We faced issues with the data sharding process. UiPath has its own limitations in terms of the number of rules of data it can actually handle at a given point of time."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution to get deeper insights into the process and to see if there are any opportunities on how we can improve the processes. In most of the cases,  Process Mining would actually throw out analysis or insights which are already known to the users, but in some cases it would be more granular and backed with data.

Those database-backed insights are very valuable for the business partners or the operations teams. It allows them to make decisions about how they can improve their process, like whether there's any process changes or technology changes required. Do they need to change the workflow systems or the technology assets which they currently use? Is there a better way they can perform the work or is there any scope of automation? Are there any compliance issues which wouldn't have been visible to a human eye just by viewing the process or the reporting?

For process mining, we understand some of the hypotheses they have, like what is that they want to understand? Are they looking to gain insights around how their teams are performing? I think you gain value about how the process is overall behaving. Is there any kind of rework or are they looking at automating or redesigning their own process?

This is a hybrid solution.

What is most valuable?

One of the reasons we have gone with UiPath is because it was a business decision and because our company subscribes to the UiPath automation suite, which includes RPA, etc. We thought it would be efficient to keep everything on the same platform.

The cost was the other part of it because we compared it to Celonis. We are using UiPath mostly for strategic reasons. It was easy for us to get onboarded with Process Mining rather than setting up a whole new infrastructure for a different tool.

What needs improvement?

We faced issues with the data sharding process. UiPath has its own limitations in terms of the number of rules of data it can actually handle at a given point of time. As a tactical step, they provided the data sharding approach, but that was not the best. It kind of complicated the analysis rather than making it easy for people to analyze large data sets. So, the handling of large data sets is a major problem we want them to improve.

I think they can improve their overall feature set around the visualizations, which they can provide out-of-the-box. Some of these visualizations are not already there.

Finally, it is about the ETL process. I think the ETL process could have been much simpler compared to what we do right now, which consumes a lot of time. If I talk about a typical project life cycle, I would spend about 30% of the time getting the data into the system, which is obviously not ideal compared to some of the other tools we have in the market.

Their ability to create out-of-box integrations and solve for the ETL problems could be an improvement, and their ability to help us scale and do parallel processing when handling large data sets. They could also improve their overall look and feel on how the analytics will show up on the tool. They just do the job, but when I'm showing an analysis to a very senior leader, I would obviously want that to look better than how it does now. I'm not sure what the product roadmap looks like right now, but I'm sure they would have something on the product roadmap. If these are not already a part of the product roadmap to improve the product, then I think they would be missing the bus.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for seven and a half years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable. We haven't seen any issues.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We haven't seen any issues with scalability. The problem is with the handling of large data sets. If you're using smaller data sets, then I think it's good enough to manage parallel activities. But if I am working on a project with a large data set, that's where we would run into problems where the other projects would have to be stored or they cannot be run parallel. It's scalable, but they would need to solve for handling their data sets internally to allow parallel processing.

From a traditional process mining, they allow for everything a process mining or platform would need to give. But if we're talking about using this for other purposes like execution management, getting more automated data feeds, etc., I think that's where it would probably have a problem. When we're dealing with process mining, especially in a banking organization where we are dealing with millions of rows of data at a time, I think that's where we would probably want them to be able to scale or allow us to scale much faster on that.

I would rate the scalability 3 out of 5.

How are customer service and support?

We have a full subscription for technical support. We have on-demand support at all times.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

It's reasonable. It provides you with all the basic features that somebody would expect. If those basic features are what you're looking for, I think UiPath is reasonably priced compared to some of the other tools.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We compared the solution to Celonis. Celonis provides you with more out-of-the-box functionalities and drag-and-drop features which are user-friendly, and it has a very powerful execution management system, but that is something we weren't looking at because we wanted to familiarize the audience with what Process Mining can do before we moved to execution.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 5 out of 10.

It's good for doing traditional analysis, but if we have to do more, I think that's where they would lag behind their competitors.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

A flexible and adaptable solution
Pros and Cons
  • "The features of UiPath that I find most valuable was working with Abbyy scanning."
  • "UiPath could improve on how it works with the project management process and flow."

What is our primary use case?

I am a project manager and have been working on projects for UiPath with some of their clients. I was using the most recent version with our internal developers. The project was managed using Azure DevOps.

The teams I worked with would average between four and seven team members. It requires a couple of developers, a BA, a project manager and a scrum master.

