Content planning has become streamlined and centralizes all social channels for a solo marketer
Pros and Cons
  • "I love the usability of HootSuite, and it is easy to learn; that is one of the great things."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for HootSuite is content planning, organization, and analytics. I use HootSuite for the content calendar to plan out my content. I am a team of one, so I do not have anybody to collaborate on ideas with, and I plan content across multiple channels.

How has it helped my organization?

HootSuite has impacted my organization positively by helping me to be more efficient. I can respond to social media and comment all in one place, so it makes me more efficient.

I measure that efficiency by noting it allows me to have more free time for planning other content with me scheduling the content in the platform.

    What is most valuable?

I love the usability of HootSuite, and it is easy to learn; that is one of the great things. I love how I can use everything at once, all of my social media platforms all in one.

I find that it was generally intuitive during the onboarding process.

    What needs improvement?

I do not think HootSuite needs any improvements at the moment; I am enjoying using it right now and I really do not have any tips for improvement.

I have been working in my current field for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I have not explored HootSuite's AI capabilities yet, but overall, I think the security is very good; I have not had any problems with that so far.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

HootSuite is deployed in my organization in a private cloud.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others looking into using HootSuite to consider whatever their needs are. I would listen to them and ask them about their requirements. It really depends on the needs of the person. If they want content management and social media management, depending on what they are looking for, I would recommend HootSuite to them.

I have not tried HootSuite's AI capabilities regarding its accuracy and reliability of output. I would rate this review an 8.

    Private Cloud

Efficient management of social media campaigns while noting pricing challenges
    Pros and Cons
    • "If you are into social media marketing or any other digital media, then you should have knowledge of HootSuite because it is the industry standard that has been helping industry professionals."
    • "The pricing would be great if it were free. It costs $99 per month, which is quite expensive."

What is our primary use case?

If you are into social media marketing or any other digital media, then you should have knowledge of HootSuite because it is the industry standard that has been helping industry professionals. It makes life easier and somehow lowers stress, which is why I would recommend HootSuite.

How has it helped my organization?

It saves me more time with my tasks.

    What is most valuable?

It helps to find templates and content, and it helps me filter things. For the insight analytics too, it makes it easy to find solutions.

It saves me more time with operations.

    What needs improvement?

Would you say there are any areas that still could be improved? Can they make it better in some ways?

For how long have I used the solution?

Have you used HootSuite in the last 12 months?

What was my experience with deployment of the solution?

It can be quite difficult to link social media platforms with HootSuite.

It is otherwise easy to manage.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    It runs very smoothly.

How are customer service and support?

I have not tried the support yet, but if I encounter any problems, I will definitely try it.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Neutral

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Did you use different software for social media analytics before?

    How was the initial setup?

For the setup, I have been guided by my professors so it has been easy for me. For an individual who is going to try it independently, they might need help. There are many resources available on the internet to assist with setup.

    What about the implementation team?

You can see the documentation of HootSuite, and there are many YouTube videos and LinkedIn resources about HootSuite. If you run into a problem, then you have to do some research to get the answers. There are plenty of solutions for HootSuite problems on the internet, but you need to research a bit.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing would be great if it were free. It costs $99 per month, which is quite expensive.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was wondering if you knew similar products and the main differences between them and HootSuite.

What other advice do I have?

HootSuite offers content calendars and analytics tools. It has been used by at least ten users per license or account.

    On a scale of 1-10, I rate HootSuite a 7.

Good customization and social media management with helpful AI capabilities
    Pros and Cons
    • "HootSuite has an AI engine to suggest trending topics related to our business. The engine works really well and comes up with excellent suggestions for more posts."
    • "The company should reduce the pricing to make it easier for companies to deploy to larger social teams."

What is our primary use case?

We use HootSuite to manage our social media, including regular posts, advertising campaigns, and responding to messages. The product allows the users to add all the social accounts on a company on one integrated interface.

The best feature of the product is that you can create one post, and it can be released on all platforms, with customization as per the platform (such as hashtags, mentions, etc.).

Our social team uses the product actively to manage all our social media, and they find the product really useful.

How has it helped my organization?

It has made access control very easy. We don't need to share the actual account credentials with any employee. They can work through HootSuite

We can also manage all our social media in one interface with personalization. It has improved efficiency and security and has delivered significant cost savings. In the enterprise edition, there is also an option to manage user access, and you can limit or grant access, depending on the business needs. For example, marketing can be given access to analytics, customer support to messages, and social teams to the postings. Also, you can have levels for approvals.

    What is most valuable?

HootSuite has an AI engine to suggest trending topics related to our business. The engine works really well and comes up with excellent suggestions for more posts. It takes the manual research away from suggesting the topics. It also will create the complete post for you, which you can customize and tweak as per your preferences.

It makes it easy to manage everything in one interface. Social platforms keep changing, however, with HootSuite, you can be assured of one interface to manage it all. We find these features very valuable.

    What needs improvement?

