I can describe some of the use cases for Microsoft OneDrive. We use SharePoint to store projects that we run. In the last 10 years, we have approximately 400 projects that we run with the industry. I use it because I don't prefer the web interface to see documents, Excel, and other kinds of files. I prefer to use Microsoft OneDrive and to map files on my machine locally. Some files I download and use locally.

Seamless integration and efficient project management enhance user experience
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
Some of the best features I appreciate most about Microsoft OneDrive are the simplicity to map different kinds of SharePoint files that are stored in the cloud. It's easy for me, and I prefer to use this solution.
The version control is acceptable, though I don't use it extensively. I appreciate the feature in SharePoint where it's difficult to permanently delete a file, as you can always recover files very easily.
What needs improvement?
There are areas that could be improved in my opinion. At the beginning, it had numerous problems, but nowadays, I have no suggestions for improvement. I think it's working very effectively and for my use cases is very good.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have utilized Microsoft OneDrive for 10 years or more.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
When referring to the beginning, I mean more than 10 years ago. We used to have problems with losing connections and files due to synchronization issues between the local and cloud file systems. There were also numerous problems when using Mac. However, these issues occurred long ago.
How are customer service and support?
I would rate the support with Microsoft for their Microsoft OneDrive as fine since I haven't used support at all. I have never reached out to Microsoft for anything, including their customer service.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
How was the initial setup?
On a scale of one to ten, the ease to set up Microsoft OneDrive is 10. It's quite easy to have it working.
What other advice do I have?
I still have experience with different Microsoft products, primarily the same applications. I use some Windows solutions, mainly Excel, Word, and similar applications. I use Copilot occasionally.
We use Skype and Microsoft OneDrive, and we use SharePoint extensively. Microsoft OneDrive is integrated into our SharePoint usage.
Regarding their documentation or knowledge base online, sometimes it's not easily accessible, particularly for SharePoint. However, nowadays, Copilot can help find solutions for problems that need to be solved.
Regarding pricing for Microsoft OneDrive, we are a public organization, so we don't incur any costs.
The integration capabilities are excellent, rating 10 out of 10. It works perfectly. The integration is quite good.
Microsoft OneDrive is not currently supporting any AI initiatives for data handling. We plan to use Copilot in that sense, but we haven't started yet.
I rate Microsoft OneDrive 10 out of 10.

Extensive use highlights steady progress but hints at resource management challenges
Pros and Cons
- "The best features of Microsoft OneDrive for Business are its continuous improvement in terms of cloud capabilities, security features, and user experience as it's enhancing every day compared to the past."
What is our primary use case?
Microsoft OneDrive for Business meets scalability needs for my clients, depending on the size of their organization and infrastructure setup, and it has definitely improved a lot compared to a few years ago.
What is most valuable?
My experience with Microsoft OneDrive for Business is extensive as I use it personally and with the client's location workplace, related for more than 10 years, having started when it was initially named Skydrive, so I have been using this cloud service of Microsoft for around 15 years now.
The best features of Microsoft OneDrive for Business are its continuous improvement in terms of cloud capabilities, security features, and user experience as it's enhancing every day compared to the past.
The synchronization capabilities of Microsoft OneDrive for Business support my work much better now than before, and I would rate the current status of synchronization a four out of five based on my experience.
What needs improvement?
In the next release of Microsoft OneDrive for Business, I see the need for improvement in resource utilization, as there are many applications that take away memory and processing power, and I hope they can incorporate more capable search criteria for better organization, especially since sometimes the folders on my mobile versus my laptop do not align properly.
Microsoft OneDrive for Business currently lacks AI integration for management and collaboration, which is an area of interest for me, and I have ideas on it but will share them when I get paid.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using this cloud service of Microsoft for around 15 years now.
What was my experience with deployment of the solution?
The maintenance required for Microsoft OneDrive for Business is okay, but I find it resource-intensive and not very user-friendly.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I would rate the stability of Microsoft OneDrive for Business an eight out of ten as it has improved significantly since I started using it from the very initial days of Skydrive.
How was the initial setup?
I would rate the setup of Microsoft OneDrive for Business an eight out of ten in terms of user experience, but I definitely see a lot of scope for improvement in general.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Regarding pricing for Microsoft OneDrive for Business, I am absolutely happy with whatever price I am paying since I was locked into a very good deal from the beginning.
Cost efficiency with Microsoft OneDrive for Business is very subjective, as it depends on individual charges and circumstances; from a client perspective, I sometimes advise C-level executives that it can seem a little expensive, so it varies case by case.
What other advice do I have?
The best features of Microsoft OneDrive for Business are its continuous improvement in terms of cloud capabilities, security features, and user experience as it's enhancing every day compared to the past.
I absolutely recommend Microsoft OneDrive for Business to other businesses, but it always depends on how they bundle their services since businesses always look to cut costs.
Overall, I would rate Microsoft OneDrive for Business an 8.5 out of ten because while it has certain loose ends, it is definitely good.