UiPath is used for a variety of purposes such as, invoicing, automating, scanning documents, data collection, and data driven type of applications. There are more than one use case depending on what the client was trying to accomplish through automation. They were automating repetitive steps. We had commercial uses, government uses, financial services and investing uses.

What is most valuable?

The features of UiPath that I find most valuable was working with Abbyy scanning. We created some unique ways to work around any document that couldn't be scanned. It was very flexible. Whatever bug that was produced during use test cases, user acceptance testing, was very flexible. We did not find anything that could not be fixed. There was always a workaround or a way to create another process that could be automated.

Flexibility and the adaptability are very good with UiPath.

UiPath is always upgrading and fixing their product.

What needs improvement?

For me, the only improvement needed is how to manage the actual project. This does not have anything to do with the solution itself, it's about managing customer's expectations.

UiPath could improve on how it works with the project management process and flow.

I would like to see UiPath add an RPA that handles project management. I would  like to see the solution do as much as possible. There are so many turning wheels on a project that is complex.

For how long have I used the solution?

My company has been working with UiPath for about a year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution itself is stable. The challenging part is the developers themselves. It's still a new industry. People are still learning and sometimes people miss things.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

There are no problems with the solution scaling.

How are customer service and support?

UiPath's technical support is very responsive. The customer service desk is really good. I was impressed with how fast and capable they were.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup depends on the project. The deployment goes from simple to complex. I have taken a few courses, so the setup is very easy.

We require a couple of people for deployment  and maintenance of the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The product is affordable. It depends on if you are looking for some capabilities from time to time.

What other advice do I have?

My advice to anyone looking to implement UiPath in their organization would be to really take a look at what processes do the organization have that are highly repetitive and manual and  provide value.

This application is best for high value projects or high value initiatives. Automating something that doesn't matter is not worth it. Take a really hard look at the ROI of what you want to automate and see if it  makes sense, and focus on  the ones that generate the most ROI and value.

UiPath will handle the rest and do a very good job.

I would rate UiPath a 10 out of 10. Where the industry is at right  now, there is plenty of growth. Everyone is trying to better, but where we are at right now, UiPath is at the top. Having seen UiPath work on projects, the flexibility that it allows developers to fix bugs among other things, makes it a 10.

Top 10
A solution that works well with several smaller tools and helps its users automate important processes
Pros and Cons
  • "I rate the solution's initial setup a nine out of ten...I rate the solution a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is not stable and ten is stable."
  • "The solution's UI and UX could be made better."

What is our primary use case?

While we haven't extensively used the solution, our experience with the solution has been good, and we believe it has the potential to meet the needs of our other clients as well. Currently, we are utilizing UiPath Process Mining with several small solutions without facing any issues or hiccups.

One example of this is how we have automated the process of logging in to a website and checking the transaction status of our clients. Our firm specializes in chartered accountancy, which files tax returns and monitors the status of these filings for our clients. With the help of this solution, we ensure that our client's database is automatically synchronized with the login credentials for the respective websites. This allows for the automatic updating of the status of their income tax returns in Excel.

What needs improvement?

Since we haven't faced any hiccups or issues using the solution until now, I won't be able to provide any constructive feedback about the solution.

Regarding an area in the solution needing improvement, I want the interface to be better and easier. The solution's UI and UX could be made better.

For how long have I used the solution?

My company is a consulting firm, and we implement solutions for our customers. As a part of a business, we explored whether UiPath Process Mining would help any of our customers. So, even though we are not authorized partners, you can consider us in line with partners. Our organization has successfully implemented a solution to automate small manual processes for three or four clients. So, we haven't extensively used the solution. Also, we have been using the solution in our organization for the last two or three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate the solution a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is not stable and ten is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the solution an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is not scalable and ten is scalable.

Those using the solution are SMEs, better known as small and medium enterprises.

Only one user is using the solution.

How are customer service and support?

In our organization, we did not need to reach out to the solution's technical support team. Basically, I don't have any experience with customer support.

How was the initial setup?

I rate the solution's initial setup a nine out of ten.

Since it was a very simple solution we gave our clients, the deployment process took less than a couple of days for us.

Two business analysts from my team were involved in the deployment process.

What other advice do I have?

Overall, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

Provides AI center for document understanding
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the AI center for document understanding."
  • "The product could diversify into creating apps."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the AI center for document understanding.

What needs improvement?