The key features of the product are available just in the enterprise versions. In the normal paid versions, competitive benchmarking is limited to two competitors. Team and Productivity ratings also are limited to enterprise versions. With normal accounts, you can just boost, however, for social campaigns, you need an enterprise account. The cost also depends upon the number of users and the social platforms. The company should reduce the pricing to make it easier for companies to deploy to larger social teams. It will also motivate small and medium enterprises to be their customers.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've used the solution for two years.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

    Public Cloud

Centralized planning has improved our social scheduling but reporting still needs refinement
    Pros and Cons
    • "HootSuite has positively impacted my organization by helping us manage our content in a central location rather than having everything scattered everywhere."
    • "However, sometimes the admin dashboard and the backend panel can be a bit slow and clunky, so it could improve in terms of speed and managing its load."

What is our primary use case?

My main use case for HootSuite is scheduling social media posts and managing all our social and content calendars in a central location.

We mainly use HootSuite to schedule our posts by bulk producing our content and then scheduling it across two to three platforms regarding our product. We also look for brand mentions around our product and monitor the pulse we can get around the event industry.

    What is most valuable?

The best features HootSuite offers include brand mentions, which is my favorite, and the scheduling content calendar, as it helps identify what kind of perspective and opinion the market has around a specific product.

In my day-to-day work, I find the brand mentions feature helpful because when certain topics are discussed, they get highlighted, and we are able to use that information to understand if there is anything we need to pivot to or if there is any product feature that we need to improve or add.

HootSuite has positively impacted my organization by helping us manage our content in a central location rather than having everything scattered everywhere. We were able to organize everything into HootSuite, which has made us more efficient with our content planning and scheduling.

    What needs improvement?

In terms of branding and brand mentions, it would be useful if we could use multiple sources to pull data from, which would be more helpful.

Reporting would be somewhat more helpful if we were able to get the dashboards more user-friendly in terms of metrics.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using HootSuite for two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

    HootSuite is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I have no concerns regarding HootSuite's scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I have not had to deal with customer support issues. However, I would say they are quite responsive.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

HootSuite is the first solution I have used.

    What was our ROI?

I see time saved, as I mentioned before. However, I am not involved in the accounts department, so I cannot comment on return on investment.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My accounts department handles the pricing, setup cost, and licensing, so I am not able to comment on that.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I was not the one who decided on HootSuite; that was decided by the organization, so I cannot really comment on other options evaluated.

What other advice do I have?

HootSuite serves the purpose of what it is designed for. However, sometimes the admin dashboard and the backend panel can be a bit slow and clunky, so it could improve in terms of speed and managing its load. I would recommend HootSuite to social media content managers looking to be more consistent with their posting and content management. I give HootSuite a rating of seven out of ten.

User interface feels outdated and needs significant improvements
    Pros and Cons
    • "Hootsuite feels like an all-in-one tool; I can publish content on Hootsuite and then answer comments, which is what I do for my customers."
    • "I advise against using Hootsuite."

What is our primary use case?

I am using Hootsuite to manage my customers' LinkedIn pages. I manage about ten customers.

    What is most valuable?

Hootsuite feels like an all-in-one tool. I can publish content on Hootsuite and then answer comments, which is what I do for my customers.

    What needs improvement?

Hootsuite has a lot to improve, particularly the user interface, which feels dated and like an old product. I am not quite happy with the service and am looking to replace it.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Hootsuite for about a year now.

How are customer service and support?

I am not happy with the service provided by Hootsuite.

How would you rate customer service and support?

    Negative

What other advice do I have?

I advise against using Hootsuite. I rate Hootsuite a three out of ten because the user interface feels dated and clunky, it does not have all the features that I need, and they do not provide good service.

It has a social media presence outside of the hours people are able to devote to an organization. However, you can't schedule Twitter threads where each tweet is a reply to a previous tweet.
    Pros and Cons
    • "The main improvement HootSuite offers is allowing my organization to run social media campaigns."
    • "It has a social media presence outside of the hours people are able to devote to an organization."
    • "Last I checked, you can't schedule Twitter threads where each tweet is a reply to a previous tweet."

What is our primary use case?

How has it helped my organization?

The main improvement HootSuite offers is allowing my organization to run social media campaigns. Also, it has a social media presence outside of the hours people are able to devote to an organization.

    What is most valuable?

    What needs improvement?

Last I checked, you can't schedule Twitter threads where each tweet is a reply to a previous tweet.

For how long have I used the solution?

    Trial/evaluations only.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have only used the free versions.

Great tool to make small team effective.

I love HootSuite! I'm a Marketing Managers responsible for all of my company's social media, as well as a number of other functions (events, landing page and email copy, blog, etc). HootSuite makes it so easy to do the social part of my job well because I can schedule my posts in advance, shrink my links right in the platform, gather my analytics, etc. In addition, they integrate with Get Satisfaction customer communities (disclaimer: I work for GS), so when someones gives us praise on Twitter, I can pull it into our community for everyone to see/search for. All of this, right in the platform.

I've been using HootSuite since 2011 in 3 different companies. I cannot recommend it enough, it is a brilliant product and would be happy to talk to anyone about it in private. I would like to disclose that I am in no way linked to the company or any employee of HootSuite, just a big fan :)