Connectivity and speed improve collaboration and document sharing across teams
What is our primary use case?
For sharing documents and having a cloud, I use Microsoft OneDrive, and the whole dynamics, the environment, so that everyone can share the same links and all of that.
What is most valuable?
The connectivity in Microsoft OneDrive is excellent; the fact that we can link everything is valuable, and it's very fast as well. I'm unsure if that has anything to do with the product or the internet, but it's notably fast.
The connectivity with different integrations in Office 365 is particularly useful.

How was the initial setup?

What is our primary use case?
We have used Microsoft OneDrive in our company for the last two years since I've been there. On a personal level, I don't use it extensively. If I'm going to use anything, I use our SharePoint where we store all of our documents.
It's a small business with 20 people. We operate across various sectors, but our main industry is aviation.

I would need to be on my laptop to provide more specific details.

Secure data, helpful support, but more duplication file management needed
Pros and Cons
- "The stability of Microsoft OneDrive is very good, it is reliable. There were multiple instances where I had lost my valuable data on hard drives in several other places. However, with Microsoft OneDrive, I've never lost a single file."
- "Microsoft OneDrive could improve because it doesn't support backing up .PST files, which are Outlook data files, and email archives. This is a substantial setback when it comes to Microsoft OneDrive."
What is our primary use case?
Microsoft OneDrive is used for anything and everything I have on my laptop, I backup on it. If I'm shifting to another laptop I can restore the data on that other laptop, the data is very secured.
Sometimes we share files with each other in a very secure manner. We upload the files onto SharePoint or OneDrive, and then send the secured link to the intended recipient.
Overall the solution is used to backup data.
What is most valuable?
The main feature of Microsoft OneDrive is backing up data.
What needs improvement?
Microsoft OneDrive could improve because it doesn't support backing up .PST files, which are Outlook data files, and email archives. This is a substantial setback when it comes to Microsoft OneDrive.
There are times when there are some syncing issues. The resolution of the sync issues could be more user-friendly. When you keep on uploading on Microsoft OneDrive, there are a lot of duplicate files which keep adding. There should be some mechanism to identify the duplicate files, and then clean them up in an automated way. Microsoft OneDrive could check for the duplicate files which are exactly the same and give recommendations in terms of, which one to delete, to allow more free space. A type of cleanup function.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Microsoft OneDrive for approximately five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The stability of Microsoft OneDrive is very good, it is reliable. There were multiple instances where I had lost my valuable data on hard drives in several other places. However, with Microsoft OneDrive, I've never lost a single file.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The scalability of Microsoft OneDrive is not at all a challenge. I used to have 10 GB of storage every year and now, I have increased it to 100 GB because it was done very fast.
We have approximately 40,000 people using this solution in my organization, which is everyone.
How are customer service and support?
I have contacted the support on one occasion.
I would rate the support of Microsoft OneDrive a five out of five.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Microsoft OneDrive is simple.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
The price of Microsoft OneDrive is reasonable and compatible with competitors.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others using this solution is don't back up your complete laptop, identify the folders you want to back up and back up only those. Otherwise, you will fill up your storage very quickly. It consumes a lot of data during syncs and other things, be judicious with those decisions.
I rate Microsoft OneDrive a seven out of ten.
I took off three-point for my overall scoring because the solution does not backup .PST files which are important for me.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
Disclosure: My company does not have a business relationship with this vendor other than being a customer.