The product could diversify into creating apps. For example, if you look at Power Automate, it's not just RPA. They also have applications. You can do low-code applications. They could add something that can help develop very small mobile and web applications, which is where the industry is going. So maybe UiPath can also follow suit.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about four years. We are an SI company, and we deploy UiPath for some of our clients.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's very stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable depending on how you deploy it. For UiPath Cloud, scalability is not an issue.

How are customer service and support?

We have a very good relationship with technical support. As a company, I belong to HCL, so we have a very good relationship with UiPath. Our experience with UiPath has always been very good.

What was our ROI?

The ROI is around 30% to 40%.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution 9 out of 10.

My advice is to try the new citizen developer. UiPath has also come up with a citizen developer suite. I'd recommend that. UiPath also has a test suite. We are experimenting with that now, but those are my two recommendations.

The product is very good, very stable, very scalable, and secure. The only reason I wouldn't give it a 10 is because most of the other products are going the low-code, no-code way for applications.

Helpful support, beneficial automation, and reasonably priced
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features of UiPath Process Mining are the ease of use, it's provided us with good indicators of which processes can be automated. There are lots of non-value-add activities which are being done that have helped us identify. If we apply lead principles we are receiving a lot of benefits without automating. You are actually getting a lot of benefits even without automating."
  • "UiPath Process Mining could improve by limiting the number of updates."

What is our primary use case?

We have deployed UiPath Process Mining mostly in banking systems. There are a lot of banks that we work with that do reconciliation, invoicing processes, and loan applications. We use UiPath Process Minings to automate in these areas.

We use UiPath Process Mining in many areas of our organization, such as our back office, HR, and payroll teams.

In India, the banks forbid the use of cloud solutions.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of UiPath Process Mining are the ease of use, it's provided us with good indicators of which processes can be automated. There are lots of non-value-add activities which are being done that have helped us identify. If we apply lead principles we are receiving a lot of benefits without automating. You are actually getting a lot of benefits even without automating.

We have automated 50 percent of our known processes which is good.

What needs improvement?

UiPath Process Mining could improve by limiting the number of updates.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath Process Mining for approximately two years.

How are customer service and support?

The support from UiPath Process Mining is good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The licenses are flexible, they start once they are activated. The license is purchased annually. The cost of the solution is very good compared to other similar solutions.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others.

I rate UiPath Process Mining a nine out of ten.

User-friendly, useful technical, and is easy to install
Pros and Cons
  • "It provides the visualization, the PI data, and all other information."
  • "While it is fairly stable, this is something that could be improved."

What is our primary use case?

UiPath is a platform that I use for automation in the enterprise.

I mine the process. In terms of Process Mining, I basically do the following: your SME can perform a process in a variety of ways. For example, let's say you call me and ask me a structured question. Consider the possibility that five of your coworkers are performing a similar task.

They may have their own way of asking questions or carrying out a specific procedure. Then, depending on the type of associate you have, the number of questions you ask. The Process Mining solution will essentially figure out what the process variations are. These variations have been identified. Also, if there are gaps where people may not be following a standard process correctly, those gaps will be remembered as well.

What is most valuable?

It provides the visualization, the PI data, and all other information.

What needs improvement?

I believe it is adequate. I don't think there is an issue with the tool.

While it is fairly stable, this is something that could be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath Process Mining for two years.

We are working with the latest version.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath Process Mining is fairly stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

iPath Process Mining is easily scalable.

The number of users varies from client to client. There are a number of clients.

How are customer service and support?

Technical support is very useful.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We use everything from Process Mining to RPA to OCR in UiPath. We use UiPath ProcessGold.

How was the initial setup?

It is straightforward to set up. Because it is cloud-based, all you need is the right subscription, account, and set up in your company to use it.

What was our ROI?

Yes, I have seen a return on investment. The ROI varies depending on the process, but it is really good.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Regarding the price, I'm not sure. My procurement team handles this, so I don't have to worry about it.

What other advice do I have?

I will undoubtedly use them because they are an excellent solution that I believe I should recommend to everyone. In fact, the entire UiPath suite is extremely user-friendly, which is why I consider it to be one of the best tools on the market.

I would rate UiPath Process Mining a nine out of ten.

Helps to automate intelligence for our customers, though document reading could be more accurate
Pros and Cons
  • "For us, the most important feature of UiPath Process Mining is something called Document Understanding. We have found it to be extremely valuable, given that the current situation we have right now is that it's not just pure automation of manual and repetitive tasks. What we're doing is more along the lines of what you could call "intelligent" automation. Document Understanding plays a great role in this type of process automation because it helps us in automating the reading of documents better and, therefore, helps to automate intelligence for our customers."
  • "Document Understanding can read up to a certain amount of accuracy. While I understand that they have already started working to improve that accuracy right now, I think the accuracy is still only around 85-90%. I would call that our main problem with UiPath currently."

What is our primary use case?

At my company, we use UiPath for almost everything, and not just process mining, which is what we call the discovery part of what we do. Our main use of UiPath Process Mining is as a tool within the field of RPA (Robotic Process Automation) that helps us with automating processes for our customers, where we will often also use UiPath Studio.

A major example of the work we do with UiPath includes automating management information systems for reporting purposes. So if we have to make a few reports, we will go with UiPath to create them. We have also used it for reconciliation, or what we used to call reconciliation until more recently. That is reconciliation between two banks, for instance. We also use UiPath for claims processing, LC (Letter of Credit) issuance, and more.

To date, our services company has automated over 200 processes for our customers using UiPath, all of which has been done by a team that spans over 65 professionals.

What is most valuable?

For us, the most important feature of UiPath Process Mining is something called Document Understanding. We have found it to be extremely valuable, given that the current situation we have right now is that it's not just pure automation of manual and repetitive tasks. What we're doing is more along the lines of what you could call "intelligent" automation. Document Understanding plays a great role in this type of process automation because it helps us in automating the reading of documents better and, therefore, helps to automate intelligence for our customers.

UiPath also has a certain dashboard called Insights that comes as a package where you can have analytics about how well the processes have performed. For example, if an automated process that runs at night stops midway for some reason, you can check the analytics to see why it stopped. It's a very beautiful analytics dashboard, too.

What needs improvement?

Document Understanding can read up to a certain amount of accuracy. While I understand that they have already started working to improve that accuracy right now, I think the accuracy is still only around 85-90%. I would call that our main problem with UiPath currently.

Then, in terms of process mining as a procedure, it only helps in terms of whatever processes have already been digitized. In this sense, what we find lacking is that at times when the file is a photograph, let's say a JPEG file, then because of its file type, UiPath's Document Understanding does not read it.

So we'll have a situation where people scan their documents in (or take a photo of the document) and send them across in an image file and not something like PDF, and in that case Document Understanding isn't very helpful.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using UiPath for the last four and a half years now.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is extremely stable. The processes which we automated a few years back are still running pretty well. As long as the processes do not change, it continues running the way it is.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The scalability is good. This is one of the aspects which lots of our type of customers look at. When people choose between various automation tools, they always look at the scalability part of it, and UiPath can be scaled up very quickly, especially when it comes to how many bots you can have and how many processes can be performed inside a single bot.

As for staff, we have 65 people working with it right now because we are a service provider. When we get additional customers, we need to have enough people who can start work with those customers right away. For example, we have a pretty big order right now from the Middle East, and we will require about 10-12 people who need to get started on this job. So we simply hired them and scaled up to match the demand.

Even though we have had opportunities to go along with Automation Anywhere and others, we have stuck with UiPath for the last four and a half years because of how easy it is to scale and implement. Because of this, I foresee that we will be with this product for the next several years at least.

How are customer service and support?

They have a 24/7 support service. And if I have a problem in implementing a particular solution, or I have a question which I need answered while I'm automating some processes, they usually reply within one to two hours. If it is extremely complex, I have seen them set up meetings to see how the solution is being automated and they will then provide solutions for it.

How was the initial setup?

The setup was exceptionally straightforward. UiPath can be set up in barely two or three days, and we do it for our customers often. The deployment also includes Orchestrator. Orchestrator is the most complex of all, and it can be done in approximately three to four days' time.

What was our ROI?

One of the reasons why we chose UiPath is because it is a very stable tool and asset. So the main part of our promise to customers is the return on investment. Of course, you can only get return on investment with a tool like UiPath when you have proper processes. Both the tool and the appropriate processes are essential ingredients to get return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Our licensing for UiPath Process Mining, and the various tools such as Studio Orchestrator, is all paid for on an annual basis.

However, with the Document Understanding feature, the licensing is per page. So if we're going to read some 20,000-30,000 pages, that becomes one separate licensing stack.

What other advice do I have?

I can definitely vouch for the product. It's extremely good and the R&D is very well done. Their product strategy is also very much on-point, as they keep improving the product year after year. For instance, when we started with it in 2017, UiPath was only able to do most things manually, but now they've got into artificial intelligence and machine learning and their product is able to read and do things that are completely changing process automation.

I would rate UiPath Process Mining a seven out of ten.
